He purchased the team in 1999, but it wasn't until 2000 that he actually got his hands on the roster. 2000 was when he signed/overpaid for Bruce Smith, Deion Sanders, Jeff George, etc in an attempt to win a Superbowl over night. He nor any of his buddies were football minds, and the team suffered because of it. They ran the team like it was Madden with the salary cap turned off.

Evan really is clueless. Woody let Douglas and Saleh run this team for 5-6 years before he stepped in. Woody may be a lousy owner but these guys had their chance. Douglas will be brought in quickly by another team. He assembled a tremendous amount of talent here. Just don't have him select the coaches. If the Jets had fired Saleh in January, as they should have, and hired Bruce Arians, they would right now be the #1 seed in the AFC.

Good Lord, the delusion of some Jets fans makes it harder and harder to be a Jets fan. A horrific track record over 5+ seasons on the job, never even came close to a single season with a winning record, pick one of the worst QBs in recent memory with the number 2 overall pick, never improved a below average offensive line, cannibalized the defensive line by letting good players go and trading for a guy who didn’t even want to play the first half of the season, and then lost the only good kicker this team had this year because he somehow didn’t think to put him on the roster. But he had that one decent draft so that’s means he’s a good GM to delusional fans I guess.

In 5 drafts Joe Douglas ran he picked only two guys after the 2nd rounds that are starters on this team, and 8 players who aren’t even in the league anymore. The offensive line is as bad now as it was when he was hired. He let the strength of the team, the defensive line, go and then traded for a guy who didn’t even want to play the first half of the year. He’s absolutely a gem of a general manager! He did such a good job in over 5 years as GM that the team didn’t even come close to a single season with a winning record. But Mike says he’s good lololol

Hire Louis Riddick as the next NY JETS GM and Brian Flors as the next HQ. Riddick is currently an NFL and college analyst with "football" connections. I watched Riddick call a college game last weekend with Bob Wischusen. He’s extremely knowledgeable and has front-office experience. Riddick would know which college players to draft and which NFL free agents to sign because he has watched them play and spoken to them as a game-day analysis.
