Well done. I am waiting for my D2 to arrive in a few weeks. I appreciated your caution in not gushing after one hunt. So much depends on what you swing over with a new machine. I think almost any new machine can find things the others missed so a long view really is wise. Thanks for a great video!
@MentalMetal2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tom, yes I think we typically find things the other machine miss because we tend to dig everything at first to learn the machine etc. At least that has been my experience, then we biased towards certain tones and numbers and things get missed. I think you will like the machine. I'm having a lot of fun with it. Good luck.

Dont know Scott. I believe it's a good machine but the hype is not worth the money in my opinion. I'm a beach hunter in Fl. Ran into a guy with a brand new D2. Hunted same line he did along cabanas at busy beach. Picked up quite a bit of change and then hit a screaming 19-20 on my 800. 10 g mens 14k band! How do you miss so much? Got 301 rings in 2021, 47 gold! Gotta love the Nox in a capable detectorist hands! As always a great informative video! Thanks!! 👍👍👍

Hey no worries I'm not trying to over hype it. I will say that a guy with a "brand new d2" up against an experienced equinox user, I would put my money on the equinox. Also a tough one to do since many people (including myself) have 3-4 years of digging using an Equinox vs someone with a couple months using the D2. One thing I learned from this is that if you already have a really nice detector like a Nox 600/800, CTX 3030, or even a 1st Gen XP Deus, adding a $1,600 XP Deus II to your arsenal makes little sense. Unless you have money to burn. Performance wise, it finds trash and treasure just like the rest of them. However, if you're looking to replace a previous detector and money is no object, this is certainly one to consider. This might be a good detector as a primary with a Nox 600 or 800 as your backup. Because as light as the Deus' and Nox's are, the battery on your Deus is going to run out long before your arm ever gets tired. Then just bring in the equally light weight Nox and keep on swinging. Between them, you could detect from sun up to sundown.
@MentalMetal2 жыл бұрын
Agree w/you on both sides. Totally true. But I'll add one. If you like the detector you are using and you are find great stuff with it and feel under pressure to buy something new because everyone on KZbin is telling you to, then don't. There is nothing wrong with using the machine you enjoy using. After all, to most of us its just a hobby and thrill of finding something cool and amazing is what keeps us out there. Thank you for your comment.

@@MentalMetal When I'm asked why I enjoy metal detecting so much (between the hundreds of times I'm asked what's the best thing I've found -- lol), I like to compare it to Christmas morning as a child. If you are going to talk and show the X Y screen, you should look into the zoom feature on it. Someone put out a video (wish I could remember who so I could share the link) that without zooming in, you see pretty much that tiny dot in the middle of the screen, unless it is a real strong target, but if you zoom in, you can gain a lot more knowledge about the target. I would like to see you test this feature more. Of course, the hardcore Deus users will tell, unlike the Nox, this machine is all about the tones, don't rely upon the screen to tell you what you've got.

Here in Tasmania an XP cost $2500 AU the Equinox cost $900 AU so in fact we could nearly buy 3 Equinox's 🙂

I checked out the V3I that you mention and I guess it looks similar (in a way) but it operates a lot different from what I saw.

I love my V3i. Even though I also have a 3030 and Nox 800, I still take the V3i with me on land hunts. Fantastic detector.

I assume you are referring to me not showing the numbers, well I had some glare that I couldn't help but I think I did read out the numbers so my bad and will try to catch the numbers next time.

What i don't understand is that such a hypersonic device has a ' pac-man' display. Mayby that's for somekind of reason, but i don't know...

Hype i pitted a tesoro vaquero against the Deus 2 other than beaches they perform exactly the same I'm afraid
@MentalMetal Жыл бұрын
Well I guess perhaps that could be true but I don't have a Tesoro to test it against. Do they even make those anymore?

A 1600.00 pull tab, really, nice machine but I thought for that price you would get a coin, point is your honest, not interested in a expensive machine that still thinks tabs. R coins
@MentalMetal2 жыл бұрын
I eventually pulled out a few coins. It just took awhile but that place has been hard over the years.

Not real more then Reg deus does seems like a good detector but will wait too much hype for a while everyone a new machine comes out
@MentalMetal2 жыл бұрын
Thanks William, I don't blame you but I feel that the D2 is much better internally and performs with a lot more stability but some will disagree and that is fine. Nothing wrong with sticking to what you know.
