My personal peeve with all these mods is that all these creatures are just some variation of "tall lanky thing with glowing (or hollow) eyes and sharp teeth". Couldn't we at least have some variety in their designs? They all just feel like the same thing with a different coat of paint, both in appearance and function.

I've had a thought about a /creepier/ Dweller-esque creature that, uh, maybe didn't always immediately try to kill you. But, it would follow you through caves if you're in long enough, scramble away inhumanly fast if you turned around to look at it, before returning a while later, as well as some other interactions perhaps involving lights...

The manbear mod is kind of like that. Its totaly random and most of the time you cant see it. I don't know if his mod requires fog (or comes with it), but the fog makes it so much better. I don't even know how many times hes seen it, but its been like 3 that hes physically seen. It comes and goes as it pleases. Hides in the fog. Mimics your voice. Plays sounds. Breaks parts of your base while your gone. Heck in his last video, it laid a "beartrap" and caught him. Plus it hates you sleeping. When he tried to sleep it broke parts of his base in front of him. I want to see more of his mod.

I wanted to make a dweller-type mod, but instead of playing off of fear, it would be paranoia. It could appear at any time and has that Subnautica-esque jumpscare where if you have enough health, you can escape, but if you don't, you die. It would also have a ranged attack, like the warden, but won't instantly kill you, but set you on fire. It's a "I can see you, but you can't see me" kind of deal, but it has to "unmask" to attack (It's also ivincable to all damage (or at least I want it to be)) Sadly, I don't know how to make this into reality because I have no clue how to make a mod for Minecraft (I have a small amount of python coding knowledge, so if you have any idea where to go or what to do would be nice). Thanks for reading my little rant about my creature, I just like to talk about them :)

Rupter's Slumbering Omen is my absolute favorite mod out of all of these. It's so unique and there's so much it offers. Plus, it helps a ton that the dev seems to be super genuine. Usually, I'd never share my opinion on things like this, but I have a ton of respect for Rupter. I definitely feel the same way about The One Who Watches and Man from the Fog.

Something I can say about the Dweller-type Mods, and I say this as someone who has tried some, is that then you get used to the presence of these Creatures and you can even lose your fear of them, and I feel that these mods are guilty of somethings: 1. The most of these Dwellers act very similar in their mechanics, The only one I can say that is a huge difference is The Slumbering Omen for his aggressiveness, for breaking blocks as a form of intimidation and that once he finds you he will not stop until he reaches you, but all the other Dwellers focus on chasing you and pursuing you and scream, rather than feeling like they are hunting or harassing you, it is that they walk until they find you. 2. Their animations are not the most fluid and I even dare to say that they are very "hard" to the point where they get stuck with the environment or look very goofy. 3. Many times they want to play with it. sound but they either leave you deaf or scare you only for a moment. I would like a Dweller that really feels like an intelligent Hunter, that you feel like it is hunting you, that its Animations make it feel like a real threat, that its design does not feel out of the *"Minecraft"* Style, that its sounds They are to trick you, possibly by acting like a Villager or Animals from the Vanilla Game and that Dweller does not hold back and attacks without fear of breaking easy blocks, he will break just to be closer to you, and I imagine this Dweller as a Beast Villager or a Lycanthrope Villager that only comes out at night.

The problem I have with these is how they all work the same: they are unkillable super fast creatures that scream in your ears. We need some dwellers that have different functions. Some that have original effects, like for example spawning in strip mines (imagine you are strip mining and break a block behind which a creepy creature is hiding), hiding under the bed so when you sleep they jump or something like that.

I just really want a "player 2" mod, that involves a story of maybe a seed being reused from an older state of the game, where the original player character of that seed remains stuck and angry that their player never accomplished the ending, so it stalks and haunts you mercilessly in all parts of the game, trying to stop you from doing what it's player couldn't. Maybe after all the updates his textures weren't up to date so it's just a slightly distorted Mc character with the ability to use chat to stalk you, find coordinates, have a run cycle similar to a players, and even leave abandoned strip mines, houses, and looted villages throughout the world. Just imagine being in a strip mine, hearing cobblestone breaking from a pick, and catching glimpses another player in your single player game, then having the old minecraft music playing all warped and reverbed, and once you break a block you begin to see a block slowly breaking across from a wall of the mine, only to have it come out and start sprint jumping after you and screaming with the minecraft music peacefully distorting more and more while it does

The arthropod phobia mod is honestly pretty slept on as a dweller mod as it is pretty good even removing all the other parts of the mod except for the dweller itself out of it. First off you have a dweller mod that isn't the same goofy looking skinny dude with loud noises format, but you have a genuinely terrifying giant insect that will actively stalk you until you defeat it peppered in with a lot of mechanics i have yet to seen on your mundane dweller mod. On top of that it adds a lot of other additions such as other giant creepy crawlies that offers pretty challenging battles if ever encountered.

IMO the original Cave Dweller is still one of the absoute best dwellers out there, It blends into the environment and game perfectly, its design looks so much like something that you'd see in a normal vanilla minecraft. It fits the world and the athmosphere, and its sorta uncanny, like i get a bit uneasy by the looks of it.

I Freaking LOvE the christmas Dweller His Voicelines are "Scary-Silly" espacilly whens its infact NOT christmas he spawns rarely (its like a 50/50 chance whenever his "cave-noise" plays) and whenever he attacks instead of an instant death you are captured by him and you need to spam Shift to get out (i really like that mechanic) lastly he doesnt have too much HP you CAN actually fight back - its hard sure - but he feels like a genuinly good challenge - i recommend if you use other Dwellers with him

The Reason i think these horror mods dont work is because 1 cave sounds are jarring because there rare and unexpected and are completely random unlike the dwellers which are extremely predictable 2 All of these mods are basically a reskin and carbon copy of one another 3 the entitys all look the same all of them are long and tall with sharp teeth or a disturbing face 4 minecraft is just really not that scary in the older versions sure it was creepy but now its not.

I think slumbering omen has too big and complex model. They should make dwellers to other parts of world, like flying or swimming dweller. I tried to make swimming dweller but it was big mutant fish. I like how yeti works. Its big and loud, there should be more dwellers like that There should be mobs from Beware the rain (i know there is "These are not dwellers!") but it feel like dwellers. When I was testing some dwellers in creative to see them myself, I spawned vapor (red flying monster with no legs), I thought it can't do anything, im in creative right but it gave me f**king jumpscare I WAS TERRIFIED. I would put him into very creepy.

Starved Stalker (as of now) is easy to beat, easily beaten by the boat strat and the weapon he "drops" (100% chance to drop the one main item needed to make it) is way too strong. 18 DAMAGE. AND IS ENCHANTABLE. With sharpness 5 it deals more than 20 damage. 20. And it has a 1.2 attack speed. Which is ludicrous

Putting the Skinstalker and the Starved Stalker next to each other is slander. The Skinstalker is amazing and maybe even my absolute favorite. I absolutely love the sounds and especially the atmosphere they give you in a forest area. And i on the other hand thought that Nightmare.jar was one of the most boring and less interesting dwellers to exist. He never scared me, had the worst sounds and in my opinion doesn't even look good or even remotely scary. The One Who Watches and Man From The Fog are in my top three with the Skinstalker. I love both of them. I didn't like the slumbering omen due to its png jumpscares that are more annoying than scary and the fact it brings some annoying mobs with it that kinda ruin the atmosphere. I personally liked the goatman and yeti because of their sounds and design but they spawn so frequently that they are just not scary anymore. And now lets get to Creation and Origin. These two are literally just the Reimagined Cave Dweller except for a few sounds and animations and that Creation can spawn on surface but he does way too frequently to be scary as well. Theres nothing unique about them.

old goatman was goat man like the new goatman had only like 50 hp and very easy to kill but old goatman was hard to killed and did not really spawn often like the new one i hope old goatman will be back

I was nearly a builder and helper for Whispers of the wendigo, there's lots of things planned for it but after playing it so many times it's just not good in general, it's scary first time around but then it's just annoying so many bugs, plenty of easy ways to avoid the wendigo Plus it just breaks? I've had times where I sit there looking it dead in the eyes while it's screaming and hunting me, it's literally a block away from me but not moving or dealing damage (Plus the creator is a dickhead)

now, i don’t actually play any of these, so im judging these solely off of what ive seen in videos…but the starved stalker is easily the least scary, and goatman is the worst, it’s actually not less scary that starved stalker (but not much scarier either) but its so unbelievably oversaturated, i thought it wad scary at first but jesus fucking christ the sounds are so goddamn annoying now, then we have the yeti…its just that pose he does before he runs at you where he leans is so fucking goofy bruh i cant take blud seriously😭 then we have the midnight lurker which is basically just a slightly better starved stalker…anyways im only listing the ones i think suck, and yes, this does mean i actually like krampus🤓
