Had a tour there as a school kid on a field trip, loved them ever since. Hate to see them fall into disrepair.

Part of history, should be preserved. I need to attend some kind of event so I can see what it’s like to be inside one of these beauties

@@kuuphotos It's pretty cool. I have photos of our trips. Should try to find them. I do remember a lecture on the fact they have their own weather systems inside. That's how large they are. I really think they should be preserved the roof's properly repaired. There is so so much that can be done with them. Imagine all he festivals, conferences, concerts, and even artist studios. Amazing spaces.

@@harrisfogel6992 Yeah, a concert in there would be amazing. Roller derby or even ice skate rink LOL. They do have a wine festival and a 5K/half marathon run once a year. I will sign up next time just so I can walk around hahaha

I don't know how many thousands of times I have seen those structures those hangers I'm 72 now and I never knew they are wooden structures. As a lifetime carpenter that's amazing to me.

Yeah amazing indeed. Hope they don’t tear down Hanger One just because the roof is damaged

And now someone lights it on fire at 1:30 am ,and its all burned down...so sad!
@kuuphotos Жыл бұрын
Very very sad. They better set up extra security for the other hangar.

I just learned seven of these wooden hangars still exist: Moffett Field (2), Tustin, California (2), Tillamook, Oregon (1), Lakehurst, New Jersey (2). Moffett Field has a museum there, so they might allow public access to some of the hangars there.

Sadly now only 6 as the North hangar you filmed sadly Burned down on the 7th /8th of NOV 2023 kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmScgWSjnbuIbNksi=jgj5bULGvdx6AiMv So sad to see a part of history and one of only a handfull of these hangars left get destroyed by fire!
@kuuphotos Жыл бұрын
This is suspicious. Developers had been eyeing this property.

@@kuuphotos thats what i was thinking given the development all around both hangars (im from the uk) and the North hangar wasnt used for events ect as you stated in your vid only the south hangar thie fire also started around or was reported around 1am acording to the news reports! BUT we can't realy say it was done purpously as the NORTH hangar was left to rot with no propper repairs after the storm damage apart from the two towers the navy put up to support that part of the roof ..also my understanding (i may be wrong) is the Navy still own and control the north hangar? you would prob know more than me about it all 😉 ...BUT we have the same problem in the UK ....historic structure / building that is listed ect left to rot with no maintenence then it suddenly burns down with no explanation! 😉 NOT being a cynical person ect BUT it happens sadly ....and no one is ever held accountable ..usualy the cause isnt found ect ..more room now its gone for houses and apartments ect

Yes! I think it is this one that caught fire. The other one was in good shape, hopefully it is the one that was not impacted.
