Great stuff. Peel the cheese! Made 5 passes through AZ, since ‘21, going FL-SoCal, then SoCal-Austin in a Tesla M3P & Starbase 4/20 in an MYLR. Agree that letting Navigator choose charging stops really helps. On my first EV trip 1st leg I prayed for the car to run low, just so I could stop short of 4 hours. Rocked FSD 90% of the time. As for “slower,” how’s 142 MPH on remote early AM stretches grab ya? Btw, in freezing temps, all the hard running actually preheats the battery, so you often get better than predicted miles! Smoke that ICE nerds! Btw, I actually prefer the slow chargers as they’re easier on the battery & I usually need 2x the time resting than charging takes. Hoping Optiwatt helps. Enjoy the fiver!

Had a great 4000KM road trip last week with my new Tesla Model Y AWD Long Range (3 weeks old), totally rocked, just totally rocked! Got rid of my 2023 Ioniq 5 due to dissatisfaction with CCS charging, both on the car and at CCS stations. That road trip with the Model Y, saved about 3 hours from our 2020 Kia Soul EV (in Canada we have the 64KWH update), man was just awesome, love the Tesla tech, love the channel, I heard Model Y's are getting delivered with Hardware 4 with new camera, and, yes and Radar (but not software enabled), might be a fix with radar enabled to stop that phantom braking on hot desert stretches of highway!

A better TTOTD is that V2 chargers have a silver band near where the handle connects to the cable. Much easier to see than the cable thickness when driving by. Got that from Branden Flasch
@sciencetestsubject Жыл бұрын
For European superchargers it's even easier to see the difference between V2, V3 and V4. V2 has 2 cables (modified type 2 and CCS2) V3 has 1 cable (CCS2 only) V4 has a totally different dispenser design and a longer cable.

In case you were curious you were right. The max te Teslas can charge is 250 kw. When you see 253 kw it’s because the car is pulling an extra 3kw to power the AC. Unlike many other brands Tesla doesn’t steal charging from the battery to power AC while plugged in. Smart engineering to give the battery all it wants and it it will pull extra that goes directly to the HVAC system

In Florida here and when I first bought my M3 I got the foolish idea to get my side windows tinted, with Florida limits. If traveling, check state to state tint limits. It’s a no-brainer to a lot of people, but I didn’t know at the time how the tint would limit my travel. I do wonder if in a state of emergency evacuation from Florida, would law enforcement ticket me in a nearby state for the tint?

That amount of solar panels will not begin to cover the electricity to charge your car but they can help some and are integrated so nicely to provide that shade cover. Its 2023 and Ford and GM and others by the day have agreed to use Teslas Nacs connectors so those empty Tesla stations will soon enough be filling up with all matter of cars and trucks. I look forward to sharing in the network with my Kia EV6 in the near future as they really do have it going on. Good video thank you.

That 252kW starting speed really is impressive! It's just too bad that it then drops off so steadily in a Tesla. By the time you've reached 80%, the power has dropped down to ~50kW. An Ioniq 5, EV6, GV60, in contrast, starts at a lower rate of ~225kW, but at 80% is still charging at ~150kW! Only then do they start to drop even more, hitting ~50kW at 90%. I just wish that Hyundai Motors would now agree to adopt NACS -like Ford, GM, Rivian, Aptera.

Do you think as charging speeds increase the low range vs long range is not as much as a problem? I am on the fence on a long range vs standard model Y
@mgm5781 Жыл бұрын
I just did a demo ride this weekend on a Model Y. My thoughts are it's a great car with a couple of quirks... First the FSD is a bit of a chore. Felt like the car required more import from me, nullifying the ease-of-use claims. It kept bothering me to do lane changes. It requires steering wheel input which must take a bit of finesse as I ended up disengaging Autopilot several times. My biggest complaint was not having an instrument cluster directly in front of me. Spent most of my time babysitting (looking at) the screen fearing I'd miss an input reminder (I did once). I see there are after-market screens that can be mounted to the steering wheel column. Not sure if those screens also show the Autopilot warnings. Your thoughts?

We need some Tesla Superchargers “of the future” here in Oklahoma. There is only one in the entire western half of Oklahoma, and none for 180 miles along I-40 from Oklahoma City to Van Buren, Arkansas. They have been saying there will be another one along that stretch for years but nothing yet. There are no Superchargers anywhere in the southeast quarter of the state either. There is a HUGE area between I-40 and I-70 with no Superchargers, or fast charging of any kind. Tesla may be good in the west coast and east coast areas, but they are totally ignoring everywhere between the Mississippi and the Rockies

Funnily enough my experience in the Netherlands is entirely opposite. The Tesla superchargers stations are poorly maintained. They are dirty etc. while the competition such as German IONITY, Dutch FASTNED or the French ENGIE have the newest, cleanest, fastest and best maintained DC chargers. Tesla in EU is stack with V2 chargers that at high occupation cut the power by 50% i.e. to 75 kW max. Tesla Superchargers in EU are competing only with price. The service is far behind the European competitors.

True, the Tesla Model Y is not a luxury car compared to traditional $60,000 cars. A friend calls Tesla the "peoples' car" like the first VW beetles and the Ford Model A. The VW is a VolksWagen or "peoples' car" in fact. He would rather have a car that stands out in the crowd to which I reply you can always spot a Tesla on the road, they don't look like any other average Toyota, Honda or Chevy. It is a luxury in terms of what it can do which is where I want to put my money and not so much in the outward looks.
