Ms. Wallace said in an interview that despite the lyrics of this song, they really weren't that poor. Basically lower-middle/middle class. That may have been a fact but, in my opinion, it doesn't detract from the truth or beauty of this song/rap/poem.

I miss Tupac and Biggie. I suppose we can only imagine where their lives would have led them if they hadn't been murdered. I do know that Tupac was a great actor and impressed Gene Siskel. I also loved the episode of Martin which featured Biggie. I think if they were alive they'd be doing a lot of movies, much like Ice Cube and even Snoop Dogg to an extent.
