Brett, great video. Thank you for making this. I really want to get one of these. Not having a boundary wire is a game changer for those of us with multiple lawn areas broken up with a fence or driveway. You touched on how convenient it was to do other things while the robot is mowing the lawn, leaving you with only having to touch up the edges with a string trimmer or edger. One of my biggest motivations for wanting to get one is the heat. I actually enjoy mowing my lawn, but I don't do it as often as I should due to time, but another factor is the heat. I don't know if it is climate change, my aging, or if the sun is getting hotter, but here in Florida, I have had days where even at 10 am I feel physically ill from being so hot (usually after doing the front yard and moving to the back yard). A robot mower means being outside much less during the peak growing season (which is the hottest and most humid months for me). Either I am a big baby or I am not the only one that feels that way. A combination of the time savings and the reduction in getting overheated in the summer months is almost worth the price for my 2k sq. ft. lawn (obviously, other people will need to figure out if a robot mower would be worth it for their situation). Regardless, great video again. Thank you.

I’m on the ‘road’ 3/4 wk / month. Wife hired a land scraper for $40 a week to cut grass. Did a Quick Look and while these are Cool, $5000 expenditure would take about 6 seasons to justify the expenditure.

Yeah, it definitely depends on what you want done and the local economics for lawn care. Personally, I want my lawn done 2x week to keep it tidy, so that dramatically changes the cost-benefit calculation. My current location vs previous residence in a different part of the country also shows how different it might be for various people in the "going rate". On the fence right now, but leaning towards getting one! Best of luck, Mitchmintz111! Thanks for providing the information and the review, Tech With Brett!

Best video showing the mower transitioning from one zone to the other. I have Ecoflow Blade which has difficulty moving from 1 zone to the next. I am switching
@TechWithBrett
@TechWithBrett 3 ай бұрын
I have the Blade as well and the main problem I have is that if it goes around the concrete boarder, it can't push itself back where the Luba 2 has barely any issue. I have only had to free it twice so far where the blade gets stuck 3 times just doing the border. The sweeper is certainly its best feature. But it has driven down a flight of stairs twice.

If you think aboout buying this device keep in mind that it is chinese, in all terms. Couple items to think this: Like someone pointed out this guy here in video is doing way too close edges because next time this area can be shifted sometimes 10 to 20 cm. And then you run over flowers or so. Also this is not working near houses or trees at all. My Luba is saying pretty much every time weak signal so clearly Luba is made with weak antenna or other components. I have sended like 3 to 4 videos to support where Luba keeps moving while raining. So this rain sensor does nothing. And this is very important for various reasons 1. the cuttiing blade area is too tight and complex. If grass is even slightly weet it will stuck and you need manual cleaning. Secondly, Lubas turning mechanism is so that it will tear up and mess your lawn if its wet. You end up with quite large mud based areas as wheels are turning while not moving. This actually shows one of the weakest points in software side: Luba can not move in any radius circle! It you have even smallest correction in your boundary it will stop and reverse and then go back and forth. So this is just clearly software issue as they can not program it to utilies its hardware as those round corners you can still drive manually. Also if grass is even slightly wet those fat tyres leave so much un cut grass behing that you need always two passes and that should be taken account while reviewing the final result. Some poor engineering is also present in hardware side. Blades are only tuurning to one direction. That eats up your blades douple the time it could be. Blades also leaves trail in between as they are wrongly positioned. Most annoying problem is that support is non exsisting at all! Yes you can sometimes contact them but they have no asnwers other than reboot your device. After first year they have not made a single improvment to Luba 1 so i guess this is their policy with this second version too. I have try to talk with team that you could have 10 easy fixes but they just dont want to make it better. I just hope they could release that unfinish code and let the community to take over the development part Mine Luba is somehow leaking and pooring water out after rain so iam just wondering how long it will last. So value for the money is just not there. This could be desent but far from to be good.

There is an option to not mow on rainy days and has a sensor for that. The other day it started to drizzle a little and it wasn't enough to make it stop and it still mowed just fine. I will probably only clean under it every 3 months and replace the blades around then too.

Page 39 of the Luba 2 User Manual, paragraph 4.6.1 It's Highly Recommended to leave 150mm/6 inches of distance between the mower & All obstacles you Map or create a No-Go Zone. This is simply because of the Mowing accuracy of the Luba 2 when the number of GPS Satellite signals drops below 20. This Mower & RTK Reference Antenna need to "see" (receive signals from) at least 20 GPS Satellites at all times and can see up to 29 max. The Mowing accuracy is 50cm (2 inches) when 29 GPS Satellites are "seen" and the accuracy drops to 150cm (6 inches) when the total Satellites seen drops to 20. With the Camera, the Luba 2 can navigate up to 50 meters (164 ft) when there are less than 20 GPS Satellite signals available, at which point it will stop unless more Satellites become available. GPS Signals are weak and easily effected by obstacles near or over the top of the receiver, such as Trees, Power Lines, Big RV's, Structures and Active Atmosphere. That is the reason the instructions insist that the RTK Reference Antenna has a "line of sight" on the Horizon at 45 degrees in ALL directions. Any Satellites below that 45 degree angle are Useless due to Atmospheric Interference. So, pay attention as to where you place the RTK Antenna. If it has "clear sky" in all directions, it will eventually locate its Exact position on Earth (because it isn't moving) and any Satellite timing corrections are then sent to the Luba's GPS Receiver for corrections. The RTK Antenna needs about 10 minutes to pinpoint it's exact position. I've had my Luba 2 for only 2 months but sold my Original Luba that I became familiar w/ on how this Mower works. The Improvements on this Second Gen Luba 2 are Huge and took a Lot of frustration out of this GPS guided Mower.

I have a leveled garden where the Luba at times will not be able to see the RTK antenna. Will it be able to operate in these situations?
@uuzd4s
@uuzd4s 3 ай бұрын
@@mogenslunde801 The short answer us Yes. The RTK Reference Antenna knows its exact location because it's fixed. That exact GPS Coordinance is then transmitted to the Luba, via a 900Mhz radio signal, and is used to make corrections to the Luba's GPS receiver. That 900Mhz radio signal between the RTK & Luba is relatively unaffected within a couple hundred feet but has a Max advertised range of 150 m (492 ft). About half of the lawn on my 1/3rd acre lot is on the opposite side of the house that has the RTK Antenna attached to it. That and much of the mowing is next to the House or Garage w/ the RTK on the other side. I haven't had any problems or stoppages.

I’ve bought two of these and both broke within the month. The first one had a sensor issue, the other had a broken disc. Their customer service is really slow and they then expect you to send the Luba for repairs to Canada. It’s a great idea but not remotely close to ready but their customer service is by far the worst. If something does happen, they might tell you to pay to ship it back and they will not let you return it without “approval” even if you’re within the 30 day purchase window.

At this kind of prices (Between 2500 and 6000 canadian roupies) its a useless luxury ! A full year mowing service for 10 years will cost about the same, and you will not have to recharge or to remove the dead grass, or trim the edge ! Really I dont see where these mabufacturers are going nowadays ! This is a totally out of price, out of reach and useless piece of tech.

Everyone's $ # is different on what is worth their time, but I like it done 2x week so the lawn never gets shaggy and the grass grows healthier with less cutting shock. I could get 4 of these for the cost of 10 years of lawn service at the frequency I want... Location, intended use rate, etc all come into play. My concern is more the long-term motor/battery life span, but we will only figure that out with time. Thanks for the review, Brett!
