I have one of the original ones and bought it myself from V+P , I think the problem was Nortent gave to many away free to influencers who proceeded to try to compare it to other tents twice the price . I love my vern and will stick with it for many years to come . Fair play to Nortent for replacing the poles to heavier ones 👍. Also Valley and Peak top class for customer service 👌. I buy all my tent stuff there . Cheers guys .

very fair review...if you want to go winter wildcamping in UK, the vern 1 is more than capable, but I wouldn't want to go out in the 10% most extreme weather conditions, so it's perfect for me. Absolutely love it, it's a great tent for the price.
@Phil.Oakley2 ай бұрын
perfect description there. its perfect for my usage and gives me that bit of reassurance that if it gets windier during the night it will handle it no issues. i'll never storm chase in it and as mentioned, if its looking to be bad weather i'll keep my pitch lower down than up on the tops. being tall this was the better option than a soulo and gave me that bit of extra room to open the doors out and be able to sit there when cooking etc without stopping down. i swapped the pegs for eastons that i got from yourselves too to help keep the weight down a little.
@ValleyandPeak2 ай бұрын
Exactly that. I always recommend seeking a more sheltered spot if the winds pick up. It's a great choice of tent for tall people and, like you say, a lot more spacious than the Soulo. Thank you for watching.

Dan, I sold my Hilleberg Unna to purchase the vern 1 Pc from you guys, I can tell you now that it is as strong as the Unna but suits my needs better with my camping style, I loved the Unna but in high winds it was a nightmare to erect. I went for the vern 1 PC as it is a one piece tent and very quiet in windy conditions, I seam sealed it and Nikwaxed the outer and it’s the perfect winter option for me and my dog. Cheers for the footprint too mate. Atb. Tony

Pre ordered my Vern 1 from Valley and Peak when I saw all the positive reviews. I had really wanted a Hilleberg Soulo until I saw the price! Seam sealed it to be on the safe side and am very happy with it. 30mph wind is probably as much as I’ve been in and the tent was fine.

That completely makes sense. I only want to “dip my toe” into winter camping, so my question is how well this performs for the other seasons. I’d definitely buy a 3+ but probably not a 4-.
@ValleyandPeakАй бұрын
It performs extremely well all through the year. For a 4-season tent, it's really well ventilated, which makes it a great choice for warmer months, too.

I've been looking at these tents myself. Thank you for not doing the bog stand Vern vs Soulo comparison 😴
@hedleythorneАй бұрын
Very fair review. Quick question (and I know comparisons are not flavour of the month! but...); it seem a strong tent, how would it's wind holding compare to something like the Abisko Lite 1? The Lite 1 flaps around a lot but is lower profile. I am trying to gauge whether the extra weight of the Vern is worth it for the extra room. Definitly not comparing either of these to a Soulo though! Duly subscribed.
@ValleyandPeakАй бұрын
The Vern 1 handles the wind really well. However, the Abisko light does perform slightly better due to its low profile and design. With the space you gain with the Vern 1, it's most definitely worth the weight gain, and it's far better ventilated, too. Thank you for watching

I got this tent when it was released in the UK, is it true I can now get thicker poles ?

Yes, the tent now comes with 9.5mm poles as standard.

Yes if you get in touch with Nortent they will send out upgraded 9.5mm poles free of charge. If you bought from another supplier you may have to liase with them

Just received the tent from you guys, should the tent have come with seam sealant? As ive seen a few vids of people receiving seam sealant with their vern 1.

The updated Vern 1 (which you will have) doesn't require seam sealing.

Is there a way of pitching the footprint and tent together? Ive seen people do it in other videos where there seems to be a red toggle? But I cant see one on the one I received.

@2wheeledoap99327 күн бұрын
I’ve got the Vern 1 with footprint when they first came out and you can attach the footprint to the main tent and pitch it all together and no need to ever detach it. As you say there is a red toggle to make sure you attach it correctly. However, I saw a video tonight which seems to show the footprint no longer has the same clips and red toggle. Have a look at Rambling_Red who has reviewed this tent and shows a way to still be able to attach the footprint and so pitch it all together. Hope this helps.

@@2wheeledoap993 I was so impressed with the vern 2 (for me and the Mrs) I bought a vern 1 + footprint for my solo excursions, it should be arriving today, so I'll see if I can figure out if it can be attached as previously suggested and if it can I'll post how to do it here. Hope this helps 🤞🏻

Whats the difference between this and the PC version? As the website says the PC comes in at 3.5 kg.
@ValleyandPeak2 ай бұрын
The PC version is made out of a mixture of Polycotton and cotton resulting in a much heavier fabric than the ripstop silnylon 30D version seen in this video.
@tonyhall395Ай бұрын
I have the Pc vern, it’s absolutely brilliant, heavy ish but worth it just for the sleep quality, very quiet in windy conditions, let’s in the natural light in the mornings, and is just solidly built. I sold my Unna to purchase the Pc and have no regrets, it’s very easy to pitch in windy conditions and I love it 😎😎

Don’t you have to seal this tent yourself? Could be wrong 🤷 If so i’ve never understood Tents being sold not already sealed 🤦
@ValleyandPeak2 ай бұрын
Nortent’s fabric seams naturally provide a high level of waterproofing. The seams are sewn using a special expandable thread and a uniquely cooled needle, which helps minimise pinholes caused by the needle, resulting in seams that are inherently. I personally haven't seam sealed this Vern 1, and it's been absolutely fine.
