@@dresden7534 It does. Cuz if you were to fight someone playing a dlc fighter and unlock it then what's the point of buying a dlc fighter? Same with Amiibos. Why spend $12-$20 on a figurine to unlock a character when you can get it for cheaper online. Also, you would be able to cheat the system and reset the Amiibo to let a friend use and then they unlock the dlc as well. It makes the company lose more money.

The dlc is 5.99, the amiibo is 29.99 that means that one amiibo is worth 5 dlc fighter unlocks. That means you would need 5 people to already have both a Nintendo switch and the game, and then it would still be the same value as if they had individually bought the dlc. Nintendo could also make it so that you have the amiibo but not the character yourself which would be weird but not nearly as bad. This is some greed on a level that is more or less unnecessary especially considering you could just link the dlc to the account that first uses the amiibo. There are so many solutions that weren’t this and yet Nintendo went for the worst option. Stop defending corporate greed.

In Smash 4 they allowed DLC Amiibo that let you fight the DLC fighter. Though keep in mind that buying the Amiibo shouldn't mean getting the DLC since you can easily tap the Amiibo on another system and fake Amiibo.

Ye so I’ve thought of it and I think Nintendo realise that the amiibo bin files are shared online, so if they gave dlc with the amiibo, people would go and buy an amiibo card online of each character totaling up to around 20$ for all characters rather than paying the full fleshed 55$ dlc.

I felt the exact same way when the Mewtwo & Lucas amiibo dropped during the Smash for era. Sure, I had them in the game by the time the figures came out, but Nintendo couldn’t throw the consumer a bone and add a DLC code for the fighter as the amiibo figure costs MORE than the fighter on the eShop? I mean they didn’t do it so they could get more money, but come ON, that sucks and it’s scummy. Even then, Nintendo should have made the feature where scanning the amiibo of a fighter from the base roster of Ultimate would unlock them… It would have made the roster unlocking progress much, MUCH faster.

Bros literally never seen any of the other amibo for dlc fighters ig. Also no it kinda doesn’t, amibo aren’t supposed to give competitive advantages in games, they’re a collectors item with minor gameplay assists in non competitive games, or gimicks in others. Why would I spend 30 to buy an amibo to get the character, when I could buy it cheaper in game. And on top of that, what would we do about characters that have separate existing amibo, how would we they keep track of the character purchase on your Nintendo account. There’s so many problems with that.

For a collector, I absolutely see these being worth 15-30 bucks, maybe not to you, but the test market clearly did. You’re probably not the target audience.

Given that SSBU's lifecycle is already over (and that the Sora amiibo will now come out in 2024), Nintendo should: 1: Give the DLCs away for free to all players, regardless if they bought the content or not. And give everyone who bought Fighters' Passes 1 and 2 a full refund. (if not immediately, then at least do it before either the Switch eShop shuts down 10-13 years from now or Nintendo shuts down SSBU's servers first.) 2: Release a patch that lets the Amiibo unlock any character, regardless if it's base game or DLC. (again do it when either the Switch eShop shuts down or the game's servers shut down first.) or 3: Release a complete edition of the game with all DLCs included in the cartridge. (The most likely solution.)

So, I have a few things to say about the problem of yours. First of all, I don't think it's fair you don't get the DLC character when you scan it in the game. Tried this once with the Roy amiibo in Smash 4. Secondly, I think it's fair because it would take a while for the game to update just to get the individual DLC character, and that you shouldn't just get the DLC for free. Honestly the Smash Brothers ones are kind of pointless. Most people just use them for other video games like Zelda games and Mario games because a lot of them are Nintendo characters.
