It is always fun to see what train set you pick out to run. I appreciate your enthusiasm that you bring to the videos. Thank you. As a child in the late 1950s my mom and would ride a train from a station near Chicago to a flag stop in north east Kansas. We rode on Santa Fe and Rock Island. Seeing the passenger trains on your layout brings those memories back.

In my opinion, I can't stand it when Lionel has all of those Christmas sound effects. The Polar Express didn't have them, so why do these need to? I'd prefer having normal announcements, a normal bell, and a normal horn.

Great video and review, Chris. Like some other commentors, I also wouldn't call it the train set of the year because of its limited theme appeal, but impressive? No doubt. I would imagine the misspelling of 'Yuletide' will make it appealing to collectors, especially if Lionel corrects the mistake. Thanks for the season passenger train run. Great to see all travelling around your layout at once. And thanks for including Kyle's Holiday 'Bells' jam. Sets a really contemporary tone. Gonna have to agree to disagree on its collectibility. It’s a nice set, but for something that is seasonal that, as you mentioned, doesn’t fit under a tree I don’t see it being collectable. Maybe the passenger cars, but the engine not so much. Great video and review of it. The new F19 will go well with those passenger cars.

For a Christmas set I would rate it as the best so far . I watched Erics BigBoy complete set with all the special effects , but the price of 4200 for the set is only for the few but is a keeper if you can get one. Merry Christmas and thank you for this outstanding video and all the great videos of 2023! This is certainly the train set of the year of any manufacturer without a doubt! I don't see how Lionel can top it. It may be the greatest train set of all time! The long sleek beautiful E8s and passenger cars with the stunning Christmas graphics that look like one big rolling Christmas present with the Christmas sounds and music of the locomotive and dining car announcements, "the dining car is now open for hot chocolate and cookies!" And coming next year is another addon, the F-19 Pacific Sleigh Bell Limited which should be incredible! The only thing is the Christmas road numbers are getting kind of crowded on the old CAB 2. I bought this set and unboxed it today. Won't run any better than my 20th Century Limited on my O-72 layout so I will not be able to run it at home. The sounds of the Feziwig Camelback are the same as the NPC E8 though. The French horn is magnificent, in fact glorious, hinting at the deeper true meaning of Christmas. There is no reason to run any other horn. There is a cute little horn melody among the random sounds of the Tower Com. Do you know that the catalog spelling of Yueltide has now been corrected to Yuletide? Have a Happy New Year!

I have the entire set running under a 12 ft xmas tree...it's coupled with a lemax village of houses with animated characters ..stunning...people have come to visit just see this layout....if this doesn't get you into the holiday spirit...check your pulse 😂...I also ordered the matching steam locomotive engine from the 2023 vol 2 catalog

Merry Christmas RBP! I do believe this train will double in price by next year, especially on the second hand market. It is great that they used diesels, not the first time but out of the norm for sure. Styled after the greatest railroad ever, the NYC, is the cherry on top. I guess all of us in this hobby have some disposable income, but I don't know how big mine would have to be to feel comfortable dropping 4200 bucks on a holiday set that can't be run under the tree. It would only be appropriate on my permanent layout one month a year. Train money could be better spent elsewhere. Still a nice looking set. Thanks for sharing.

I was going to get this big set. But I didn't want it with the E8's. I would have preferred it with the F3's. So that is the only reason I didn't get it. Because I have E8'S . But yeah it's a good set. I may try to get one later.

Steam diesel and electric on the layout is certainly the proper way for a real toy train Christmas in my opinion! I think it is just awesome and completely appropriate that both polar Express sets got to be used alongside this Lionel Christmas themed train set. You know what it kind of makes me think of a sort of a funny idea, we all of heard of the ghost of Christmas past present and future from the Christmas Carol, but how about the toy trains of Christmas past present and future? Obviously, the steam engine polar Express is the train of Christmas past and with the steam locomotive an old passenger cars rather goes without saying as to why. The north pole central diesel set with the streamlined passenger cars is rather appropriate for being the train of Christmas present since it looks more modern than the polar Express steam locomotive, and it really makes you think of some kind of jolly Christmas scene that might happen with family and friends in a contemporary setting. The train of Christmas future would be a lot jollier than the ghost of Christmas future and of course, the Polar Express Acela seems quite fitting for this, since it looks futuristic. Kind of makes you think of the sort of ways that Christmas would be celebrated decades, or centuries into the future or even beyond that. Awesome work Chris and I think this is definitely one of your best seasonal themed videos you have ever made!
