I don’t gorilla tag will be “dethroned” for a long time, but it definitely is dropping right now due to how much of the community is toxic. I now see more toxicity than positivity within gorilla tag

I dont think orion drift will kill gorilla tag because for newer vr players gorilla tag is a pretty simple and easy to understand game but orion drift looks very big and complicated for newer players. Fire video!

@@Trentic i saw that part and i like your take but GTAG already has captured a massive audience who are good at its gameplay loop and its culture. If any game could kill gtag it would be OD but that doesn’t guarantee anything. Until the game is out we have no idea if the mostly children audience of gtag will switch over. Also not to mention sunk cost fallacy, alot of children have spent a LOT of money on gtag so it might be harder to switch for them.

gorilla tag definitely serves a different purpose than odrift, odrift is meant to take it serious while gorilla tag is basically so unserious and so stitched together with hotglue, that they can do whatever and itll work. there isnt an established world, originally you were gorillas in an inclosure but that didn't even stick, i think canonically by now the gorillas are smarter than humans or as smart as? theres just, demons and witches only occasionally for some reason, the game is not supposed to take itself seriously and thats what makes it such a hit. its good for what it isnt, mass produced. gorilla tag is such a blank slate now that anything can happen and its fine, they didnt even change the old textures when they changed the art style. odrift is meant to be a clean vr sports game, it takes place in a spaceship drifting through space, they still can do alot, but its more limited because its grounded, or ungrounded because theyre in space. they arent the same and its likely more interchangeable, people play odrift when they want a more serious game, people play gorilla tag when they dont. this isnt related to orion drift but seeing archoys gorilla tag animation 2 at the start caught me off guard. even more so my thumbnail work. i get you didnt specifically pick that or anything but it does gotta give me some whiplash. and it is a screenshot from when it was freshly posted too.

Orion Drift looks sick, I never played echovr but both games look like they could replicate what Gorilla tag did by popularizing vr through something so fun and easy to access, what Orion Drift does NOT need is most Gorilla tag players coming to play the game, the only vr community I have seen this toxic is VRChat, If they want to let everyone play, the reporting system needs to be strong, and rules need to be enforced better, They also shouldn't just replicate Gorilla tag's reporting system Because it only looks like moderator reports are the only ones that work in-game, and normal players most of the time have to submit it in the discord. I also realized that because Orion Drift will most likely appeal to Gorilla tag players, we also get an influx of flat out bad content/clickbait surrounding Orion Drift, Im sorry for all of the negativity and i'm genuinely suprised you only have 7k subs, your content and editing are really good! keep up the great work!

@@rfxquack gorilla tag replicated echo in being revolutionary. Echo did something no other game had done, using your hands to move, and not the joysticks. I’m sure lemming used (or was inspired by) echo’s unique movement to create the game we know today. Gorilla tag partially capitalized (positively) on echo vr’s movement. Echo vr popularized vr first, gorilla tag was really only so successful because of tiktok, youtube, and the cheap quest 2. Sorry for the rant, your comment irritated me.

as a gorilla tag fan veteran (same as echo vr), this game looks like it would have echo vr mixed with gorilla tags movement. if you look at one of the clips that has been shown. unlike echo vr, where you grab the disc/ball, you hit it. which would mean the hands can collide possibly on the ground.

The newfound toxicity in Gorilla Tag is sad. When I used to get on, everyone would help me and each other out, and gorilla tag was more than just a game, it was a positive and uplifting community. All until the Christmas of 2022, when the minigames kids overflow started. And it’s not their fault, as they were young and hod no idea how much annoyance and frustration they caused to the community. Many turned toxic and I still am sad thinking about it today. Do better man, we want our game back.
