The NEW Ultegra | What makes this the ultimate surfcasting reel?

The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight kzbin.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!

I would appreciate if you could use lower gear ratio for your Surf reels and not just paint them in another color. The 4.3 is not suitable for heavy leads of 150-200g. It is a known fact that every second surfcaster has a japanese model because of the slower recovery and higher torque, look at which models are used in world championships, you will understand. But the great Shimano is never listening ! Also since you brought up so much new technology on the Ultegra, it would have been nice to add a ball bearing on the line roller for a few pennies, this without mentionning the bail in chromed plastic. Those are savings on a very wrong place. I really don't know how you manage your projects or who you talk to when you develop a new product, however each product should start from the user experience and not just creating some new marketing terms and force it upon them. Before I forget, please get rid of that stainless steel shaft, it is 20g unnecessary extra weight. Please don't get me wrong, I am a very big Shimano fan and I want to see you at your very best !

Without a baitrunner or clicker system, you have to loosen the drag, like dude does at 2:55 That's is a big missing feature for me when still fishing from the bank. Having to re-set the drag when a fish bites is just asking for a lost fish. I cannot risk that.

@markmanson5035 can you read I had the xtd ultegra 5500 that came out like 3 years ago they didn't last 6 months the new shimano stuff is crap yeah older shimano stuff will last forever but the newer stuff are built like phones wont last 5 years now

ultegra 14000 xse...I bought 2 pieces, both of them are noisy, cheap material etc ...forget this industrial garbage...and I wont buy the 1500 eur version for real quality .. fu shimano for steeling
