I think the person with the best chance to "Juantorena" is Sydney McLaughlin. She's got the 400 down; many people think the most physically difficult race in T&F is the 400IH. The Olympic 800 final is usually strategic which could play to her high end speed. Mu can do the 400/800 double but I don't think she can win gold in both (though she can break 50 and broke NR for U20). Bottom line will be if the Olympic scheduling/boycotts will ever make the 400/800 double possible as it was for Juantorena. He's the double GOAT, people forget that after all the heats and finals he set world records in both. The only asterisk on Juantorena was previous 800 world leader Mike Boit was part of the African boycott.....

The next possible Alberto....been saying this since the first day I saw her......is Mu.... who cares about workouts. The question is there someone who can win the 400m/800m in the next Olympics to grab one of the rarest combos in track since only Aberto won the 400m/800m in the 76 games. Mu can do it....I was more sure last year as she didnt look as good this year...think she got nailed by covid as she didnt race as much...looked tired. . Mu is the best possible alberto in the 24 games if she gets back to peak MU form like 2021.
