And then, I saw another Miniso copycat in my Province... and it's called Usupso. They have the same logo as Miniso, their product offerings were quite the same as Miniso but under their brand. However, it's not so well known to many, I think. So, basically, I only see that as a Bootleg Version of Miniso with also Bootleg Items that is trying hard to be as Miniso.

Different. Daiso is a real Japanese company. I buy from them alot and I see alot of things are made in Japan. While Miniso is a Chinese company pretending Japanese. The co-creator/ designer Miyaki Junya is just an actor. The Japanese translation in Miniso logo also I think is translated wrongly lol

I think the overall perception of Chinese brands might be changing. Think of huawei and especially DJI. It is the only teusted brand when it comes to consumer drones. But many other Chinese tech products will become synonymous with quality - particularly their EVs like BYD, Neo, Xpeng and others. I remember my dad telling me that in the 50s and 60s, Japanese brands were considered inferior in the West. China is at the same stage now. I think it's also incorrect to say that miniso simply consolidates products from factories and sells them. They would have significant input into the design and types of products they want. It's actually a great model and they sell things that ppl want. Using Japanese branding is not a quality mask, I think it's more about appealing to pop culture. In any case, I'm a big fan of their shops. On the broader point of Chinese branding, I actually think we're now on the cusp of a new era where Chinese tech products will be viewed as cutting edge, as they already have achieved in drones.
