I can pedal 35 on a flat with my track bike, but I'm lucky if I can sustain that for less than two minutes. That's the power of these kits- you can ride at pro level, nay car level speeds for an hour straight

I could understand a Olympic cyclist or someone who goes for the hard races like Tour De France saying that, I highly doubt a normal person would readily be able to go at the too speed that these motors are capable of for more than a minute or two at a time. I had a race bike that I was just under 27 miles per hour and that was going down hill going as hard as I could.
@trfpvVT3 жыл бұрын
im guessing this guy was expecting far more power out of his 50cc motor while having it on a 25lb steel frame bike and an untuned carb. in that case you really can pedal faster (at least in acceleration) but in that case you can still hit 35 after 25s or so

Good information for the new builders. Wish I had known about the choke nut when I had my first problem. That nut has a pinch point on the outside. That can open up when you pull from the inside nut.

16:29 I had this happen from time to time on my first couple builds. I remember is happening most often when A: you haven't used it in a little while. B: after running out of gas while riding. C: forgetting to turn your fuel valve on, and then needing the bowl to refill. Overall I'd chalk it up to surface tension between the bottom of the bowl and the bottom of the float, but after hearing a few of your guesses I'd say it's more likely just poorly machined parts, what you referenced as the "flap" catching somewhere and the float not having the buoyancy to push past the 'catching'.. thanks for the videos btw. They are very informative and very practical.
@Centar19644 жыл бұрын
The NT carb is based on a very old design and the priming button is actually a "tickler" as they called it back in the day and it's purpose is to flood the carb, over flowing into the engine to prime it (akin to pouring gas down the carb) and for it to work properly the intake manifold needs to be slightly tilted towards to engine or the gas just pours out the air filter. Useful on very cold days...

@josecuevas86023 жыл бұрын
The rod that pushes down on the float is called a tickler, it's a mechanical override for the float, used for clold start. In other words a primer, you push on it and at the moment fuel starts coming out of tickler you release it. If fuel is coming out of the tickler without depressing, than your float is set to high.

Cool video i bought a new NT speed carb one time and the float sank as soon as the bowl filled up...it's still full of gas it won't come out and i can't find a hole or crack...it has to have sealed itself because it's full of gas and there's no wet spots where a crack or hole would be even left in the sun to raise the internal pressure

Good advice. Hover what happened to me was the metering valve go stuck open causing fuel to come out air filter now what I found was the float fork got a little bent and where the roll pin goes into case was very sloppy the pin should fit fork snug the fork has to be level along with the space where metering valve hangs on back of fork Soo you have to inspect parts and make sure or valve will open get stuck and gas won't stop pouring out filter

Hey man I just got an 80cc today was riding it and ran damn good however I started messing around with the airbox and removed the filter then it ran fine for a little bit then it wouldnt idle down at all and was running away with me on it only got it to stop with both brake levers and clutch in with pressing on the kill switch then I went to add the filter again and adjusted the throttle cable a bit for it to never run again idk what I did to it getting a new spark plug and hopefully it turns over again also disconnect kill switch because I thought it might be accidentally tripping.

We have talked before did you try the expansion chamber formula in my opinion the nt carb is the most simple and easily tunable carb there is I have found only one shortcoming. The donut float where I live in colo I challenge some very steep grades my tuning test. Is a place called skyline drive a steep rocky hog back with a paved road over the top the only problem is the first part is about a quarter mile 11 percent grade and steeper with no starting run it took me months to eliminate the issue due to the location of the fuel inlet and the donut float when you hit this steep grade the float sticks and it floods and as you know without gears there is no coming back and I would have, to turn around the solution making a manifold with a 90 degree bend to the, side and no more problems ,! Once agian I'll mention tuning the length of your lead in pipe before the expansion chamber 8 to 11 times in length as the diameter of your exhaust port at 32 to 1 oil mix and tuning your exhaust you shouldn't have any blow back thru the carb certainly not to the extent of oiling your air breather huge gains in low and mid power!

I have an hp carburetor because my nt does not seal, the hp will idle high and the idle screw does move the slide up and down but when I try to move the idle screw to the lower idle area the engine does not do almost anything. It is not an air leak because most of the time when I rev the rpm goes down very quickly. What could be causing the problem? There is a fuel filter in the carburetor and one in the main fuel line. could the one in the carb be restricting fuel in the carb and giving it more air causing a higher idle? How can fix this problem and get my bike running well.
@LAHover4 жыл бұрын
Sorry I'm only familiar with the NT carb. I don't think the HP has a filter in it.
@WhiskersTheFish4 жыл бұрын
LA Hover I am getting rid of the hp carb anyway, I heard that the stock speed nt are better. My nt has an air leak where the carb connects to the intake manifold. How would I seal this? I heard an o ring in the carb throat can seal it. My manifold is rusted from the manufacture and the welds are bad. Should I get a new manifold?

If you do a light oil soaking the cork gaskets always last longer assuming it's real cork, rubber is prone to the fuel eating away at it and dry rot, cork will never dry rot if oil soaked properly

colder plug (ngk b7hs, or b8hs) And larger head for better cooling. Run a smaller sprocket (faster + lower RPMs = cooler motor), when going down hill pull in the clutch, idle down, and blip the throttle a few times. Lastly when you come to a stop for more than a few seconds, kill the motor... They do not like to idle.
