Hey guys whats happening? Niyat here with film comics explained. As requested, today we’ll be exploring The Nun 2, the recently released supernatural horror film directed by Michael Chaves.
Functioning as a sequel to 2018’s The nun, and essentially the eight entry into the Conjuring Universe created by James Wan, the film stars Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, Bonnie Aarons, Anna Popplewell, Storm Reid and Katelyn Rose Downey.
In the enticing sequel to the gothic tale of unimaginable horrors, we're whisked away to a quaint French town in 1956, which is plagued not by the latest fashion trends but a sinister evil. When Reports buzz about a priest and other holy people meeting an untimely (and rather gruesome) end, Enter Sister Irene: who dives headfirst into this ecclesiastical whodunit.
As the pieces start falling into place, who should be the culprit but the malevolent force known as Valak that had already tormented her in the past.
With the demon threatening to destroy her friends and the lives of many that depended on the church, Irene must effectively confront her past with the help of her comrades to defeat one of the most insidious forms of evil out there.
In this video, we’re going to run through the entire Nun timeline, with a breakdown of the first film and its characters, before turning our attention to the sequel.

I loved the scene where the daughter is on the staircase in the dark and the Nun appears on a wall and it holds there for a few seconds before the girl's mother turns on a light from below and the Nun disappears but a face is still present on the wall was very well done. Maybe it could have been that Valak’s plan in the first movie was just to make them think that they had defeated the evil just so it can choose Frenchie behind the scenes. In Annabelle: Creation, Sister Charlotte says that the devil preys on someone weak of faith, and out of Father Burke, Sister Irene and Frenchie, Frenchie was definitely weakest of faith. But that’s just a theory, a film theory indeed :)

What Jagrofes said, I always saw it as the spirits of the deceased nuns there that couldn't rest because of the presence of the demon. Helping Irene because she had the gift to see them, like Lorraine from the main movies. Like how in the first Conjuring movie, the maid ghost informed Lorraine that Bathsheba made them kill their kids. Not as informative, but she wasn't a nun with insights into the inner workings of evil. The violent, faceless nuns. Now those were Valak.

My interpretation of the nuns in the first movie, was they were real ghost, helping Irene, because otherwise, why would valak want to tell all of this valuable info about how to contain it. I kind of hoped that the sisters didn't won at the end, that would have explained how Maurice never got rid of his possession. And how he got to the Warren's, how they couldn't help him, which caused his suicide

Especially now that Valak revealed to two nuns that it posessed someone for years and years after being defeated in the abbey. There's no way the church would ever lose track of Maurice after that. And they'll be on high alert for any following sign of Valak's activities.

Nun and the Conjuring movies have so much potential. They really need to get better storywriters for these movies. Maybe they should import some Asian horror writers to make the next nun and Conjuring movies. Many good Asian horror story writers dont depend on jump scares to make a movie scary and thats what makes them impactful and good.

The second movie has an undercurrent of chavinism as well. We learn Father Burke is promoted to a Bishop while Sister Irene has stories told about how she supposdely went mad from the trauma of what happened. Yet when Valak goes on a rampage again she's the one they turn to, not humbly mind you but they almost demand she "fixes the problem" again, as if Valak is a leaky faucet instead of a friggin' demon.

Did you expect sister Irene to also be promoted to bishop? There was literally no position for sister Irene to be promoted to. Clearly sister Irene went into some sort of hiding ( probably to escape trauma and questions) and that's why non of the nuns knew it was her. Believe it or not, people with very strong faith don't see demons as big entities. But regardless the church is probably the most secretive organisation on the planet so it would make sense that he didn't openly say what the issue was. The pope is basically her boss not just physically but spiritually. When the pope tells you to do something, as a Catholic, you must do it.

My theory is, that either Valak is pestering Lorraine for revenge (as he is a vengeful demon) because of the exorcism they perform to Maurice. Or, Lorraine will be chased by Valak because Irene and Lorraine are paralleled descendants of St. Lucy. Imagine, Lorraine and Irene are sisters in real life, and they have both visions. Why the director will use real-life siblings if this is not connected? Also, Irene's mother is always saying that "you have my eyes".

The nuns in the Abbey weren't hallucinations from Valak, like Sister Oana literally saved her and they gave several infos too... i knew at once when i saw that the entrance to the monastery were pretty much the seal of valak. Graves serve as the crosses, and the head nun sat in the final place basically making the seal. Which means that someone actually built the seal intentionally. Further, that being is about knowledge and "the deal", which means that everything that happened after is part of said deal. Since the whole conjuring series happens because of this, you can say that everything that happened was because of that one deal. So when do you guys think the movie about that happens?

So something to keep in mind is that the more modern view of demons is just that. While they were condemned for their actions, Judai folklore mythology and old testiment expamples still recognized them as creations and servents of god. They were often depicted as earthbound abfels with very specific talents that oculd be leneded to mortal benefit if summoned correctly and invoked through god's name for pure intent. King solomon whom the book is named after was the child of David. He was considered one of the wosest and greatest of kings in biblical lore. He was so knowlagable and in touch with god that he was an expert in invoking demons to do his bidding. The portrayal is that their could go either way depending on the perosn who called them and their intent. If a sinful peroson called in them for selfish or malicious use, they could cause quite a bit of wrath upon that individual and or people nearby. If summoned in humble respect to god for intent that was deamed acxording to gods plan, they were sinply usefil tools. It seems weird now that a book classifiying and detialing demons along with how to summon them would be tied to the bame of Solomon but if yoy take the orgional stories into account it makes perfect sense. He WOULD be the one to know and record this but modern horor wants to stick to depictions of the demons only being a threat to the mortal world once summoned. Again..demons were just fallen or dark angels who had a lot less distiction between them and heavenly angels in a lot of the old mytholigy. A demon could be both a lord of Hell AND a dark angel protector/king of a certian level of heaven at the same time, like Sameal. As the left hand of god he was a dark punisher of humanity gurading the higher levels of heaven but also a Satin (a title meaning king of hell which there were multiples of despite modern association to one devil) judging the mortal souls of sinners to their consequences. It was all aprt of God's ultimate plan so it wasnt quite like today where they are just shown as completly evil being in defiance to all that is good and stand agaisnt the "natural order" in any way possible. This is also in part due to Chrsitianity starting to recognize specific acts as withcraft and a defiance to god. Basically anyone outside of what the church deamed to be appropriate to act for god showing abilties beyond mortal limits was claimed as comparing oneself to God. The more modern concept of demonolgy would be developed at this time during the middle ages and continue over into modern horror. Some older takes get blended in though, especially since it has become popular to bring up mesopotamean/middle eastern cultural orgins to some of these entities in modern media. Even Ghostbusters loves to do this with some of the bigger entities in their series.

@Marshkoon
@Marshkoon 11 ай бұрын
@@ernestpennysworth5145 because they are not supposed to. Demons don’t serve God my friend they do as they please it’s up to us not to fall under corruption. If anything we are already given tools to beat these entities. Why would an entire angel need to come down to fight on our behalf? When we are given means through God to take them on if we are strong in faith. Lorraine literally banished one of the most powerful demons just by knowing its name which she force the demon to tell her lol.

Even the less good moviues in this universe are still better to watch than most other horror movies. Maybe Maurice ids simply explained by the lore from other movies, that having been possessed before makes you far more vulnerable to it happening again. Though it did imply it was valek again, trying to take vengeance on the seers in the family. So he'd have had to escape.

Had to come watch. For one this is my favorite channel to watch about about film and other fiction lore and explanations. And also because I went to watch the movie drunk and ended up knocking tf out, didnt see anything past the part when she gets stuck in one of the rooms at the school I think.

This movie is just like Evil Dead Rise. Starts good, has some genuinely tense sequences (particularly where the daughter was trapped in the chapel after playing the devil eye game), but falls off hard in the final 3rd of the movie. Very sad because The Nun was a great movie.

I liked when Valak said "Meet me at the nunnery, we'll have some funnery." For real though it seems like everyone was trying to make good movies, but they got so hung up on creating a series of spooky visuals that they had trouble connecting them with a compelling story. I'm sure trying to fit everything into the established timeline didn't help.

The depiction of the Nun in the Conjuring 2 was by far one of the scariest character in the horror genre and iconic in it's own right, high up in the ranks with Sadako,Kayako, Reagan's possessor Pazuzu ans so many more....and i think it's quite obvious Frenchie was the person Valak possessed as we the demon entering his mouth near the ending scene in The Nun ..and my Lord,how they butchered Valak's character i cannot take the movie seriously ..

32:20 during the visions of her mother there are like 2 frames of lorraine's eyes that i havent seen anyone mention that are probably elluding that lorraine is also a descendent of st lucy, also that they are both alive at the same time (irene and lorraine) also in the scene after frenchie and the school teacher are talking and her daughter goes up the stairs, she sees the hallway of ed and lorraine's home that floral wallpaper from their house shows up a couple of times in this movie probably going to be part of the connection to the next film

I feel like the Nun was supposed to be a stand alone movie but because they profited off of just showing Valaks nun form on screen and they needed some money for some future conjuring project or sm they made Nun II. The movie literally contributed nothing to the storyline and just made things more confusing with Frenchie's possession. Wonder what they were thinking when they did that.

I saw this when it was first released, and I actually liked the whole dark angel restoration thing as cheesy af it was, and I honestly feel like they should just drop the whole horror element and just start making them into monster flicks, would at least make it slightly less cringy and they could go nuts with all the supernatural angles they took with this one
