Athletes who play in contact sports, if they are required to take physical fitness tests to be on the roster, they need to be mentally evaluated too.

Absolutely. They do that now in the NFL. It’s part of there concussion protocol. At the start of the season each player takes a baseline test. If a head injury occurs, the player cannot return until they pass with there baseline score. It’s definitely a step in the right direction. Equipment has improved significantly over the last 20 years as well. Helmets are all custom fitted to the size of the individual player. Padding absorbs more kinetic energy than ever before. The NFL has done a good job of protecting players. They were just slow at first trying to protect the brand. Then they realized the players are the brand.

The Rae Curruth situation was by far the most disgusting criminal case I’ve ever seen from an athlete. By far. And that boy’s grandmother is an angel. Being able to forgive that monster.

CTE is just not for pro football any level college and high school football can lead to CTE. I have been diagnosed with it I have all the signs of CTE. I played 6 years of football Jr high and high school. I went to a small 2a school. We didn't have a lot of players so we played nearly every snap. From Jr high to high school and I played offensive lineman and defensive end and my head was usually the first thing that got hit helmet to helmet. I will never forget the day I changed. I was sitting on the couch watching the superbowl in 2007 and it was just like flipping a light switch and have never been the old me ever again. Depression the anxiety then the alcohol and the painkillers the bad impulsive ways to spend my money. The mood swings were horrible along with the headaches and now I have a blood clot in my brain caused by all the head hits. I have been sober for 12 years now and its a fight everyday but its a fight that I know I can win. So just because you didn't play pro football doesn't mean you won't get CTE. Go to your doctor if you start getting headaches or depression mood swings anything that is not normal please get checked out.

Very sad, congratulations on getting sober.

CTE is a real thing... but doesn't excuse Henry Ruggs the drunk driver killer, Sam Hurd the drug dealer, or Rae Carruth the attempted baby killer and murderer.

This guy 100% had CTE. Possibly a brain tumor as well. Mental illness really seems like one of those conditions that we will never be able to prevent or treat. Yeah there’s a long history of meds kind of working. But that’s all meds can do. Act as a bandaid.

bruh, you showed Peyton Manning as an "upstanding member of society"?! (look up what he did in college) Try Teddy Bridgewater, next time (look up his "to the young boy" tweet)

Peyton Manning sexually assaulted his college teams female trainer. Since his dad had money and power they made the case go away. And to add insult to injury, the Mannings went out of their way to destroy the female trainers life. There is a deposition that you can read on the matter.
