I agree. It felt like a series of jump scares. Keep the audience guessing if the nun is around or not. I love the nun character, but she needs to be kept in the shadows as much as possible
@arcer4524 Жыл бұрын
I mean, we've already seen her in two movies, know a lot about the nun, so I don't really see the need to keep her in the shadows anymore. Might as well make the movie more dynamic with things happening all the time. I kind of liked this approach.
@MananAhuja Жыл бұрын
That's what made it a big deal. Hidden in the dark, is it really there or are you tripping. The anticipation was gone. By the end, we got so familiar with the face that it wasn't a big deal anymore. And what do they do then, show her mouth which was full of blood 😂 I mean dude, her face as Lucy in the vision was creepier than these cheap tricks.
@thahardman Жыл бұрын
I think it would've been cooler if valak possessed an unknown character to the audience, wreaked a bunch of havoc and the young nun (forgot name), had to use the eyes to find clues as to where valak was. Not Valak's style though

I think no matter what miracle she did in the 1st movie by sending valak back to hell she should have gotten more friends to help her in the journey after all she's fight against a demon who was once an angel that was a no brainer to send her on her own. Secondly the 1st half was drained and was slow compared to the prequel. The prequel was better than this in my opinion
@radgoncan Жыл бұрын
@@jackcreature9475 I second this. I haven't watched the first movie, but it baffled me when the Vatican decided to send a single nun to investigate a string of horrible deaths. Moreso, when the two sisters established the location of the demon, they could have send some help, especially after the archivist told them of the power of the artifact... I also didn't like how the boarding school was set in the middle of the town and "all hell broke lose" but no one outside the school seemed to notice.

And THIS is why Jeremy's particular ranking system WORKS compared to most other ranking systems like 1-10, 5 stars, grades. A C can be seen as some to be average, add in plus or minus that changes things entirely. Same with stars and 1-10. Someone can look at a 1 out of 10 movie and look at a 10 out of 10 movie and go "WELL why did THAT movie get a higher score??" but with his system it's all just according to HIS thoughts on the film. If he walked out of it and forgot it the next day, well T-Minus One Day rating. If it's a good time no alcohol required, it's average but you're gonna have fun with it. Awesometacular needs no explanation while Buy on Blue Ray/Digital Release is "it's good buuuuuuut just not QUITE top tier."

As an adult i never think of horror movies as scary, but a good horror movie can often build this sense of dread.. Exactly. I woke one morning this week with the power completely off in my place. My first thought was, "Crap, I swear I paid that bill!", as I fumble on my phone to find the electric company hours of operations to solve the problem. I discover that the electric company isn't open yet and I get their voicemail. About 10 minutes later the power surges back on, realizing it was just a disconnection and not my fault. Jeremy is right. Adulting is by far more scary and less visually interesting than horror movies. I think some days I'd rather take on the generic horror monster than the average adulting terrors. It was dark and unsettling all the time. But the Nun 2 was a pile of shit. Everything was expected, too many jumpscares, and the end was pathetic. They show the Nun way too much. I think if she stayed hidden in the shadows most of the time she would be more scary, but at this point we’ve seen way too much of her for her to retain that uneasy, creepy feeling. We know all she ever does most of the time is show up, maybe grab someone and show her teeth, and that’s about it lol. It would be better if she was more mysterious. I do get why she is shown so much, though, in terms of them wanting her to be a well-known horror icon, but it definitely doesn’t help in terms of how scary she now is.

Honestly this one surprised me a bit the slow start hurts the overall of the film but there’s a couple key moments where keeps you engaged IMO.

@@jen_jen17official lol whatever there were no slow parts😭 i mean can you really expect the demon to be in every scene🤷🏾♂️

@@WrldWideOp Never said I wanted that, but you have to admit that separating the lead actress from more than half of the movie from the location that stuff was actually happening was a weird choice and hurt the pacing,I still enjoyed the film though just thought it could have been a tad bit better but definitely far from bad.

Me and the Mrs had the most annoying guy sat next to us....the phone..the constantly slurping, snoring.... the first half of the movie was dead. But the second half was pretty good! The magazine park was so dope. The nun was a good character. The secret ending had me hooked too. It wasn't super scary. But the goat scene with the stomping. Good lord that was scary! But like a 6/10 would recommend watching it...just need to watch the first one now! 😂

I tried rewatching the first Nun movie twice to see if I wanted to watch sequel. I tried and failed. I can wait to stream this.

I think a problem with horror movies is that they show the cool stuff in the trailers

It’s funny, you’re the 2nd reviewer I saw today that said they remembered nothing from the first Nun movie.

I never watched the trailer so I had no idea the magazine part was in it! That's so depressing cuz that's easilly the best sequence in the entire movie

So you have the younger sister of Vera Farmiga, who plays in Lorraine Warren in the Conjuring, also starring in the Conjuring universe... They look very much alike, but instead of doing a prequel and having her play a younger Lorraine, she is playing a completely unrelated character? Seems like a wasted casting opporunity.

The cool thing about the magazine scene, which WASNT shown in the trailer, is that Valaks name is spelled out in the frames leading up to it.
