Fighting games are the last genre you'd expect to work on The Nintendo DS, but in the early 2000's, a few brave (and possibly foolish souls) attempted just that- leaving us with the definitively weird, yet surprisingly epic, Nintendo DS Fighting Game Experience.

I cant believe you didn't talk about the one DS Fighting Game thats actually legit. Bleach Dark Souls (funny name) was a pretty good 2D anime fighter for the console it was in. Recomend seeing some matches or combo videos on YT.

@tallestflash Well, since you're willing to play an anime fighting on DS, how about another great one? One Piece Giant Battle is a great platform fighter featuring (most) of your favorite Marineford candidates. The original game got world launch but a BETTER sequel only came in Japan, years later, titled One Piece Gigant Battle 2 Shin Sekai. It's one of my favourite games on the DS, the roster is just, BETTER than the first game, a lot of QoL changes and some new (almost minor) mechanics, all of that in exchange for not understanding anything in the game without reading a Gamefaqs Guide. @@tallestflash Dragon Ball Kai - Ultimate Butouden is pretty incredible for a DS game, there's like two Fairy Tail games on DS, one's a traditional fighter and the other's a Smash clone, and there's a whole long-running series of Katekyo Hitman Reborn Flame Rumble fighting games, too.

I was only interested in BlayzBloo as a kid because it was the only DSi Cade game with 3D Graphics. I was so interested that I waited (a long time) for it to finally be ported to America (it took about 2 years). Compared to other DSiCade games... yeah it's not even up to snuff with some of the 2$ stuff.

The constant pronunciation of "ram-LEE-thal," "BLAHZ-blue" which is understandable, if not for the fact you talked about Blayzbloo, and then proceeded to call it like it said Blazybloo. Augh, it just hurts, as someone who loves these games ('cept BlayzBloo, haven't tried it yet) from the bottom of their heart.

Hey! Apologies for the mispronunciations on some of these, I've gotten another comment about the BlazBlue pronunciation- I said it differently to exaggerate and make BlayzBloo sound more different than it actually is, I should've made that more clear! As for Ramlethal, I just reinstalled Strive and checked, and you're right! I don't know how I never noticed before

2:07 i kinda wish they made a DS version of or X2. seing what they did with X on a GBA, it could have been interesting. Don't get me wrong, it would have been a clearly inferior version, but it could have been interesting to see how Arksys manage to do a more traditional fighter on DS. 2:20 eeeh, i'd argue you can go further than that in the ds. Jump and One Piece Gigant Battle felt more fun. 8:00 Supersonic Warrios. i love that game for all the fun i had with it back then, but going back to it after getting more used to traditional fighting game feel odd. Though this game (and his GBA predecessor) where the first DB games made by Ark System Works they where followed by extreme Butoden on 3ds , which is a middle ground between SW and a more traditional air-dasher 2d fighter. Theses games walked, Super Butoden ran so that Dragon Ball FIghterZ could fly. 8:36 I had forgotten the existence of this game. Looking at the sprites, they looks like the ones from Ninja councils. a serie of side scrolling platform beat'em up. and theses games where also published by Takara tomy. my guess is it's just recycled assets. For a decent and a bit closer to traditional fighting games, you should try the Bleach games by Sega.

Yeah! This video did really well, so I'm planning on doing another standard DS one with some of the comments' suggestions, as well as a 3DS one- both after I get done with one or two of the other videos I'm working on
