The nutritionalist who did the research for the food pyramid refused to have her name on it after the senator in charge let his Adventist cult food industry buddies change it to the monstrosity that came out. She warned them if they put it out and people followed it that there would be a massive increase in obesity, diabetics, heart attacks, strokes, depression, dementia, autoimmune disease, cancer, etc. Add Poly Ovarian Syndrom, PMS, autism, ADHD, low testosterone, messed up thyroid and likely much more to the list. But instead of admitting their mistake they did the vegan gaslighting thing of blaming the victims of their bad advice and pointing out the few that could stay slim, if not healthy on their death diet.

It is just crazy that Doctors do not get nutrition training in Medical schools. Every doctor visit should include some nutrition discussion. The majority of the population is over weight or obese leading to high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer. Schools and hospital cafeterias should be leading the way to good health by setting the example of what is a healthy meal and teaching people what to eat and why.. Every person in the hospital for heart disease should have a nutrition class before being checked out from the hospital with follow up education and training in nutrition. Medicare and Medicaid should require patient nutrition education as part of their standard of care. Nutrition information should be run on the hospital TV channel.

To me a balanced diet would leave out anti nutrients. No grains, no fruits, no veggies, no fiber. 100% plant free. But that will heal so much and save so many lives, without the need of drugs. Hospitals, doctors offices and schools should be places where good nutrition is taught and provided not places that contribute to disease and obesity. It is crazy the hospitals are feeding people the very food that caused the heart disease, high blood pressure or cancer that they are treating. Every person in the hospital should receive some nutrition education before being released. Every doctor visit should be an opportunity to educate patients about how food choices impacts their health outcomes. The fact that doctors do not get nutrition training as part of their training makes no sense. Medicare and Medicaid should require nutrition education as part of patient care. The problem is that if they did get education in nutrition, it would all be wrong. We know what dietitians recommend and it's the food pyramid - mostly plant-based with "heart-healthy" grains. In other words, the education they get would be worse than useless. They would not be told to avoid seed oils at all costs, avoid grains and keep carbs to a minimum, and to eat loads of fatty meat.

It's not just one or two things, it is your lifestyle. Most importantly do you give your brain cells any stimulation - cognitive stimulation, problem solving and proper nutrition. At 75, every morning, without fail, I would solve three different puzzle games, one of which is advanced level Sudoku, before breakfast. You are your own best doctor and advice from a third party may not apply to you at all. You need to think through what works for you as it is impractical to follow another person's lifestyle. Listen to your body, everthing in moderation. If you do not have some simple philosphy to guide yourself, then your life journey will be a rough one and no amount of advice from other people is going to change your destiny. Have a goal - a simple one sentence goal. "I want to continue to be able to solve the Rubiks cube within 3min when I am 80." I will revise that in 2028.
@nonyobisniss792811 ай бұрын
I'm not convinced that brain training really helps with general memory formation and retention. Trying to retain an ability like solving a particular type of puzzle by training it will be beneficial to that one purpose, but likely has no effect or possibly is to the detriment of other areas of the brain we would wish to conserve. I don't know what you mean by advanced level sudoku, but if you mean standard sudoku rules then you're basically doing the exact same thing over and over again and it is likely to the detriment of your abilities outside of that narrow focus. Having said that I could see periodic testing using puzzles being a useful monitoring device, for alerting when you begin to lose function.

Why not measure the Fasting insulin levels along with Fasting glucose can give you an indication of Insulin Resistance. Use the Online HOMA-IR calculator to estimate your Insulin Resistance. Ideally it is 1.0. Less than 2.0, with HbA1c of 5% is good. Not everyone will react to glucose the same way, but Omega 6 fats can independently be the cause of Insulin Resistance. Bad fats are worse than sugar. So avoid both.
