I'm from BC and this was a HUGE case, it's hard to understate the extent to which the entire country was following this manhunt day by day. One aspect that doesn't fully come across in the video though is just how isolated all these northern locations are. We're talking about communities where there's literally just one road in and out of town and the next settlement is hours away. On some of these northern roads you can go hours without seeing another car. So during the manhunt there was a real sense of fear because if you ran into them, there would be nowhere to run and no one to help. That's also what makes the Highway of Tears so unnerving too.

I'm in New Zealand and even all the way down here, the case was massive. First there was hope for the boys to be found somehow safe and unharmed, then the uncertainty, then the sickening realisation they weren't missing, but on a rampage of sorts. We all felt so much for the families affected, and even the boy's father; he was in so much pain as well. Horrible, horrible situation all around.

The RCMP and the First Nations have a very frigid relationship at best, and Billie being the focus of the public's attention really irritates the Mounties. I’m from Gillam. We were returning home from our vacation.Our phone blew up with texts not to stop on the road home to pick up or help anyone. It’s 3 hrs from Thompson on a gravel road. When we arrived to the turn off to Gillam, we were met with officers in tactical gear. Our truck was visually searched. For the next few days our lives were turned upside down. Gillam was basically shut down. Everyone stayed in their houses. Very unusual for this outdoorsy community. Billy is a hero!

I feel like her statement is... very much wrong though. I get that she doesn't want the families of the murderers to feel guilty of their deeds, but at the same time it's not like it was solely their conscious decision that lead to these events. Asking why they did it is important to prevent things like this happening again. It's not an insolated case either, young, white, right wing men going on killing sprees happens too often for us to pretent there isn't a pattern.

One major difference..... The Canadian RCMP is completely useless. 2 kids outwitted the cops and military for thousands of miles across Canada. This has happened many, many times in Canadian history.... massive manhunts that cannot bring in the criminals. Read and research the whole debacle of Gabriel Wortman. A RCMP agent who went on 2 massacres across Nova Scotia in April 2020. He was dressed as as RCMP Officer and driving A RCMP cruiser while committing 23 murders in 13 hours!!! Canada has not and will not ever know the whole true story because the RCMP and FEDERAL Government have covered up the whole incident.

I thought of that also cause when a witness spotted a bearded man arguing with Lucas and Chynna I thought it was Leonard since he did have a beard and then after hearing Leonard was the 3rd victim I was like "wait so he didn't do this" then after hearing it was Kam and Bryer it made perfect sense since they had weapons that murdered those 3 and the fact they took Leonard's vehicle after the murder and Kam kind of had facial hair but not a beard I don't know if it was him arguing with Lucas and Chynna or if it was someone else that had a beard but wasn't an interest

They wouldn't have solved this case without Billy. By police not offering Billy the safety gear they were wearing themselves on that boat tells me that the police had a lot more faith and confidence in Billy than they had in themselves. Because of Billy's knowledge and expertise, the families affected by this case were able to learn the truth about what happened to their loved ones.

From my observations..... modern Natives are the most out of touch with nature these days.I live right by the Morley reserve in southern Alberta and I see this shit all the time. Drive through any reserve in Canada and all you see is poverty, crime, rampant drug abuse and physical abuse. No natives are out enjoying nature, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, hunting or fishing. They are all locked up in their homes drinking and abusing drugs while watching TV. First Nations were in touch with the wilderness and nature 150 - 200 years ago. Give me a break.

This was so 😢 I'm from Tataskweyak Cree Nation, aka Split Lake..it's mind boggling how these two managed to end up by my community, for anyone not knowing the bushes, they wouldn't last long..they soon found out..my prayers for the families that lost their loved ones..saddens me for those that got murdered and the killers family's that had to deal with their senseless killing..

Excellent coverage and narration of this tragic event … I am BC born and raised and you did a nice job in your description of this beautiful province and all it has to offer … And an even better explanation of how this young couple met and fell in love … and the whole tragic way the events came together to capture these 2 disturbed self serving boys … My heart breaks that these 3 souls were taken so violently in such a beautiful place Just 3 innocent lives wanting to explore Gods creation that so many of us take for granted … My heartfelt condolences go out to family and friends of all the victims … Australians love it here in BC .. Many of them come here in the winter to work at the ski hills … They are beautiful people … such a sad story for all involved …

Thanks to Billy, this had a good ending. If he didn't do what he did, the search would be endless. He deserves every single award and praise he got from everyone. He is a hero! Thank you, Billy! You are a good man. The three murdered people were really awesome people. They all had so much in common. They were kind and loved nature. Just good people. It is striking how much they are alike. I hope they rest in peace. I hope their family and loved ones will find peace. As for the wife of Leonard: You are so sweet and caring. Through all your pain, you still think of others. The families of the murderers really are not to blame. I respect the father to openly talk about it. He made himself so vulnerable and put himself in harms way. People are nasty sometimes and can attack the parents, family and/or friends of these two kids. I've seen it so often. But they are victims too. These kids made up their own mind and did what they did on their own accord. They made so many more victims than they realize. And I'm glad they never realized it. Kids of that age, with that state of mind, cannot comprehend what the effect is of their actions. They don't understand that it doesn't only hurt the victims, but also the victims friends, family and even people they don't know. And they don't realize that their own family and friends hurt. Not because they died, but because of what they did. And the dad being so open, showing people what it does to the parent of a murderer, is only to be applauded. It is good for people to see how deeply someone can hurt and how bad they suffer from the actions of their kid. I hope people learn from his grieve and think twice before attacking parents and putting the blame on them, without knowing the whole story. I hope all the victims find peace soon.

How contrasting, it is sad to see the young die because they have so much to live for, and yet seeing the old die this way is so sad as well as he shouldn't have died this way. Truly tragic. I hope their families will find comfort and peace in some way. Good job Billy, you have brought this to an incredible end and giving the community the peace of mind they need.

It always causes me to double take when things from my home are covered on podcasts or youtube channels! It's quite an intense story and that of a serial killer so I'm not sure that you two would be keen to cover it but the Willy Pickton case is extremely disturbing, and kinda feels like it happened in my backyard because of my proximity to it, plus watching the case unfold live on TV as a kid. Regardless, I'm excited for this upcoming video!

I live in BC too, this was a crazy event. Stuff like this doesn't happen too often here, but when it does it's usually something insane. Willie Pickton was the craziest things but Clifford Olsen too back in the 80s. He killed a girl from Maple Ridge BC, where we lived ( I was a baby) whom my mother had babysat years prior. That was definitely in our backyard. Looking forward to Truly Criminals coverage on this case though. I can't believe it was 4 years ago already!

Thank you for covering this and other cases in a respectful, caring, and extensive manner. I truly appreciate that you go directly into the cases, not drawing any attention for yourself. Some creators must be seen and, in some cases, even begin these tragedies with gimmics, humor, or lengthy advertisements. It smacks of their need for attention and borders on disrespect. It feels as if they are covering these sad losses of life for personal gain. You keep the focus on the victims and share the information with the utmost respect. This one, especially, makes my heart hurt just a little more than others because it feels so much more “personal” I guess? Chynna and her family are from our neck of the woods (Charlotte, North Carolina, USA) and a few of my clients (I’m an esthetician) personally know her mom Sheila. From what I’ve garnered, when this tragedy comes up, she’s a true Southern belle and one of the sweetest women you’ll ever meet, she went through this horrific senselessness with such grace and the things she’s done in the name of her daughter (like doing a 5K) would make her so proud if she were still around. Chynna used to also work as a server at one of my husband’s favorite brunch spots, so she could have served us at one point, I don’t remember, I don’t ever want to automatically think or say yes and it not be true. For some reason, that would feel a little dirty, I don’t know, I’m weird. Their love story was so beautiful yet tragic. It makes me feel a little less sad to know at least they got to meet and love one another for a time before their deaths. I hope their families get some kind of closure or answer, even a tiny clue as to why these terrible maniacs did what they did to those innocent amazing people.

I love your content. I assumed I knew most of the detail of this case but learned heaps more from your video. Well done, occasionally you find some content that seems to totally distract you for 40 minutes or whatever its length, some people would just call it very watchable or thoroughly enjoyable. I find this rare quality in all your videos, they seem very professional & honest I think. Sorry as I find it hard to express what I mean here but I'm sure you get it that I love your content & in awe of your channel & your storytelling skills. So a big thankyou for all the times you have entertained me. Just one thing - do you think that(or know if) Brian Schmegelsky's dad was shown their 6 final videos that the RCMP had. I assumed he would have as their copycat reason in their decision not to release them surely would not have applied to him.

I am still fighting to see the five videos. I fought to see one which I watched in bc Rcmp headquarters. There are many issues that happened in port Alberni that authorities refused to investigate. Bryer was abducted by his mother when he was 4 years old. He died July 28, 2019 as pre the revised autopsy report.
