The North Face presents: Western Faces

Australian mountaineer Tim Macartney-Snape, freeskier Anna Segal and Freeride World Tour rookie Michaela Davis-Meehan, are set to explore some of the steepest faces in their backyard. With New Zealand freeskiers Fraser McDougall and Hank Bilous along for the ride, they’re slogging deep into the backcountry to find freeride terrain that will have their Kiwi-counterparts do a double-take.

My mates Paul Fitzgerald, Phil Jenkins , Bon Gray and others were out there in late 80's early 90's doing that, you may only get 6 runs in the day, but was way better than at the resorts. Never got to Watsons Crag, we were building up to it and then the responsibilities of life took over and we never made it. Its great that Michaela got there as ive met her many times as a young girl in Newcastle, as i knew her parents well. Excellent video, gets my juices going, watching this, but age is a barrier, although hasnt stopped Paul, who tonight is camped out in a snow cave somewhere nearby, by himself at age and living the dream. At least he has mobile phone and epirbs for safety these days, our days was a compass, map and common sense. Better get out and exercise to start living the white dream again.
