I'm an aspiring agricultural person and I was wondering, if it's too rainy in the oat fields for too many days, would it serve any purpose to use tarps to collect excess water for later use while avoiding needless damages to the fields?

I don't understand why so many fitness-minded people eat oats.....they're full of simple carbs and empty calories, zero protein. And it's like eating paste. YUCK.
