"Jose, I feel is in that pattern of deterioration. Now it is about maintenance. Now its about showing up at the gym and getting rounds on rounds, and then throughout wars in the gym, wars in the octagon, your body deteriorates. Its not about growth anymore, its about maintenance." Conor is spot on here and is describing his current spot, he is past his prime and no longer has that youth or hunger that got him there.
@ziggybender9125 Жыл бұрын
Oddly enough Conor and Jose are cordial now and do communicate sometimes. Jose has some of the best highlight reel kicks to ever grace MMA until he stopped throwing them and focused on other areas, Conor recently seems to be practicing his kicks a lot almost like he knows exactly how good Jose was when he still threw kicks but didn't have to fight that version and is still trying to become a better version of himself. Poor guy found out what Jose seemed to already know, your legs will eventually break if you keep kicking hard.
@Antipodean332 жыл бұрын
I'll never forget the dejection, the absolute 100% shattered look on Jose's face when he was sitting on the floor, in his change room after Connor knocked him out in a matter of seconds. That was something no one on the planet expected to happen, not even Connor would've thought it would happen that way. I also liked Connors attitude and the way he carried himself after that win towards Jose, it showed the true Connor, genuinely humble in defeat and victory. Not many people around like that

Arguably Conor did see it going that way, given the visualisation beforehand, him spotting the tells at various points leading up to the fight, agitating and goading Aldo for months in advance. You could argue that was his plan the whole time.

It's so interesting watching this documentary today, and literally watching the progression, and the mindset behind it all, and it really illuminates his career and makes so much sense. We see the young guy with an insane sense of determination, confidence, charisma, and intuition, and it's so clear why he achieved the level of success that he did, but at the same time, you can start to see the shift from where that confidence and determination became arrogance and entitlement and it's so obvious why so many negative consequences began occurring inside and outside of the ring

He was such an inspiration and groundbreaking fighter. So calm and confident, precise with his words and movement and had a burning passion for the fight game. He was brilliant at getting into his opponents head, but also carried a certain humbleness and there was always a deep level of respect for his fellow opponents. It's very unfortunate how money, fame and power corrupted his soul. I often wonder if this version of Conor, 2013-2016ish was still around, how different the fight game would look.

The family were struggling with bills, Connor was on and off with MMA and admitted to hanging around with dodgy people, when your son is refusing to work to help the family and instead is out partying and getting in occasional cage fights it’s 100% understandable why his dad was angry. Sadly in 99% of cases his dad would’ve been right, luckily connor made his dream come true and became mega rich,
