I feel like the entirety of little nightmares is a commentary on media, child labor and exploitation, and how it all effects everyone. In the first game, it's about how the food places have an addictive feel to it all, hence why the guests are eating nonstop, and in one of the concept arts, six is showed to be working there, it can also be about how some of those places also want to harm children, I think it's shown by how the guests want to eat six, and the nomes are little kids, forced into work by their parents. I'm not too sure about the very little nightmares But I think the second game is about child exploitation on the TV, it's obvious. The reason why Mono would like to hide his face would be to, well, protect himself from crazy fans, the people who watched the tv run after mono once it is turned off, it could be because, 1.its because they are addicted to the point of having the tv off is like death to them, or 2.just like crazed fans, they just saw their favorite actor! So of course, they would run after him to get to him, and I feel like the scene where mono takes off his mask could be to show that... He doesn't want to act anymore, he doesn't want the cameras all around him anymore, and the thin man could be like his manager, making him do it more. Six in this case, could be like those friends of the celebrities who leave them once they are no longer famous, and the ending overall could be about how he never got to quit it, how he always felt trapped and watched by everyone as he grew to be an old and bitter manager, turning to the very thing he hated. I hope I explained myself well, I'm on mobile, so the formatting and all that jazz can be bad, my apologies for that.

Her powers seem to fit into the characteristics of transmutation, the trading of one thing for another to change the state of something, but there is always a price of some sort. Nomes being mushrooms are actually a good explanation to why Six ate the nomw instead of the sausage.Nearly all the food in the Maw is made of human meat and Six seems to know this and Nomes being normal mushrooms would make sense so I think eating the sausage would be cannibalism instead of eating a Nome too

I love the Alice in Wonderland and Lovecraft references, as they seem to indicate more and more of it being an actual Nightmare. Spoilers for Ye Olde books ahead. In 'Through the Looking Glass,' Alice comes across a Red King who's sleeping, and one of the Tweedles tell her that they are all a part of his dream, and will cease to be if he awakens. Which he does at the end when Alice Checkmates him. Just like the Boy in the school. The Eldritch dream and reference of Color coded kings in Lovecraft's works are a constant. One of which is a Crimson King, and his being Naughty.

Only just noticed, the nomes at the end of the main LN1 story have shadows that match their shapes in Nome form, NOT, the shape of children (as Six is walking up the stairs out of the Maw). Deliberate design, or something that the devs changed when the dlc was made? Are there Nomes that were always Nomes and not kids turned into Nomes, or are all Nomes formerly kids???

Where did mono get his tv powers from. Is the maw itself cursed or are the guessed cursed to get onto the maw Is shadow six a cruse or a guilt feeling? Who's the kid who gave six that piece of bread? In the kitchen upstairs the chefs have a picture of a boy on the wall who also appears on the frame wall from the dlc and i think also the little nightmares art work, who is he. In the kitchen the fish hanging from above are Incredible huge size but in the last chapter outside of the maw there us a seagull that looks pretty normal size compaired to the maw. Is everything big or is six just small? Had to make a lot of questions so he mabey will read them and continue the Theories. Cuz they are kind of empty now.

This makes me think about something. Keep in mind I haven't watched the video yet, so I have no clue if you've said this already. Anyway; seeing that the Lady (as you probably know) is the only one we've seen so far that can turn children into these nomes, it seems pretty clear that she has been to the Hunter's house before. Maybe to pick up some taxidermy, or something like that. You also see nome hats at the school, which probably means the nomes had been there before. And even if the Lady hadn't been to the Hunter's house before, a nome could've ran away from the Maw and ended up there. Either works, really. This is just a thought I had, carry on

Maybe the Runaway Kid didn't get turned into a Nome, but Nome's simply sprout up in places where kids or adults get their life forces drained until death? Like how mushrooms sprout up in places of decay. So when the Kid died, the Nome appeared on that very spot some time later.

The question is why are children getting turned into nomes? When the Lady does it it's seem to be some kind of punishment, only it dosen't seem like such a bad fate in the world of Little Nightmares, especially if, as you said, most of the monsters don't bother with them. After all, this a world where most children get killed on sight or turned into some kind of abominations. So either being a Nome is considered a fate worse than death or that the nomes have some kind of function in the Maw. We do see a lot of them in the boiler room and it seems reasonable to me that like the other people who get turned into monster they serve some kind of purpose.

I dunno if you’re taking suggestions, but there’s a series of short games that are apart of something called the “… of the Killer” series. “Hands of the Killer”, “Flesh of the Killer”, the like. There’s a lot of commentary on different things like consumer culture, the glamorization of gruesome things, architectural trends, the like. It’s super fascinating, and honestly, I love the art style. It reminds me of Parappa the Rapper, a bit. There’s so many critical points of society in those games, and… a lot of cults. So many cults. College cult, theater cult, artist cult, the like.

What if six ate the nome to experience a 'liberty cap' trip to see the error of her ways...and in fact she is actually THE lady, soo the younger self decided to eat her older self to end the cycle of future and present merging after she reluctantly dropped mono...her 'older' self was obviously feeling the burden, hence why she hated the sight of her own face.... the music that the lady listened to correlated with six's dark moment at the end of the second game! That's why she hated and ate her future self.....

Ok so an idea just popped into my head and it's probably really dumb but I might as well say it anyway. Going off of the idea that the nomes are potentially poisonous mushrooms and six ate a nome, maybe that affected her in some kind of way, idk how. Or maybe the names have some kind of lure or scent or something that made six eat the nome and she wasn't evil all along or something idk lol like 99% chance I'm wrong. That would explain the chefs chasing after the nomes, not sure about the guests though, maybe the scent is exclusive to six like maybe the lady is using the nome to lure six into her quarters but her plan went wrong. Seems like the nomes throughout the game are set up as if six is following them. Sorry for long comment.

For me the existence of them are linked to the maw as a kind of ship crew. Taking in mind that little noghtmares takes a lot of things from Hayao miyazaki and studio ghibli I always have seen them a bit like the black poder things that move coal to the boilers of the bath house in chihiro and a bit more in distance to calcifer in howls moving castle. I mean the maw its a vehicle and its crear that someone its maintaining the things running and in our own culture little kids have been used to reach to difficult parts inside machines and mines. So in my mind the are like: walking mushroom oompatha loompas are working all the day and that maybe by the same nature of the maw as a seafaring vehicle they could hide or even get energy for themselves like actual mushrooms from the moisture and such things.
