They weren’t simply yelled at. They were harassed,stalked,doxxed, threatened, fired, sent to “re-education training”. This was the straw that broke the camels back. People didn’t really care that they had these jersey pregame activities because there were multiple groups being represented. Sure some didn’t like certain groups and others found it a distraction but it was grumblings at best. Sh*t hit the fan when people started doing the aforementioned when players for whatever reason didn’t want to participate. It became seen as forced compliance and indoctrination, which it was, and at that point the NHL was in a lose lose situation where they were losing money and they decided to simply remain neutral.
