The New Wilson NBA Official Game Ball UNBOXING REVIEW

The wait is over. The new Wilson NBA Official Game is finally released to the public on July 29, 2021, and I got one of the first 100 balls released. And here is my take on it and what I thought about this ball. Just a reminder, this is just one person's opinion so please take it with a grain of salt.

Wilson produces a variety of balls for the consumer market as well. It also formerly was the supplier to the NBA's game ball from 1946 to 1983, and will become the official supplier once again starting with the 2021-22 NBA Season.

I had to refresh the Wilson page for like a day until it showed "in stock", then purchased it right away. I hope it's good, it's my first basketball, been using my friend's Evo which feels nice. Breaking it in will probably be a pain and I sure know it probably won't get chosen for pick up games at my gym before it's full broken in, they probably won't even believe it's the official game ball either. Dribbling drills for days to speed up the process. NGL its a bit dumb to spend $200 on a basketball but if it's a hobby I enjoy, my mindset is like "I won't be here forever, it's worth spending it on the best I can use now" plust I'm just really curious as to how a genuine leather basketball feels and plays.

Yeah. People still not choosing this ball for a pickup games. It’s alright though I like shooting with it. Anyway, the thing about expensive leather basketball that it will last for many many year. If you buy a pair of basketball shoes that cost $150 and wear it a few times per week to play basketball that shoes probably only lasted 5 years max.

I have five spalding tf 1000 legacy and I bought them from same official store and they are legit. Their weights are 582 grams, 588 grams, 591 grams, 592 grams and 600 grams. I also have two wilson evo nxt and their weights are 585 grams and 575 grams. What I'm going to tell is each ball has it's unique weight although they are same models and made in same countries. My friends wilson nba ball is 579 grams and my other friends same official wilson nba ball is 595 grams. The most important thing is the feel. Some balls like molten balls feel heavy. Shooting with tf 1000 legacy with same weight molten gl7x is very different. Tf 1000 feels so light and easier to shoot from long range. I think you should tell people that each same model ball can weight different than the other. Sometimes differance is 20 grams! Your videos are great btw keep up the great work! Cheers from Turkey!

I wanted to get the latest tf1000 legacy but I have too many balls that need to be tested. Guys the official Wilson nba ball feels so much better than Spalding it’s just like Wilson evolution but just a little grippier felt like that ball had a string when dribbling. Overall it’s way better than spalding NBA ball my brother does floor cleaning for the Celtics on games he gets pretty good he brought me to the game to sit court side and the ball was phenomenal.

Man, I don’t know it’s “feels so much better” than Spalding. At this point the Wilson is still a new ball and I’m pretty sure people that owned this ball haven’t fully broken it in yet. As for now, it doesn’t feels so much better than the Spalding and definitely no way it feels similar to the Evolution because they both r different type basketballs. But we never know maybe it will feel better when it’s fully broken in.

The weight difference could be attributed to it being brand new. I use Spalding NBA official game balls, and a broken in one is slightly heavier than a brand new one. I have weighed both my new and broken in ball and the broken in ball weighs a tiny bit more, with equal air pressure inside. I believe it's because of absorbing sweat, dirt, etc from use. Once the new Wilson ball is broken in and used a lot it should weigh about the same as the used Spalding NBA ball you weighed. Both should still be noticeably lighter than a Wilson Evolution, which is an extremely heavy ball and one of the reasons why I really dislike it, in addition to how spongy it feels, and how slippery it gets if your hands sweat. I'm also not a fan of how deep and wide the channels are on an Evolution. I much prefer the shallower channels on the NBA official game balls. From what this video has shown, the channels in the new Wilson NBA ball appear to be the same as the Spalding NBA game ball, which I am happy about.

@@EverythingBasketballs My newer Spalding ball weighs in at about 1lb 4 oz. It has about 3 weeks worth of usage at this point. 8 psi of air. I threw out my broken in ball because it was no longer holding any air. and unfortunately I don't remember what the weight was when I weighed it. I just know it was slightly heavier than the newer ball.

The 3-letter number on the Wilson basketball means the number of the OEM. The first letter N refers to the foundry in Guangdong, which is also the best OEM of Wilson. There are also foundries starting with X. In the past, Wilson basketball was represented by another agent. Now they have their own brand (ProSelect) and also produce basketballs. They are also manufactured by an OEM factory in Guangdong, and the price is relatively cheap.

There's not much of a difference to the spalding game ball but as you said there is a soft feeling and I can't grip it and pick it up lol. I played a bit today and so far I like the return of the bounce it's very consistent. So far that's all I can say but I can feel that when I'm sweaty the ball tends to get a bit stickier. But I'm 100% sure after seasoning the ball and breaking it in properly I'm sure it'll get better and better. That's all I can say bruv. Overall I'm happy with my £185 investment and I do recommend the hoopers to anyone to buy it if they're really crazy into it. P.s my packing was not the same as the box you received but still with wilson branding. Mine was exported from Germany with so many Wilson stickers stuck on the box lol. Did anyone else on here manage to get one of the first released 💯? I managed to land #11/100 =D. Still don't know if I want to use it or toss it in a glass case and enjoy staring at it. (For anyone interested, there is a 'First Wilson 100 Ball' on eBay currently that is #'d 100th of 100, the very last of the first 100 produced. Asking price currently $800) Sidenote: My roommates and co-workers can't understand why I have so many indoor balls, especially the 4 Official Spalding NBA ones, considering I can still only dribble 2 at a time max since I was only granted two total useable arms. So I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my collecting obsession. I thank you for this realization to a wonderful degree.

@@EverythingBasketballs Yea, I got pretty lucky considering the normal retail value they go for (at least I thought I did) and managed to get two new Spaldings on sale at different times for a shade over $100, and the other two were partially used/broken in already I got for $65 and $75 apiece. I possess a minor deal-triggered compulsive buying problem when it comes to things of a basketball nature. I feel weirdly compelled to use the #/100 ball but I guarantee I'd manage to scratch it on some fluke road nail hanging out of the wall or something. Figure maybe I'll save some money and try and buy another #/100 ball before they potentially increase significantly in value after being recognized as the unanimously agreed upon greatest batch of professional basketballs ever created (all limbs crossed). Sorry to hear they don't send you balls since finding legit research on balls has been difficult in times past due to lack of available and in-depth reviews, but your work's appreciated my man. I know its this way for myself with all the bballs I currently possess and probably is similar for yours, but knowing that I spent a personally irresponsible small fortune on all the ones I own has always resulted in my taking overly good care of them. For people trying to sell a ball that's already notoriously expensive, it's probably a little obscure to explain to a majority of people that don't know about the necessary 'break-in process", that "used" in this case it makes the product better and more valuable than a brand new one.

I rekon the authentic series gameball looks like the Wilson solution. It has that redd-ish tint and they're both composite leather. Price point for RRP seems pretty close too so I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a rebadged Wilson solution.

Sorry it is not, currently there are two versions of the replica series selling in my country, one is 7100 microfiber, and the 7200 composite leather. I have purchased the 7200 two months ago and got a touch and tried the 7100 at the store. Both of them are not even close to either the evolution or the solution, and the price of 7100 is on par with the evolution but the performance is just worth the half. As to the 7200, just pure trash. I just checked on the wilson website in the US, they are just the same as i mentioned, 7100 is for indoor, 7200 indoor/outdoor, funny how they dont sell the cheapest one 7300 outdoor here, are we people looking rich? So just some notice from the Good Old China.

If u played 3 times a week about 1.5hr each time, it probably gonna take between 6 to 8 months depend on how intensive u play with it. If u only shooting around then probably take longer than 8 months.
