Mules have abilities that are unbelievable to people who haven't spent any time with one. A mule can be more affectionate than a horse, and have a twisted sense of humor.
@lydia4127 Жыл бұрын
Well said, I never thought of it being put that way but you are absolutely right, their sense of humor is behind that have them for an individual who has only owned horses. And yes it can be a very Twisted sense of humor🤯 they always want to make sure we don't get above our station and mistakenly think we are the smartest creature on the property🤷♀️🤣 and they understand and care about people in a way that I can't explain to the average horse person.

Mules are far more sure footed then horses and they're just as intelligent as horses are. They're not stubborn regardless of what others may say or think. Mules just know what they like and what they want to do. Plus they can be just as loving as any other equine. 💖💖💖
@cambridgeratmom3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Mules are just more likely to express their opinions in your face! What you see is what you get.
@waynegilchrist15963 жыл бұрын
Actually mules are without a doubt smarter than horses! I'm sorry but that's the truth. A horse will allow itself to be, "worked to death" but a mule knows when, "enough is enough!"
@alycewich44722 жыл бұрын
@Lana, Alexander - I have to disagree with you, Lana. Mules are WAY smarter than horses. They have fascinated me ever since they came to the pasture fence to say hi to my toddler son decades ago. They would fight each other to get pets from him, but were always careful to not get close enough to him to step on or hurt him. I had horses for decades but I'm not smart enough to have a mule.
@lydia4127 Жыл бұрын
Well said except they are much smarter than horses. I have one mule, work with people who own mules, and have owned a lifetime of horses... never before have I experienced an equine that knows how to untie so many knots the only way to keep him tied is to put fresh half million Scoville hot sauce on his lead rope. Also this is the 1st time I've had an animal who has outsmarted every type of lock and clip. As of a few weeks ago the only other option I have is to get a keyed lock... which is now on my list for the hardware store.🤯 he reminds me on a daily basis both that he adores me and that I am not the smartest creature on the property🤦♀️ his favorite thing to do is take all the Locking devices off a gate(bury them in the mud,if its muddy) but leave it closed, just so that when he wants to let himself out it only takes 10 sec to do so. He always wants to give himself the option to choose where he is at any given time.🤷♀️

ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO !! I served in the Marines from 68 to 70 and the only mule I saw and got to ride had a Hercules engine and 4- drive and steer. A bunch of would ride out to the choppers and head out into the bush on them. It was an honor to serve and I'd sign up again if they'd let us win this time. SEMPER FI MARINES !!!

These Marine mule videos make me wonder what the Corps is doing for farriers. I assume that they have a program for that, but who did they tap to get it started? A good friend of mine learned the trade in the Army shoeing mules, and was in the last parade that had Army mules, which was in Cheyenne, Wyoming in the mid-fifties. The last extensive use of military mules was in Burma, and it blows my mind when I think about how much money has been wasted developing robots to do what mules have done very well for over two hundred years since then.

My grandad helped teach horse and mule packing to the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colorado during WW II. He was not drafted or allowed to enlist in the Army since he was a rancher and the sole source of support for his family. Plus he was 33 years old when US entered the war. So, instead, he was “drafted” to help at Camp Hale.

Many folks have made a living mule logging right here at home in the states. A mule team can go in after a storm and get all the downed timber without tearing up the land. Same reason a lot of people prefer them for having their woods logged out every ten years or so.

There was a product when I was a kid called "20 Mule Team Borax." It's still around. Imagine hooking up 20 mules. They hauled 36 tons through Death Valley. "History of the U.S. Borax 20 Mule Team U.S. Borax traces its roots to California’s Death Valley, where borate deposits were discovered in 1872. The first 20 mule team hauled borax a sweeping 165 miles through Death Valley in 1883. Fully loaded with two ore wagons and a 1,200-gallon water wagon, the rig weighed 36.5 tons. Though the expansion of railways led to the 20 mule team’s retirement, the team has lived on for more than a century as a trademark for U.S. Borax."

Interesting to reflect on how the choice of the mule as the Army mascot is so emblematic of the armed land forces. The mule is a bundle of contradictions held together by deep ties of character including first and foremost loyalty, intelligence, willfulness, attitude, the ability to follow a strategic plan (earn one's keep as a valuable mule) with tactical savvy (get what you want, when you want it), the ability to see through phonies, and in the end, the strength and perseverance to get the job done, with only a modicum of complaining. I like it. I bet if you asked General Mark Milley what his favorite animal is he would say the mule. By the way, it occurred to me that in the eventuality that DJT should return as POTUS, the military could be the bulwark that saves our democracy. These folks take seriously their oath to defend the Constitution.

Great ending 2000ft=610m over say 900m is like 67% grade. If one is not seeing contour lines then one is using the wrong map. If its a digital interface one would need to zoom in. If the contour lines are still not showing then this would be a localized feature not picked up on the remote sensing. Welcome to the real world lol.
