Scroll wheels could be an ergonomic alternative to analogue triggers, making HD versions of some Gamecube games more viable. Analogue triggers were underrated as a means of input for so many games, Super Mario Sunshine used them, Luigi's Mansion, FZero GX, Star Fox Adventures, Star Fox Assault, Smash Bros Melee, Kirby's Epic Ride, Metroid Prime 1 and Metroid Prime 2.

Its suspicious because of random source. It does make sense though because Sakurai has been asking for it. As for its gameplay purpose there could be some things but easiest thing that comes to mind is using it for a quick aim zoom option or quick options with a large inventory.

The purpose of such controls is for games like Metroid, Zelda, Pokémon Legends where you could have a quicker way to switch weapons, pokémon, pokéballs... instead of one button to enter selection and then L to go left and R to go right, you can keep both L and R clicks while adding two selectors that go left and right for two different sections. I think it's genius and now I would be disappointed if this is not real, it would feel so natural. TOTK was a bit hard to master all the combinations of Dpad + Analog sticks, same with Legends Arceus. This solves it.

It sounds like the person who held the new Switch was probably in a trailer for the new system. Also judging by TOTK Menu I could see the scrolling feature being very useful. I can also see it being used to increase or decrease something in a game. I’m sure there’s plenty of creative ideas for it including changing of weapons in a game like Metroid.

The scrolly shoulder button will be for additional usage for motion control, one joycon set up. Scroll through menus with one hand and without using the joyticks

@SwitchForce Hello, I'm Cooper Hamlyn im 20 yrs old and I have Autisum and cerable plausy, pleased to meet you I'm from Queensland Australia, I'm planning in becoming a gaming content creator here on KZbin and also become a twitch livestreamer between the 2nd half of 2024 and the first half of 2025, I'm excited for the switch pro controller version 2, i hope this gets back buttons put on as while some people think, having back paddle buttons is cheating,but i personally i like customizing/remapping things, after all I recently got a gaming controller from a company called Powerwave here in Australia, where it looks surprisingly similar to a controller in North amarica, the Surge switch pad pro, it has 4 customizable back buttons, dual virbration, motion controls, a turbo feature, back-lit LEDs on the main ABXY buttons and blu-tooth connectivity, the only thing it doesn't have over all the other 3rd party pro controller alternatives is a sync button.

As someone who’s learning games development and has played with pro controller/joycon support a scroll wheel on each side has potential allowing for precise adjustments for like a scope zoom. Also clicky wheels on a controller would be fun

I personally do not want the scroll wheel. There is no purpose and just another thing that can quickly break. As for the empty model ... Those are often used in commercial and advertising material. This way if something leaks... It's not a lot of details other than how it looks

I see a new Nintendo patent today which kind of points to a Nintendo XR Headset that is standalone and has its own processor and soc just like the Quest line and its ment to be separate from the Switch line of products and i have been following these patents for over 2 years and they keep on getting updated so is almost certain to happen and I am excited as I see what they're doing with Nintendo games in Mixed Reality on the Quest 3 and its amazing and if Nintendo got into Mixed Reality games it would be a game changer
