He's something of a legendary footballer, one of the best defensive midfielders in the world for a number of years but because he's so lowkey, people forget. It's crazy to think he was on only £500 a week before moving to Dortmund.

Tbf his managerial career probably doesn’t help perceptions nowadays either, as a 19 year old I’ve grown up knowing him for his stints at Villa or Ipswich which weren’t exactly riveting so given how understated he was in his playing career that’s probably overshadowed his achievements in the 90s

Kree was a striking figure, but I had completely forgotten about him until just now (kein Schwarzgelber). Alan Shields Hamilton South Lanarkshire Scotland. I am originally from Elderslie next to Paisley in Renfrewshire. When Paul Lambert was with Saint Mirren, my uncle Tommy was Paul Lambert's driving instructor. I remember The Champions League Final of the 96/97 season both Borussia Dortmund & Juventus had some teams back them. I think all of Scotland was, despite to see Paul Lambert lift that Champions League trophy that night. Hand on heart I can say this I expected Juventus to be Champions they looked on paper like they had more quality but in the end Borussia Dortmund did it. And I think all of Scotland cheered that nigh as we seen one of our own lift that European Cup it will live long in my memory personally. Paul Lambert was some player myb not a flash Harry but he always did what he was asked to do well apart from when Dick Advocaat wanted him to be his right back at P.S.V then during that trial his agent turns up & tells him Borussia Dortmund want to sign him with his agent Paul races to Dortmund the rest is history.
