The GPU full error is the fault of the 11gb video ram on the 2080ti. For 8k media you need at least 12gb and up, the 4080 has 16gb.

4:35 I belive it is fine to use the jumpers, the plug on the other side can handle 300w which is twice the output of the 150w 8pin PCIe powerplugs. (at least that is how it works with corsair powersuplies)

Very good info!. I sometimes run into 'GPU full' issues, and having a GPU that can finish faster before the 4PM rate hikes in California would actually save money eventually. I'll have to look into that new codex. I've just finally switched to H265 after years of seeing it there and never clicking it until a few months ago, and find my daily videos on my 3D/AI art channel are usually taking hours to process at the 4k level, sometimes I have 14 hours or more runtime. And if it takes longer than expected I can't shut it down and lose the work done so far, so I have to just watch it consume power at the higher rates on into the evening.... ouch. The things we do for art.

Im always terrified mixing PSU cables since there is no standardization for pin-outs. So i could send 12v down a cable that should be 5v or ground. Because each PSU manufacturer does their own thing, rather than talking to their competitors and agreeing on a pin-out. Im surprised that Puget didnt send all of the extra psu cables with the computer. Seems like an oversite on their part. I love puget but i would be frustrated about that
@JayLippman2 жыл бұрын
The idea with Puget is that you send the PC to them if you need repairs or a component swap, so they don’t really need to send additional cables. This was an abnormal situation.
@willcarter70792 жыл бұрын
Oh! that makes sense. I guess, I'd hate to be without my computer for a couple weeks as it goes through shipping. Plus the potential for damage during shipping is very high. Especially for something as quick as swapping a Graphics Processing Card, I'd rather do it myself. but I understand most individuals wouldn't feel comfortable doing any work on their computer. I have friends that ask me to uninstall software because they are afraid to do it themselves. so i get it. I guess I'm just thinking that I would pay a premium to Puget, and I don't receive all the parts and cables and accessories that come with the purchase of the individual components in the computer, that would frustrate me as a nerd. The last EVGA Power Supply unit that I purchased came with 6 PCIE cables for the GPUs. So the fact that you only had 2, makes me feel like you are "scammed" out of 4, that you paid for anyway. Just my random thoughts. like I said, I love puget, they do alot for the PC community. and I understand that sending extra accessories and cables can be confusing and overwhelming for the average consumer. And Puget's customer service is First Class. So I don't dock them. I was just surprised when you showed in the video that you only had 2 PCIE cables when you ought to have 4 or even 6 cables included with the PSU that is pictured in your system.

Dang, my single 2080 super never has gpu memory issues with only 8gb vram, but I do have 128gb cpu ram which shares 70gb with the gpu, so maybe that is helping. I edit 4k30 422 10bit clog3 footage, sometimes 4k60. Fusion tab can be slow, however.

am i the only one who experiences Fusion to be very slow, even with my i9-13900 + RTX4080? I would have expected it to run amazingly fast, but if I have a 4k project with a few particle emitters I am already seeing severaly reduced performance. Rendering, magic mask and all of that stuff is very fast. but fusion, in particular particles, is just unacceptably slow. is fusion not using GPU to its full extent?

Jay 👉will the RTX 4080 fit into the Matrex 70 case when the card is installed in the standard horizontal position? 👉what do you say, will it work correctly on the z390 motherboard for electronic games with power support for the 3rd generation PCI Express card and an installed Corei9 9900K processor and 32 GB of RAM with a frequency of 3000 MH? 👉will an 850 W power supply be suitable?

I am using a g force 3060 now with Davinci. My main issue is when I export even a 1 minute video clip. There's a couple sections where the video actually stops. Do you think upgrading to the 4080 would get rid of this? My playback is all so slow. But then when they export it just doesn't look perfect. I'm shooting in 4k 60 frames a second 10 bit??
@JayLippman Жыл бұрын
The 3060 is still a great GPU. Are you on the free version of Resolve or Studio?
@Heli4213 Жыл бұрын
The free version for now. But according to the requirements my system should be able to handle it easily.@@JayLippman
@JayLippman Жыл бұрын
@Heli4213 the free version doesn’t support hardware rendering so a new GPU won’t make a difference. If you upgrade you could use the 3060 to render and it will go much faster

It's good to know real word results in Resolve, but the 3080 (tbf, the original with less VRAM) was $700, and I think it was similarly priced to the 2080. So, while before we got better performance with similar pricing (good times), now the 80 series jumped $500 to $1200, which is €1500 to €1800 in Europe (I'm checking Portuguese prices). While I won't criticize anyone for getting the best hardware they can afford, if this card sells really well, next generation might be normalized at who knows how much - $1500, probably near € 2000? OTOH, the 4070 Ti seems to be more the equivalent to the old 3080, so maybe people with less money just need to consider the lower performance cards, which will still be better than those of the previous generations... In any case, it would be good for everyone if AMD gets more competitive. And Intel too, but that will take a while, I suppose.
@JayLippman2 жыл бұрын
I honestly don’t think the 4080 makes sense unless you’re doing work that requires you to have that kind of power. I happen to fall into that category and could justify the price because it will help me in my business. If it won’t eventually pay for itself, I don’t think it’s a good idea. That is, unless, you have that kind of money to throw around on a whim lol.
@lcanau2 жыл бұрын
Sure, I agree with that on the current scenario, but that's wasn't my point :) I could do with a better GPU, and as someone who works professionally in compositing and editing animation, the 80 class NVIDIA GPUs would be the ideal choice for me. I built my current PC during the GPU crisis (due to crypto and other factors), and I decided to go for a 3060 Ti, which had an original retail price of $399, I think, but I paid €700 for it (and it was after it came down from higher prices). So, basically, I paid around the price I would pay for a 3080 at MSRP. Once I thought I would eventually upgrade for a 4080, but now the prices are way higher. It's not just the issue if I can' afford it, but if I should contribute to the normalization of these prices. As a reviewer mentioned, NVIDIA saw people paying 'scalper' prices for a couple of years and decided to normalize those prices. It's the market, I guess, if people pay for it, it's the product's price. And if people pay 1200, maybe they'll pay 1500, etc.
