I don't think Sean Murray is evil. I do think he and his studio intentionally misled people in order to sell more copies of their game.

The interviewer asks about a lot of features that would be really dumb and extremely difficult to code for, but Sean Murray immediately promises that they'll be in the game no matter how dumb or impractical they are. I mean, interplanetary cross-breeding? Fuckin' really? What sane game developer would promise something like that? More important is the way Sean Murray is talking. He says things with just a little bit of uncertainty in his voice. If it were a game developer listing features or ideas he's already had for the game, he'd have no problem talking about them. This. Pre-ordering does not benefit you the consumer in any way, shape or form. If anything it incentivizes companies to actively screw you over. Take for instance SF5 that had pre-order exclusive costumes. So these costumes were created before the game was released....as in, within the development cycle....but even if you pre-ordered, you were only given ONE....not even the whole set. Planets orbiting the sun *was* a thing, in the beta, as far as I know, and was removed due to people complaining about it being extremely disorienting. Calling it a tech demo is a bit unfair since there are so many players spending a significant portion of their day in the game since launch. Tech demo would suggest that it doesn't hold interest for more than a couple hours at best. A fairly popular theory going around right now is that they actually made a better game (doubtful), but it was just impossible to run on a PS4 which is the equivalent of a low end 2011 laptop, so Sony forced them to use an old build without most of the features to make it just barely run. Then again there's the Stephen Colbert interview where Sean shows off several planets as a "demo" but they're clearly hand crafted as he never actually types in a name for any of the stuff he's naming.

Actually, about planet namek. Even though the anime screws up timing, in reality it was probably 5 minutes. Why? Kaioken. It lasts for a single heartbeat, yet in dragon ball z could last for a very long time. It's because the fighters move so fast that even a heartbeat is a long time. So it could have very well been five minutes. Unfortunately, the speed at which the fighters move would make dialogue impossible, so they just ignore that part. I'm fun at parties I swear!

@@thealien_ali3382 They added full multiplayer about 2 years ago. The game is actually good now with 3.0 just coming out most of the features sean said we'd get have been added. I would highly recommend No Man's Sky, I have well over 500 hours of playtime. it's really great and it's on sale on steam for 50% of meaning it's only $30.

Honestly even after the update im still disappointed with the game. Sure everything has slight differences in appearence, but it all feels the exact same. A tiger creature with 3 heads and 7 legs will act the same way a panda creature with fourteen eyes and two legs will. Its not the fault of the makers of the game, its just not realistic to design such a massive universe that doesnt feel the same. They shouldnt of advertised the game as a triple A game and they maybe should of made 5-6 extremely detailed and large planets rather than billions of boring ones

I would suppose that he really did have the ambition to add all these things, but realized it was undoable and, perhaps in combination with release date pressure from Sony, decided the current build would 'have to do.' That's an unfair comparison. It's not like the missing features were so massive. They were all minor features, outside of the hint of multiplayer. Using your comparison, it would be more like; Here's a brand new car for $10,000. It's spacious, has good AC, lots of leg room, comfortable interior, and a great design. Oh, but don't mind the lack of a center console. We didn't think it would be that important to listen to music or control your AC/heat temperature manually. That's more accurate. Yeah, it sucks, but it's still a car. No Man's Sky is still a game, it's just missing some things that would make it much, much better.

Luke Puffer Yeah, I've cleared it too (Well, getting to the first center), and I thought it was... well... fine, for what it was. Disappointing, for sure, but I was still pretty sucked into the planets and space flight. And the missing features are not that massive, especially when the main advertisements for the game were the 18 kajillion (I know it's a fake number) planets and being able to fly seemlessly from planet to planet. That was the main features, for sure, but I think too many people were hoping for a Mass Effect experience from this indie team. I personally didn't expect that at all, so my disappointments were simply not being able to do small things like run into other players, land on asteroids, and join factions. None of those features are "massive" by any means, but they would have definitely made the experience a little more fun. And calling for Sean Murray to die is excessive. C'mon. Be a little more mature than that.

I was told this game "was worth 60-70 dollars now". I was told everything was fixed. You can even see most of the most recent comments saying ALL THIS STUFF IS IN GAME NOW AND THIS GUY IS A HERO NOT A LIAR. Bullshit! I have over 20 hours into this game and I swear I have never and I mean NEVER played a game that crashes more than this game. You still can't run into a player on a planet or something like he said you have to use MP Hub which is NOT the same thing as randomly running into someone. Really, and I'm far from the only one that thinks this after you visit 5 planets you have seen em all. They all re-use the same SHIT over and over again just with different colors and "hot cold fungal". When I revisit planets it resets the stuff I custom named back to what it was named before. Terrain and trees and shit just pop up outta no where, or have extremely low-res for no reason. The planets FOR THE MOST PART still don't look as good as the E3 one. Every one out of like twenty planets you visit will look cool. The other 19 will be boring desert/frozen bullshit. If I wanted a mining simulator I could of just played Runescape. But hey mining on runescape was BETTER because shit didn't overheat and you could talk and bullshit with other players here you just look at a rock and shoot at a rock. I didn't play this game until this year, and yes it is probably 2x better than it was at launch BUT that's not really saying shit. It's 50% off right now on steam for 30 bucks and that's still way to much to pay this is a 20 dollar game maximum. I've seen people play 300-400 hours but what do the hours consist of? It's not quantity it's quality and really I'd take a fun 2-3 hour game than what I've sank 20 hours into here. 5/10 game here.....if you enjoy the sights and scenes [because that's all the positive comments talk about is scenery and how COOL VR is] that's fine. But for people and players like ME that expect something DEEPER. Look elsewhere. It's still not here.

I have 3 different accounts\savefiles, visited hundreds of planets, space stations, played multiplayer with my friends and so on. "You still can't run into a player on a planet or something" yes you can. If you are on the same planet you can. Or are you really suggesting there is a high chance to meet somebody in a universe consisting of 18 quintillion planets? are you mad? Now if it's a popular place, I meet people there all the time "and I'm far from the only one that thinks this after you visit 5 planets you have seen em all' what are you smoking? there are tons of different planets, insanrly different I might add. I still keep discovering different biomes after hundreds of hours.

Most of them have been fixed already. - Planet rotation was in the game but has been (contcept changed), - You can name your ship now, also ships have different classes. - We have Freighters now. - How planet looks from the space is now translate to what is actually on the planet. - We can't lad on asteroids but it would be pointless anyway. - Yes factions and reputation actually matter now. And we also have levels of conflicts in each solar system. - We can not hack the door but there always been some puzzles inside the buildings - Resources on different planets - yes. More complex crafting - yes. - Trading has been improved a lot in the 1.3 update. - Multiplayer is in the game currently, and will be improved in the future. - Animals has own path... I missed something ?

Timeyin Sholaye because he wasn't telling lies he said not all features would be in the game at launch and now a lot of that stuff has been added and is continuing to be added.Hes not a liar he was just pushed by Sony to release his game that wasn't ready.He cares about the game not about money which is why the game is still being updated for free at this current time.The game will become what he said it would be just take a look at the upcoming update and previous ones and tell me he's a thief and a liar when he could of took his money and ran but didn't despite having more than enough to live on for the rest of his life
