Another thing to note: They keep taking things out of the BP and locking it behind the shop. The purple symmetra skin while it's ok, it's taking the slot of a themed skin. ultra watch cass and ana are thrown in the shop when they could've filled that slot. things like that and the optics around it are just annoying. The cool stuff isn't something you can get because we want you to have this junk instead?

EDIT: tl;dr OW fumbled the bag even more by not investing more in its character cast. As someone who came into Overwatch relatively late (during 2018 or 2019), I always thought that OW was doing itself a disservice by not leaning more into the lore and characters. I know they had the cinematics, and there are comics and stuff like that, but it always felt like they could do more with it. I know a lot of people didn't care for it and cared more about the gameplay, but that was why I was personally interested in the PvE--because I thought it was an avenue for them to do more with the story and characters, and possibly endear them to an even broader audience. EDIT: I wanted to clarify that this comment was made as kind of an addition to Frogger's comment about how there was no follow up on the huge Anubis thing in Venture's trailer. Because, my comment seems a little random, in hindsight. I also wanted to clarify that when I said "cared more about the gameplay," I was referencing the players that cared more about competitive gameplay and sort of pushed back or was ambivalent towards OW team giving resources to PvE. I bring this up to sort of expand more on my initial comment (and because another comment in this thread made me think about it), and kind of as a rebuttal, I guess, to that notion. Because I honestly feel like OW had the potential to have its lore and characters literally carry them if they worked and invested in them correctly, and could have used them as a buffer while they sorted out competitive or role mechanics. Now that OW's competitive gameplay is pretty ass at the moment and a lot of streamers are going to variety gaming, OW literally has NOTHING to hold them up anymore as an IP or game. They stopped giving love to its characters in exchange for "focusing" on competitive gameplay, and they still can't balance the game worth shit. If, at least, they gave more to their characters, there would be some tiny stick holding up the game. CCs in the space could AT LEAST have something to do, relating to the game they loved and built their brand on. Videos about the latest cinematic or, if it ever happened, "Hey, guys, let's talk about the the newest episode of the !" Like, there would be more engagement in some kind of way. Some game companies just do not realize how important their characters can be for the longevity of their game. Yes, the gameplay is one of, if not the most important, element of a video game. There have been games I've played where the story was complete booty crumbs and the gameplay was hard carrying it. On the flip side, there have been games that have ass gameplay, but I still remain in the fandom because of its characters. I look out for more games, because I love the characters. I've gotten into games BECAUSE of it's characters. Like, I literally bought Baldur's Gate 3 for Astarion. People were literally frothing at the mouth about this sassy vampire on social media, and I absolutely loved him. Bought the game and ended up putting over 300 hours into it, because I loved every character in the game (except Wulbren). The creators put love and care into its characters, and people could see and responded to that love, too. I got OW BECAUSE I loved Cassidy and he was voiced by one of my favorite VAs. At this point in time, I can't even say I really care about these characters anymore, because OW certainly doesn't.

I would say it's something that people did cared about before. There are a handful of people in the community that loves Overwatch as an ip/franchise but doesn't play the game. Animated shorts were soooo exciting to see when they reveal the trailer of it. Lores gives heroes more background stories and allows us to get to know them more. People want to know more about their favorite heroes, what's happening in Overwatch universe, and so on. This is no longer the case in Overwatch 2. They gutted the PvE team, the lores, the environmental art...pretty much the lores and characters backstory is no more. We lost so many developers that build up the lores in the Overwatch universe back then. It makes me sad as someone who no longer cares about competitive and there's really nothing else for me to look forward too.

The Anubis teaser is absolutely a teaser for the second Clash map (if true definitely based on Temple of Anubis) and we'll likely be getting that in Season 12, which'd be perfect for Egyptian Mythology (especially due to the small gap of time between summer and halloween so Something has to fill the gap, Season 13 will probably be "Witches" mentioned at Blizzcon) I still Really Really want Anubis Ramattra Mythic for that season theme though, it'd be so so so perfect for so many reasons, please Blizzard please go with the obvious choice With recolours, I like the thought of getting both the recolour and the original skin, but another thing to make them better is the recolour having some extra effort put into it. The Volcanic/Nutcracker/Giftwrap skins for Genji/Pharah/Rein respectively are all GREAT recolours, I absolutely love them because they just have so much extra detail put into them, even if they're just reskins. The latest reskins though barely have that effort, which I suppose may be due to them being done as filler so they can work on Other Skins (which I think is okay so long as it's not overdone), but it'd be nice to see the reskins be more of, well, reskins, than recolours Also: GIVE PHARAH DAMAGE FALLOFF PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. SHE CAN SPAM BETTER THAN JUNKRAT CAN WHY IS SHE ALLOWED A TWO-SHOT COMBO FROM SO FAR AWAY (conc travels slightly faster than her normal rockets which means it lines up perfectly at practically any normal play distance if you fire it right after shooting a rocket) I genuinely cannot fathom how they give junkrat his two-shot back _on his bombs_ that's perfectly on the health breakpoint so if any healing happens he can't even pull off the two-shot, but Pharah can do it from five miles away with much larger and faster projectiles

'they're now a high risk, high reward hero!' 'you didn't do that. it's easier than ever to play them!' 'until we meet again!' maps: I feel alone because I cannot stand flashpoint and push for the sole reason that they're 'KotH but on one map!' and 'KotH but the point moves!' respectively and one KotH mode was enough. push is like, more tolerable than flashpoint but having three KotH modes while escort gets ignored despite being the best gamemode is... tiring. tho I also genuinely loved 2CP and enjoyed Paris, so maybe I'm just Not The Target Audience for three KotH modes. Speaking as a pharah player, she's the least "high risk" she's ever been. The moment you feel like you're in danger, you can just dash back behind cover and you're safe. It also means you can use the concussive blast more aggressively, so when you peek hitscans it's not even that dangerous anymore because you can mess up their aim & positionning.

In theory I love the idea of a more mobile agressive pharah who can’t stay flying forever. The problem is that her weapon is still incredibly spammy and has way too much area damage. In my opinion her gun should be reworked to reward direct hits, have a much smaller explosion radius, faster projectiles and some falloff at range. Shooting in the general direction of people is way, way too rewarding and makes her a noob stomper. Also her ult needs changes desperately. It basically instakills any hero but the pharah dies too because she can’t move. I like the pharah changes they made in season 10, but we need more.

Having been playing OW since 2016, it’s really disheartening to see Blizzard’s slow disintegration of care for these characters. No lore, no pve, all we get is a venture comic (who didn’t even get a full-effort animated shot). They haven’t even got a legendary skin yet, and this is literally their second season. Their only skin is a single epic skin that you can’t even buy unless it just so happens to be in the shop, which like the Barista sojourn skin, might not happen for another year.

Weaponized FOMO (fear of missing out) is very standard for OW2. It's their business model. Not having every skin available for purchase but instead on a rotating surprise stock - there's nothing it could be but a FOMO machine. The practical solution is to stop falling prey to FOMO (stop caring about the game, or be okay with not getting something). The ideal solution is that Blizz stops using predatory practices to finance their game. Also it'd be sick if they actually followed through on PvE but they're probably going to sell it as a separate game instead if at all.

The problem pharah has that basically no other character in the game has is that it practically impossible to kill her without a specific type of hero. With literally every other hero, you can kill them with any other hero, some may have it harder then other, but its practical in any situation. Even echo because of her flight being a very temporary thing, that she cant do for a prolonged peroid of time But pharah can be literally in the stratosphere for a good 5 seconds, and once you hit the ground, your gauge fills back up super fast, making it easy for her to get back in the air. This style of character cuts out over 50% of characters who can practically take care of her, forcing dps or support to go hitscan, but then it may cause problens else where. Like tanks, if you as a team pump them full of lead, they die, simple as, but if one support or dps isnt shooting them, that amount if damage isnt getting applied, causing them to survive because they are getting pocketed/they are mauga. Pharah just props up forced swaps in a game of teamworl where most of your teammates are stubborn

Hi! Transformer girl here Theories for possible skins in the crossover - Echo I would love to see her as the decepticon Makeshift, who is also know for being able to duplicate others. Alternatively, she has a similar physical build to soundwave's Transformers Prime design. - Bastion Both bastion and bumblebee (in some timelines) use beeps to communicate, this would pair well with bastions figure being similar to the g1 body types. Personally I would love to see Ganymede as Laserbeak. - Symmetra Soundwave is also know for their deployables as well as often controlling the ships primary functions, including portals and shields. Would be intresting to see the teleporter have a groundbridge effect or the turrets to resemble the minicons. - Kiriko Windblade is a japanease themed character that is a master of blade, which is basically kiriko's whole persoanlity. However I can also see this this transformer work with pharah due to the jetpacks. - Lucio Soundwave or Soundblaster. They fight with music and sounds, except soundwaves better. Im talking beatbox battles. I want lucio to amp up the transformers intro songs. - Widowmaker Blackarachnia (animated) or Arachnid (Prime) self explanatory Winston - Optimus primal no explaination Obviously Rammatra He shares a scary amount of similarities with Megatron. Robots created to fight finally get freedom where they meet someone who they would regard as a brother, however realises that the oppression they face will never amount to true freedom for their people. So they are forced to turn on their brothers ideals and build and army to try create peace through tyranny. They are taller than average, with a purple, red and silver colourscheme, a deep hatred for humans. p.s If the skins do not have the iconic transformation sound, we're cooked.

I just really hate the tug of war game modes. Doesn't matter if it's push, or control, flashpoint, or even conquest. I will never like the "you're winning, now they're winning, now you're winning etc." If I had it my way, every single one of those modes would be dropped from comp and only Assault, Hybrid, and even 2cp would be in it cause those are the only modes I like. I wish conquest wasn't just another tug of war game mode.

something that bugs me is that we’re kind of stuck in time when it comes to overwatch lore. like nothing is progressing. in a game like apex or valorant voicelines are constantly being updated between characters to go with new lore but we don’t have that in overwatch. when overwatch 2 first came out and we got new widow voicelines with some characters alluding to her brainwashing going away i thought maybe overwatch was going to pull an apex. they updated revenants character model and kit and had a lore reason for it. i thought maybe widow would maybe break away from talon and do her own thing but nope absolutely no new lore and it seems they just aren’t going to do anything with it with the cancellation of story mode which is incredibly stupid.

I am not sure if it was ever intended but even Aaron kellor looks sad and depressed in the news tab on the Overwatch menue screen. I feel like that is pretty much all we really need to know about season 11 in terms of how the future of Overwatch feels like at the moment. 💔🐑

The problem isn't just the recolors, most of the skins are just poor. You get maybe 1 or 2 decent skins in most of the battle passes. The only good skins are the once in the while $20-30 skins...It's also weird how little content there is in the BP that they might as well just add the recolors in there.

As a Pharah player I barely ever want a Mercy. In my experience they latch on and expect me to carry them, but Pharmercy isn't high value anymore. I'm a dive character, anyone who's not prepared to dive should be attached to our Ashe instead.

Something i really hate is that we have a themed season pass but would you look at that, there's 3 skins that could be on the pass (life savers taking the space) for 1800+ credits, WHY?!? last season we had Talon skins on the store because Junker skins wanted to be on the mirrorwatch themed pass

The Junker skins were a lot better because 1: They actually look good 2: They gave variety to a mostly one-note battle pass (blue or black with red accents skins) while still sticking with the mirrorwatch theme. Here they just put the two worst looking lifeguard skins as filler and then put the other, more acceptable and fitting skins in the shop

There is a rare mercy skin (the owl one) that costs the same amount as a regular legendary skin, (1000) and I don't think that should be happening.

I was initially a fan of flashpoint but going twelve months with the same 2 maps has completely soured me on the mode. It should be prohibited to launch a new game mode without having at least 4 maps ready to ship. It's so god damn repetitive. I can't believe they're about to introduce ANOTHER core game mode while their previous two modes continue to be starved of variety. WE DON'T NEED GAME MODES IN QP/COMP

I think that the four themes they mentioned are the main ones that they are mainly focusing on. We got tons of content from MirrorWatch so potentially the Egyptian theme will be the same. Hopefully season 12 will be good. Im bored of s11, it feels empty. Im only hyped for the item shop skins.

The Mercy 10 second rez doesn't work as a "yay" moment or a hype moment. It may turn into one but you're fate is sealed. A better way to do it, from a team based place of success, would be the timed rez with a goal that stops the death. Like get an elimination or assist within n seconds.

one thing that really bothers me about overwatch 2 is that the skins just SUCKKKKK. there was clearly a huge hit in the art department transitioning from OW 1 to 2. every skin in overwatch was fantastic and clearly took dedication and artistic vision to create. every skin in OW 2 looks like AI-generated assets that have been lazily pasted onto player models and on top of that you actually have to pay for them now 😂 i haven’t seen a single new skin to this game that doesn’t look like generic slop that anyone could make. such boring and dull and unimpressive art in an extremely unimpressive game

I think it'd be great if after like a certain amount of time (lets say after 5 seasons of the items being in the game minus mythic skins, collab/charity skins and battle pass items obviously) people are allowed to buy the items in the shop for legacy credits and for recolors it only takes half the time for them to be available for legacy credits (so 2.5 - 3 seasons if following the 5 seasons thing I mentioned earlier) this way it'd still incentivize people to buy the skins and makes it to where people who want the skins but don't want to spend money can still get them, they just have to wait a while before they can (sorry if that didn't make sense I suck at explaining :333)

i love your praise for the overwatch (team 4) artists!! honestly their work environment hasn’t been the greatest (i’ve heard via linkedin of artists being overworked and underpaid), and when i hear others complain of the recolors, i feel like it lacks a lot of empathy. the reason why there’s lack of originality in cosmetics is because of blizzard’s treatment of their artists. they need higher pay, and more artists. it’s just that simple!

SEVEN YEARS AGO I suggested adding colors to lootboxes and letting players customize skins. Now in OW2 they finally sort of did it but only for Mythic skins. I think they could now sell skins that have the textures that could be applied to other skins. So they can sell the "recolor" beach Widow skin because now players who buy that can add the new flower textures to existing skins. They could also add guns with animated textures in the shop. Buying this would then let players go use the same texture on other guns. It's so simple. These devs need to hire me for ideas.
