1:53 Reichswehr ("Reich defense"), not Bundeswehr ("federal defense"). Reichswehr was transformed into Wehrmacht ("defense force") by Hitler and his cronies in 1935, after The Night of the Long Knives. Bundeswehr was founded in 1955.

Yeah I thought Goering and Himmler played a huge roll as well. I was taught that they both wanted Rohm gone, so he wouldn't overpower him and Hitler, and that they basically egged Hitler on about conspiracies that he was going on behind his back that were lead by Rohm to seize power, ultimately pushing him to give the command for the Night of the Long Knives. I think the events that happened are all the same, just Goering and Himmler were working a lot behind the scenes with Hitler.

One thing I’ve noticed a lot of videos skip over is that the large majority of the SA were gay men, and were open about that. It was a fascinating detail in history because such a thing really hadn’t been seen since Ancient Rome & Greece. Germany had (and still has) a really interesting and unusual history when it comes to gayness and appreciation for the male form (see: the ubermensch). Hitler was somewhat unusual for a German man of his time in that he had a burning hatred for gay people, which is why they were included in the people sent to concentration camps. Hitler likewise obsessed over an idealized nuclear family unit, and basically made it mandatory for German women to get married and have as many babies as physically possible…which is even more strange when you realize that Hitler never had children of his own. He was a crazy, hate-fueled weirdo. A lot of what he did was not at all rooted in logic, but personal feelings.

At 0:59 you show the words „Sturmabteiling“ and „Bundeswehr“ next to each other. This can NOT be. The Bundeswehr is the army of the Federal Republic of Germany and was founded on 12/11/1955, over ten years after the end of the the Second World War, who was started by the German Wehrmacht attack on Poland on the 01/09/1939. The army of the Weimar Republic was the „Reichswehr“ not Bundeswehr.
