As a metroid fan and speaking for most metroid fans, I don't really care for zero suit samus in smash, she barely appears in the metroid games if at all and has no abilities other than a stun gun, most of her moveset is just made up for smash. As a metroid fan my ideal metroid smash roster for the next game would be a reworked samus with her dread suit, zero suit is removed entirely, ridley returns basically the same as he was in ultimate, maybe up him a weight category, and then either one of three characters a reworked dark samus to show abilities they actually have in metroid prime 2 and 3, raven beak from metroid dread or sylux if metroid prime 4 has come out yet at that point since all signs point to him being the main villian of that.

To answer your question on when Mother has received anything the last time, it’s received an entire plush set and other merch in 2023, a lot of stuff is also coming in 2024
