Ahh, just when Hydros announced theirs. I wish Neptune had redesigned the form factors for both the Trident and DOS. :(

Wonder if they improved the accuracy.
@garyhumphryes65929 ай бұрын
Biggest drawback I see on the DOS is the stupid hose connections!! Why not have push connect fitting on them. Makes life a lot better.
@aronjanssen57029 ай бұрын
Easy to add though.. and this is mostly a US thing.. here in Europe i never seen someone use what we call RO tubing for dosing additives
@raisethereef9 ай бұрын
Easy fix. Some John Guest fittings and use RO tubing. Solved
@Sammy31Dee9 ай бұрын
Don't even need the fitting....just heat the end of your ro tube a bit and slip it over the nipple and screw that nut down....I do this on all my dos and they all work flawlessly
@phatduckk9 ай бұрын
I agree. But at the same time they can eventually release new heads for the DOS with different fittings. Hopefully that happens soonish
@raisethereef9 ай бұрын
@@phatduckk it would have already happened if it was going to. Especially with the new release
@vascojardim67039 ай бұрын
The good news is that we can still use ABC reagents for the original Trident. I might just consider going back to Neptune now, unless the NP reagents will also cost 60€ per month in Europe.

Their website doesn't seem to have any information about them yet... I would really like to look and compare features to current day, and we'll as the new Hydros Maven.
@MikeGervasi8 ай бұрын
The Maven looks VERY impressive. DOwnside is I don't think there is any Apex integration due to competition.
@MikeGervasi8 ай бұрын
I have 2 Dos and they work just fine. I will pick up the new Trident as I've been saying it should have been done years ago. The testing is dead simple just add hold time.
@kyoporich9 ай бұрын
Is this just no3 and po4 testing or all in one with ALK ca and mg?
@peter56849 ай бұрын
Just no3 and po4
@MikeyColon9 ай бұрын
Not very innovative with keeping the same goofy design of the trident. I do like the new colors and hopefully the dos heads will be quieter.

I hope i can update my trident i bought 2 months ago to the new design with po4 and no3 testing, don´t want to spent another 900euro´s for a new one..

Highly doubt that. lol

They are two separate units
@billydanzz9 ай бұрын
Interesting. I had my money bet on a new 'all in one' unit. Guess I'll wait a few more years for that one. I'm sure that'll be the next evolution of the Trident.
@aronjanssen57029 ай бұрын
Will be a monster of a unit.. as i think u need 6 reagent bottles maybe even 7 depending on the reagent choice for no3 and po4.. and then u also need a massive waste collection container (1gallon+) if u want some life out of it..
@billydanzz9 ай бұрын
@@aronjanssen5702Indeed. Perhaps they would need to consider a new design, as there are other multi-test units already on the market with reasonably sized proportions.
@PicassoExoticAquatics9 ай бұрын
Or how about a pro series like GHL new line. Way nicer form factor.
@braaap20659 ай бұрын
@@aronjanssen5702 The Maven unit itself is small. The placing of bottles is another story.
@michaelisakov11089 ай бұрын
Looks like they created a whole new trident that just does nitrate and phosphate. I hope not. Hopefully it's an all in one, but I dont know where they would put all the reagent, they should have just made 1 larger machine that does it all. As far as the dos, it looks the same. They should have made one that does 3, 4 and 5. This looks like the same 2, and the only change is the buttons that say left or right, a usless update.
@billydanzz9 ай бұрын
The 'update' to the DOS is likely more than just directional buttons.
@aronjanssen57029 ай бұрын
Dos has new pcb and stepper drivers.. making it suitable for 24/7 continous operation, probably just a driver update (like from old 4988 to tmc2209 sort of deal).. The trident is just NO3 and po4.. those 2 parameters require the same or even more reagent/pinch valves than a normal kh/ca/mg trident.. I wonder how much the trident NP will be, and how the testing interval will be (and reagent cost/time before need to change)

@@billydanzz 1.5x quitter than old on slow 4x more quiet than old on fast mode.. 33 upto 49 db Large diameter tubing 6mm for dosing additive / water change / Liquid food and now suitable for calcium reactor use with 11.41 gallon per day max throughput on continuous mode. And now is rated for continuous duty (like the versa) Only works on apex a2/a3 (not classic) It has 6 speeds preset.. on high it should be 13db less noise.. thats significant, but i really dont mind noise as i personally just dosing modernreef rks supplements.. they are super concentrated, so dont have to dose TOO much
