@@ShadyPlatinum777 a lot of those people probably just gave in to the so-called ease and convenience of digital and/or streaming without questioning it. They don't realize what they're losing. They lose a sense of ownership, especially as a consumer. They put the power in these companies' hands and don't give it a second thought. Their ownership of media is slipping away and they don't even realize it. They're spoon fed all of this ease and convenience nonsense and gobble it right up without asking why. All that does is make it easier for these companies to have greater control over their content and they manipulate them even further. I do see digital and streaming as a problem. Sure they're good and convenient in some ways but i look beyond that and i see the flaws that other people don't and i refuse to support it. Sometimes when i talk to people at work, or the store, or whatever, if we're discussing games or media in general i tell them i buy and support physical media. Hell, i just placed an order through Best Buy for Prey on dvd. The more we show these companies we want physical media we can try to sway that needle in our favor even if it's just a teeny bit and say we still want it.

@@ShadyPlatinum777I disagree. I think a lot of adults saying stuff like that don't realize that kids are a huge audience for video games. And many times, kids get their games from going to target with their mom, being left at the gaming aisle, and picking out what they like. Also, just having games physically present on stores and listed on Amazon is marketing by itself. There is a lot of value to selling games physically.
@boo1_gaming927 Жыл бұрын
I've always preferred the consoles from Nintendo over the handhelds, but they're both good. Having the Switch do both is awesome, as the video stated. I found myself buying similar games for both handhelds and consoles. There were 2 different Mario Karts and 2 Different Zeldas on 2 different systems. For a game like Mario Kart, it's better on a console, even though I started my Mario Kart journey on the DS. For a game like Zelda, while it was good to play on handhelds, I still rather play them on my monitor. But having the same game when going to handheld mode is a breath of fresh air. No longer am I held back from the limits of handhelds from the past. Now, the console is the handheld as well. Nobody else has captured that magic as well as Nintendo has in a hybrid system. Let's hope Nintendo's next system is just as badass as it is being rumored.

Well done and well said. As a long time Nintendo gamer who like you still own and play my retro Nintendo systems, I love the Switch as well. Playing AAA games on the go is amazing and "switching" from portable mode to my TV just works. I just picked up a Switch OLED and have been loving it. I got a 1 TB micro SD card and as much as I love physical media as well, Nintendo has been killing it with their latest e-Shop sales which allowed me to quickly grow my Switch library. I know the Switch 2 is around the corner but I don't really care because the Switch still has so many great games I have yet to play I will be enjoying some good games on it for a while to come and the OLED screen just looks amazing. Also, I may be in the minority here but I think Labo offers some of the most creative things done with a game console ever and I can't wait to get some sets. I'd been so satisfied with the previous gen PS4 that I didn't buy any of the new gen consoles. There was simply nothing to persuade me to 'upgrade'. Fast forward to earlier this year and Zelda TotK was released and there was a special edition Zelda-themed console for sale at a greatly discounted price (console + game for the price of a standard Switch). Really affordable and something I could stomach especially in this economy. The thing that really surprised me i.e. something that I didn't even know I wanted, is the portability. I'm currently almost done with breath of the wild and theres still so much more games I'm waiting to play. I honestly can't imagine a console with a different design that brings more features, I think the switch design is quite possibly the future of consoles. Still personally prefer the Wii U and 3DS era over the Switch. During that era Nintendo was way more personable (watch any direct from then), seemed to embrace innovative games (Wii U gamepad and dual screens of 3DS) and easily accessible communities (Miiverse and free online). The Switch on the other hand has paid online, distant communities since it replaced Miiverse with posting on Twitter, worser innovation thanks to the Joycons being worse than Wiimotes at motion control and a lack of quality standards since it is a hybrid console and doesn't enforce UI standards for games to be readable in handheld mode (FE Three Houses being the worst example). The library on Switch is larger and more varied since it has sold well and has had large third party support but I also believe Nintendo has been lackluster in its first party releases compared to the amount of games they released in support of the Wii U and 3DS. Tl;dr: I'm salty the Switch is successful and we will likely never see the innovative games that are possible from dual screens of the Wii U or 3DS ever again.

I disagree. The main appeal is that you van play whatever games you want on the tv, and pop the Switch out whenever you have to go somewhere. People wouldn't be interested if only some games could be hqndheld.

The switch for me is basically my number one favorite Nintendo console! My Story: back then when the switch was announced I wasn't that interested in it since I still had the Wii U and the 3DS, However, after playing a demo of Super Mario Odyssey and trying out the hardware for the first time, I absolutely loved it. On Christmas of 2017 I officially got the Nintendo switch, However, it was only for the family but I still enjoyed it regardless. As I was slowly becoming a switch owner permanently i was reading some articles and I did come across some videos and posts on why the Wii U and 3DS era had some massive flaws and I understood its problems. The switch basically helped Nintendo make a lot more money than the 3DS and the Wii U era, fast forward into 2019 I finally got my own personal Nintendo switch lite that I can finally take with me anywhere on the go and throughout that year and as of today, I still enjoy my switch lite! While there is no virtual console on the switch, but at least there are the arcade archives, Sonic Origins, Pac-Man museum +, Mega Man legacy collection, TMNT cowabunga collection, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Super Mario Maker 2 (I know it doesn't count as a retro collection but the 3 classic 2D Mario game still play the exact same thing as their original 2D counterparts did but in a more modified look) Metroid Prime remastered, pikmin 1 and 2, Shantae and the other third party retro game collections for switch, for me that's basically the virtual console we have and I enjoy it! Other than that, I absolutely love this video! 👍🏻

Yes! Physical gaming IS the best. I agree that nothing beats the feeling of popping open your game case and inserting the cartridge or disc in. Plus, there’s the whole aspect of game ownership. Physical games: you own the game, it’s yours to keep forever. You are not in the mercy of devs and digital storefronts. You can easily sell your copy if you just don’t want it anymore, or give/share it to friends and family. Digital gaming: you somewhat own the game, but are still at the mercy of the digital store front staying open and the devs themselves not delisting the game Cloud gaming: You do NOT own the game, and are at the mercy of the service provider keeping the service alive In a world where everything is going digital and subscription based, and where ownership is dying, it’s nice to have something that you actually own. This is also the reason why Vinyl records and discs remains a popular and strong medium of listening to music. Cause you have a copy of your favorite music that you get to keep forever, and still nothing beats the feeling of popping in a music disc or a vinyl record.

The PS5 has great branding and it deliberately targets 'jocks and thugs' minded guys as they are shallow and just want to show of their wealth and mostly play sports games or COD/GTAV. Even a Switch 2 is not as needed because it will appeal more to the hardcore or (graphic whores😅) than it does to the overal Ninty fans. I loved the Switch when it first came out, but I stopped playing when my kid (who got old enough to start playing with me) overwrote a 100% Lego save game that I spent a lot of time chasing after every little collectable. There wasn't a way to protect my save games cos there's nothing stopping him from selecting another profile when starting a game, or if I had stopped the Switch mid-game, he can just resume my game and blow away my progress. Then a few years later I made the realization on how to overcome this... I just bought another Switch 😆 I've now spent over 200 hours on ToTK and finished a bunch of games I never had chance to. Yea games don't look that great (if you look carefully), but that hardly matters when you're having fun. That is the point of playing video games, right? Then you read, don't do this and that to a point, I just can't believe you ship such a product, without basic protection coverages at the very least, against the dust or fiber cloth - > you need to buy it from third party retails, it's unacceptable for the price. Doesn't justify cutting short on basis accessories like that. The only reason why I didn't return vr is because I am enjoying it too much.. But the problem remains, in a sense they focus too much on ' innovating' but pay little to no effort, to elevate durability problems of previous generation. What a great video again! 👏💯 I hadn't really thought about it much before, but it's really smart that the Switch only plays games. Great "keeping it simple" design. Your story pretty much reflects my journey with the Switch too. Only thing that differs is perhaps that I think that the joy-cons are near masterpieces incorporating so much fun stuff. I love that they have all the "fun stuff" like motion controls baked in, but this time around not forcing anyone into some control scheme paradigm like on the Wii. Been playing a lot of couch co-op with the kids/family, so it was a real godsend that the controllers are two in one moneywise. Controllers are super expensive and boring to buy (instead of some new fun game). I'm hoping the joy-cons would be backwards compatible on Nintendo's new system like the Wiimotes were on the Wii U. I wasn't too upset with the Wii U to Switch situation because I bought all the games discounted or as selects at the end of its lifespan, but if they do it again with their next hardware - not being backwards compatible with Switch carts, I don't know how I would be able to handle it! 😅Bought so many physical games for the Switch over the years, at full price or near (also no selects this time around it seems). It would've been interesting to see how well Wind Waker would've done on the Switch. The the Game cube and Wii U versions sold pretty well although they were some of Nintendo's least commercially successful consoles. I suppose they have to save something for their next console.

Thank you so much for watching the video! I may have been too harsh on the Joy-Cons. They aren't terrible, but I still don't love them. I use them quite a bit while I'm traveling. I also like that they have motion controls. There's just something about the way they feel that never resonated with me. I much prefer the other offerings out there. That's cool you like them though. We all have our likes and dislikes. If Nintendo pulled what they did with the Wii U on the next console, I don't think it will go over as well as it did with the Switch. Hardly anybody played those Wii U games. That's not the case for the Switch. It's insane how many people have one. If they did port those games over, let's be honest, I'd probably buy those games again because they'll have some sort of enhancement. But I'd do it begrudgingly, again. Let's just hope it's backwards compatible. Hopefully we'll see Wind Waker and Twilight Princess on the next console. It would be a shame to leave those game behind on the Wii U and GameCube.

Everyone think switch is lacking, bro its one of the best selling consoles for a reason. Its different and easy for everyone to understand! Forget tech specs, if people understand what it is, it will sell!
@NeanderMeander Жыл бұрын
You are right! This is so well said. I think people get too caught up in specs. Something needs to be fun as well. That's what Nintendo understands.

The switch is almost my all time favourite console it's missing a few games I would like to have on the system, Twilight Princess and Wind waker hd we still need a star fox f zero games would still like a good tomb raider game even if its an old one maybe a silent hill game a port sonic adventure 1&2 it's almost my favourite console to have all the games in the one place
@chunkymonkey7983 Жыл бұрын
I feel that Starfox is very of its time and wouldn't really fit well in modern day.

I'd love to see those games too. Luckily I have those two Zelda games on the Wii U, but it would be nice if they were on the Switch. I haven't played many Sonic games. I really got into Sonic 2 on the Game Gear which was awesome!
@NeanderMeander Жыл бұрын
I've felt that way too, but I haven't really played that many Sonic games. I need to play Sonic Mania. I've heard it's really good on the Switch.

I don’t think it has enough worthwhile titles that are really good. I play a lot and so I move through games quickly plus I absolutely don’t like Japanese and anime style content which is like 70% of the library

That’s cool. I know the Switch isn’t for everyone. What do you prefer to play?

@@NeanderMeanderBeen on xbox since the beginning and ps5 since January. Had some nintendo and sony handhelds too. I would 90% be getting the switch if there wasn't a major new console coming next year from them. I've been debating whether to get it for about 7-8 games I'm interested in but it would cost too much for something temporary.

It really does feel like it’s getting better and better. So many great games to play. Hopefully Nintendo can get this kind of support from developers on their next console.

The title was kinda obvious because the switch is an amazing console
@NeanderMeander Жыл бұрын
Yeah it is. I thought I let everyone in on what I was thinking with the title and thumbnail. It's great to see so many people being positive about the subject. I was hesitant to post this video because I thought it would get a ton of negative comments. So far there have only been a few. That's a good indicator that shows how great the Switch is.

Honestly after having an OLED switch since it came out. I don’t think Nintendo is for me and I really don’t like it much. Not to mention it’s way too expensive to collect games on it. And almost every title I want to play is third party anyways.

That's cool. Not everything is for everyone. I was once all in on PlayStation. Now I don't even care what Sony is up to. It's crazy how we can change so much.

@@NeanderMeander I’ve unfortunately not touched mine since finishing TotK. Right after that I just didn’t feel like there was anything else pulling me back to it. I play a ton of games on PC and now completely lost in the 3ds library. Had a brand new black friday edition New3DS sitting on my shelf for the longest time and decided to mod it. In my opinion the games are amazing but the console has a lot of room for improvement. My day 1 switch has joycon drift, loud fans, and awful battery. On the other hand, botw, smash ultimate are 2 of the greatest games of all time, and I can play pokemon on it
@NeanderMeander Жыл бұрын
The first version of the Switch was really cool at the time. But, it is definitely the worst performing Switch out of all the models. My day 1’s battery life is really bad. I upgraded just because of that. Though, my Joy-Cons are still going strong. I haven’t experienced the drift on any of mine. You’re also right, the Switch game library is absolutely amazing!
