I think Gargin's original Cave Dweller not spawning as frequently is kind of the intent of the mod. I think it was just made to put the player more on edge, never knowing when it will show up, so it causes a sense of paranoia while you're down there. That's my take anyway.

It in fact was the intent behind original design, new "dwellers" are built for annoying cheap spooks mostly. TOWW, Manbear and og Cave Dweller have buildup and aren't obnoxios.

I know what you mean, but I was using the "nightmare" version or whatever its called, which is supposed to spawn WAY more often, and it also did at the beginning, he attacked me like 3 times within 10 minutes but after that he was just gone. Again, I was probably just unlucky

The original Cave Dweller and Manbear ad such were designed with gameplay in mind, but most other ones seem to be designed with content creators in mind to have them spawn more frequently. I think I recall someone looked into the code and found that most "dwellers" have a preset timer to them for spawning. Strangely, I can understand why they're designed that way, it's for videos, but it does lose some the luster of what makes horror what it is.

Hey there. As the one who made all of these mimic dwellers you should probably know about upcoming updates for these mods: The Villager Dweller and Sheep Dweller will be able to disguise as regular sheep and villager and show their true colors once you interact with them. The steve dweller will be able to break and place blocks, carry pickaxes while not startled and his climbing mechanic will be replaced with him building up to you in super speed. The mimic dweller will be able to steal player skins and player and mimic them when he kills said player. Also its funny that you ranked the Sheep Dweller so high since it was supposed to be an april fools joke but I'm glad you still like it regardless xD

I'm not a fan of the other dweller mobs because they try to make themselves the centerpiece of your world. The persistence gets very annoying. The original intention of Gargin's Cave Dweller was to add a personification to the unsettling cave noises. It wasn't supposed to constantly jumpscare you, but slowly build up and keep you on edge inside caves. Adding these dwellers to the surface biome ruins the point, and it just becomes jumpscare bait.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Im looking for nice horror mods that create a sense of nervousness without actually doing anything and only until I least expect it the monster showed. My issue with the cuckoo clock was that every 5 minutes a countdown would start and it would spawn on top of me, it was incredibly annoying and predictable.

The reason the bread dweller has ‘bread’ in its name is stated in the description of the mod: (Bread Dweller will give you hints that it is near by dropping bread when near you, and also emitting sounds like the natural cave dweller, and if you encounter bread in the caves, you know exactly what is about to happen.)

The last one is the christmas dweller. I like him because while he's another cave dweller reskin, the way he kills you is neat. And was the first one I ran into that seemed to bypass armor since he just takes you and stuffs you in his sack while you suffocate to death

Hot take but I'm not the biggest fan of the Goatman and would probably put him in mid or even lower. The version that I have, the one with the newest texture, has him spawn constantly on the surface! You can't catch a break with him, which gets especially annoying if you just loaded up a new world and you have little to no protection. If he was much rarer and maybe even spawned in locations actual Minecraft goats appear, plus the removal of those human lines like "Help me," then I think the mod would definitely be better. On any case, I like the placement of most of the mods in this video. Great work!

The best stalker is, ironically, the base-game Warden. You see it pass by, it builds tension as you gotta make sure that his ass doesn't give chase. The Warden is the best of these "Dweller" ideas, and it's not even a Dweller.

I think that the Irritator is a lot worse then you're thinking. Yeah, it's enormous, but that's only the model. Any of it's sound effects from it taking damage or straight-up ripped from the Cave Dweller Reimagined and the thing still spawns like it. It spawned in a Mineshaft once despite it being easily nine blocks tall and still fits through one-block gaps. It's a copy-pasted Cave Dweller Reimagined with a new model and a couple of new sound effects.

the second scp-4975 (times up) would work by. stalking a person then starting to make a cracking sound with their neck bones as a timer. the cracking sound would irritate the person and make it really hard to do anything, only the person its targeting can hear it. and after some time the cracking sound it makes would stop and when it stops is when it would attack. while still being invisible to others, the person its targeting/attacking would see it rip and tear into them with its broken dis-jointed arms. after the person died scp-4975 would then start to eat the person until nothing was left. btw im going off the scp foundation wiki not the one from the game, just thought yall would like to know.

This may be controversial, but I'd put the Man from the Fog into 'it's the biggest piece of dogsh*t'. All it does is spawn at night, beeline straight towards you, and oneshot you with a cheap jumpscare. There's no tension, no way to avoid it, just an "eh, the man spawned, time to ԁіе I guess" when you see the achievement in chat (yes, he announces himself with an achievement). The last time I played with the mod, I blocked myself in inside a mountain upon him spawning, and he instamined through 10+ blocks of solid stone to jumpscare and kіII me. Now I just remove the mod whenever I see it in a modpack.

I think people just don't understand the point of those dweller mods. It's really hard to make Minecraft scary, but it's really easy to turn Minecraft into insanely difficult game. Maybe those dwellers aren't scary and look goofy, but they make Minecraft hard. But you must understand the difference between challenging and annoying dwellers. The challenging don't appear too often, so you're supposed to be surprised (maybe not scared, but surprised) when the dweller will start chasing you in the least expectable location. I think that's the point. Those mods are not scary, but the best of them are challenging, but not annoying
