Just in case you're interested in watching Season 4 with us, we had to move it off YT because their new producers or whoever owns the copyright for Season 4 doesn't allow longer format reviews and they got 100% blocked as soon as we'd upload them! Same happened with Black Dynamite, Drawn Together, Martin etc! But click below for our library of content that we have so far. We're always uploading as much as possible. Did you know there was supposed to be a reboot and the guy that played Uncle Ruckus said he there was8 episodes that he recorded for but the company that was paying for the show to be made so it was taking too long and it was too expensive so they just decided to shelf it plus the guy who plays Granddad is dead but his son does his voice very well

Did you know that it was supposed to be a spoof of The Color Purple? The original. Thats where most of the comedy comes from. This is really one of the funniset episodes but back then it was assummed that everyone had seen it. won a million academy awards. If you all havent seen it its understandable that it comes off as a sad episode.

If anything. Despite the fact that Ruckus' Dad was a Horrible and abusive father towards his children and ESPECIALLY Ruckus. It also showed how much of an Enabler that the Mom was towards the sons. She lied to Ruckus and led him to believe that he was adopted and was actually white for all of these years to go against the hardships of what his father was doing to them. It's easy to attack his dad for shaping Ruckus into the way he is but his Mother was no better than the Father

To answer your question on why Ruckus’ mom is enamored with white people is as simple as slavery. Given the extent of slavery; how generations were born within a racist climate that stripped many black people of cultural and social identity, only to miseducate through force, lots of slaves were born to praise the concept of Whiteness - which was concept coined by pseudoscientists to classify people by race to make African people and any other non white person as inferior to white people. Generations of psychological tampering to an oppressed people created Ruckus’ mom. Edit: glad that Ash is okay. Love you guys content

After hundreds of years of hatred and vitriol directed towards the black community by white people, they essentially indoctrinated black people into hating ourselves! Sadly black people internalized that anti black sentiment which developed into self hatred, colorism, and an inferiority complex! Even worst that mentality has been pervasive throughout the black community and passed down from generation to generation! This mindset has manifested itself in a variety of negative ways such as black on black crime, crab in a bucket mentality, and the black men and women gender war to name a few!

Idk if y’all really noticed, but yes ruckus father was very abusive to him and also his mother making him even more delusional by making him believe he’s a white person. From her dying her hair blonde, wanting blue eyes( having them when she’s older probably contacts), and just her overall personality influences ruckus’s personality. I know if you can recall the episode of season 2 when ruckus gets a show on BET when he gets his ancestry test results he’s “102% African with a 2% margin of error” the man wanted to kill himself after learning even though his life didn’t change at all until he thought he had to live by those stereotypes (quitting all his damn jobs, wearing oversized baggy t shirts, finally buying a new pair of shoes and they gotta be sneakers, etc). Reggie was the BET exec that treated the doctor to actually falsify test results and acting as though the original test results ruckus received were bad and he end up getting a fake test results from the doctor personally saying he’s 50% white. It all steams from self hatred in his mom that she actually taught all of her kids including ruckus. Ruckus also contradicts himself throughout the entire show by not knowing himself, but thinking he does.

@stmn5430 ofcourse he learned it from his daddy, who learned it from his mama, who learned it from her parents and white people! Basically black people was indoctrinated to hate ourselves by the larger white society. Our ancestors internalized that racism and vitriol directed towards us which overtime manifested into self hatred that was passed down from generation to generation! We're basically saying the same thing.

@@atmn5430 his mother taught him to like white people. His father, and others, were "proof" that black people were low class, violent, and inferior to white people, whom he would see as more refined and civilized, as his mother did. I knew a young man like this. His mother was white, his father was black and had run out on them, and so he saw black people as bad people. White people who say slavery ended a long time ago, and ask why people today should still suffer any damage from it, are ignorant and should watch this episode to try to understand generational damage. Ruckus is damaged by his father, his father is damaged by his mother and by racism in his youth, his mother prefers white culture, and surely the grandmother is damaged the same way by people in her life. The people who think this episode is funny are damaged as well. They may not see how their own culture has harmed them, and may even embrace being "strong" and aggressive and vulgar and crude and "hard", instead of wanting a more peaceful way of life. I still see some parents in my area, cussing and calling their kids n****r and telling them to "get your black ass over here" and things like that, and I just shake my head. This is NOT ok. This is not good parenting. This is raising a whole new generation of damaged people.

9:20 "I hope this isn't the tone for the whole show, this is sad" Listen fellas this 100% happens in our homes, at least at mine. That "Did i just catch you trying to be shit" followed by the slap is so funny because i can related and im sure at least 5 black kids out of 10 back when i was 7-10 years old experienced that ( i am 30 this year). I personally went through it. When i was 8 i was dreaming to be an artist, cartoon artist and animator, so drawing was literally all i ever wanted to do, didnt care much about school. My uncle who raised me after my died passed away, who funny enough is one hella talented drawing artist, despised that i was spending so much time drawing and trying to get better at it. One night while i was at my grand ma, I had finally managed to draw a whole character by myself, without copying others. I was so proud of it, showed it to everybody, I was telling people how im gonna start my own Manga from that one character, just a kid with dream, who believed in himself. When i showed it to my uncle, he got in such a rage, took his belt off whooped the crap out of me. "I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU DRAW AGAIN, I only want to see you study". Those were his words VERBATIM. I could never forget them. Slapped the taste of drawing out of my mouth, never picked up the pencil again until i turned 16 at least i was a rebel now, what could he do to stop me. I could still draw well But the dream to be an cartoon animator was completely gone, and i Went to pursue a career in Software design instead. I Was mad at him for so long about that, come to find out in 2015 when i went back to Africa to visit, i told him about that, and he said my grand father use to beat the shit out of him aswell for the same reason: Drawing, so he went to do a Civil Engineering Degree to become an architect like we always wanted to prove that his dad was wrong. Unfortunately he never had a career in it, so when he saw me drawing and tell everyone about my dream to be an animator, he didn't want me to chose a path that would lead no where like he did, so he felt he had to stop it early. Thats what he said to me. Crazy right? Back then black parents from poor families didn't know how to encourage kids to follow their passion unfortunately. There was no such thing. Especially if your passion was not guaranteed to bring some sort of substantial income. Today is much different. So yh being beat up because you have a passion for something that your black parent doesn't agree with ... was for real growing up., Ask any African adults today who dreamt to be a soccer player as a kid for example, a very small percentage actually got support. That's why even though its sad, its funny the way its portrayed in this anime, because it is true

That's why her hair is dyed blonde, and she wears blue contacts. She's been taught to subconsciously hate herself, as many black people do. Except, in this show, it's more conscious than subconscious. It's interesting that you guys are so puzzled over this, because you're white; that's something you wouldn't get unless someone else explains it to you. The first time i watched this episode, i was in tears from laughing. Then the next day, i was in tears from crying as the message of this episode sunk in. Ultimately, due to systematic racism, ruckus's family was plagued with a generational curse of pain, rage, and self-hate... The boondocks' rendition of this unfortunate woe that many individuals from the black community suffer from is a super duper animated and extreme version of this

Four things I want to say here. 1. I'm glad that Ashley is doing better after her accident. 2. Mister Ruckus was played by Don Curry who played Uncle Elroy from the Friday movies, Willie's (John Witherspoon) brother. 3. Any sympathy you may have felt for Ruckus in this episode will get thrown out the window in season 4, especially in the episode Freedomland. 4. Great video and keep up the good work 👏.

First off! I'm glad Ashley is OK! This episode is another classic! As you can see from the amount viewers and comments, this episode not only hits hard but gets funnier every time you watch it. The theme is basically explaining the passing down of *trauma* and *abuse*. Black people's trauma comes from a social structure where they are not loved and are susceptible to abuse. Therefore, being white or being close to white meant your life would be better. This episode brilliantly depicts this by parodying 2 very emotional films: *The Colour Purple and Precious*. Uncle Ruckus is the character "Precious" in this episode, and his life mirrors Whoopi's character's life in The Colour Purple, especially when he is thrown out of the house. The two monologues to re-listen to are his brother's witnessing their father's abuse and coping with the trauma, and then Ruckus, expressing his understanding at the end of the show. Basically, you realize people are human and make mistakes. A great take on this subject matter is the show Bojack Horseman in season 4! If you have not watched that series on NETFLIX, I recommend you do. It is fantastically written! It's funny and very emotional! Plus, a LOT of celebrities lend their voices to that show. When you watch it, you will see why. Hahahaha. Have a great week.
