There must be more at work here, and good reasons for them to make this change. However, they already make the all-mahogany 524ce, so why change the 324ce to be virtually the same as the 524ce? Interesting to see if people hear a $500 difference between the two. Maybe you guys could do an A-B.

@@gregmika8026 I had the same question about my 324e. It, too, was manufactured 3/2022. I bought it May 9. I submitted a question to Taylor on their website a couple of weeks ago asking them for clarification but never heard back. I’m going on the assumption that it’s Tasmanian blackwood just because I hadn’t heard anything about this change until after I bought mine and was told it was T. blackwood. I think I will follow back up with Taylor about this. Either way, I love the sound, feel and looks of the guitar.
@andrewboyd17002 жыл бұрын
I had been looking at various used and new models of the 324’s and other Taylor’s for months before deciding on the new 324e I bought. Visually, the Tasmanian blackwood and the mahogany (from the 500 series) are similar. But it seems like the grain of the blackwood tends to have more variegation compared to the more uniform grain pattern of the mahagony. The pattern on the back of my guitar has beautiful variegation so I feel pretty sure mine is blackwood.

Hard to compare across different KZbin channels but the all mahogany mids sound so much clearer; the blackwood didn't sound dark or mellow so much as just muddled to me (worse on the 14 fret than the 12).. definitely a welcome change and one that makes me more likely to consider this model. I think it might have lost a little clarity on the bass notes though.

I would really like to know how this updated version compares in warmth to the Martin 000-15M. I am looking to get a all mahogany guitar. I'm leaning with the Martin based on what I have read (can't find one to play yet :( ). My eyes like the Taylor and this did sound pretty nice. Side note: I ditched my Taylor 324ce Builders Edition. Loved the sound for fingerstyle, but got muddy with strumming...at least to my aging ears. So going all Mahogany may now work for me.

Hi Mike, I recently bought a used Taylor 324ce with tasmanian blackwood and I was really disappointed with the sounds I have been getting out of it. The b and e strings ring too loud and it's annoying to my ears. Have you noticed any buzzing or ringing sounds with your Taylor 324?
@Mike-rx3qf2 жыл бұрын
@@paulgoulet8343 Hey Paul. I did not have any of those issues. I assume the action is fine for the strings on it. My issue was strictly the sound when strumming. Just a tonal fiasco. @IndigoJo2 жыл бұрын
Is it an upgrade, really? An all-mahogany construction makes it less unique as other manufacturers are making all-mahogany or all-sapele guitars. Australian Blackwood (it grows throughout eastern Australia, not just Tasmania) is more unusual and mostly favoured by Australian builders like Maton, though Lowden have it as an option on their 35 or 50 series. It would be interesting to see what American builders could do with blackwood and Taylor are known for experimenting with different woods, although perhaps there's enough to keep Maton and Cole Clark going but not a whole bunch of overseas makers.

Hi - what mic is that?
@arkadyromanov78032 жыл бұрын
It sounds good! But I think Taylor made a mistake. It doesn't sound any better than the Tas blackwood 324ce and there's heaps of mahogany top/mahogany body guitars out there that they are now putting themselves in direct comparison with. Tas blackwood always felt like a feature that "one upped" the competition, but my opinion may be in the minority on that. By the way, the 324ce is one of the few taylors where I would ditch the elixir strings in favour of d'addario XS series on there - it just brings out a little more out of the guitar and allows for more delicate picking in my opinion. I always felt I had to dig in a little more to get the most out of it with elixir strings. I'll never let go of my Tas 324ce. :) edit: listening to the old alamo videos, the old 324ce seemed to have a nicer, more delicate high end. THAT SAID: could just be the difference between Cooper and Chris' playstyle, mic settings, individual diffences between those 2 specific demo'd guitars... etc etc.
