I think it was more of a "You are paying me a good bit of money so I will set you up with the best case I can." But in reality it was a chess move that she played. Because it creates doubt in the jury and if there is a retrial then it might hold some weight. Not saying it will do any of those but it is a logical tactic to use emotion against the jury to swing them to their side, even after the verdict. Pretty disgraceful and gross how lawyers will gaslight and control the jury in this matter.

It wouldn't have mattered either way. It would only protect during the time you're married. You don't have that privilege to not testify against them about something that happens pre-dating the marriage, which the murder would have. It also only covers what is said between the two. It would not work for actions. If he told her that he killed Scott, that would be protected and she wouldn't have to testify. If she witnessed him doing so, she would have to testify about it no matter what.

Yeah, but I think, just in case Heather, who was going about her regular business as usual after Scott's murder, wasn't in on the murder too (and wouldn't roll on the murderer)...and I think they were being followed to see where they hid the murder weapon and/or who they interacted with just after the murder of Scott...who else could have been involved. As Mike said, they barely had enough circumstantial evidence on him at the time, and wanted to get more...but you're right...would have been better if LE went in earlier. I don't know how they would have known Heather was in danger bc she acted normally and did her normal stuff, without alert the police...which she could have done indirectly. Like her co-workers said, she acted alittle nervous but not very, apparently. I was pretty impressed LE found the murderer and Heather in the 1st place, to be honest. Yeah, it's too bad LE didn't go in earlier, but I think they were getting more evidence and didn't know Heather was in danger at the time.

Some victims come to feel that they can prevent and control their abuser's violence by obeying, because they believe that the violence is caused by them - "This never would have happened if I had done what he wanted. This is my fault." Heather probably just fell back into a survival mode of doing anything to keep Kevin from getting angry, believing that if she tried to leave like she did before, it would just result in Kevin killing someone else.

And this woman who was so cowed into compliance and going along with her captor told him to piss off when he asked her to marry him again? I'm not saying these things are impossible, but they really don't track with the story being presented here in my opinion. There is something off about their behaviour that does not jive with the idea that she was a helpless victim start to finish. @@avaforshort681 Doesn't Mike say in the video that after Scott was killed she went out to dinner with her son and his girlfriend? If so, then that coupled with the fact that her son claimed that she seemed "normal" after Scott died/before she was killed indicates that her kids had no clue what was going on, may have been old enough to defend themselves better than if they were still literal children, and were likely living elsewhere. There's something really off about all this and I'm not sure that I fully buy the whole "she was forced/her kids were threatened" story, especially when considering that she went about her daily routine as if nothing had ever happened.

Mike.. you shouldn’t really have to thank us for watching these videos. Of course it allows you to make this your actual job - but that’s because of the work and effort, and it’s personality you put into these! You’re the reason you’re successful, not us! You just give us entertaining and accurate videos to watch and we do..and that’s all we do. Give yourself a high five, cause as someone who’s followed you for years and watched you evolve into the successful creator you are now - I’m proud of you and thank you!

Is that attorney serious right now? She wishes we could meet the Kevin that they knew? The same one with warrants for domestic assault? She needs to find a new career because she’s not very good at her job. Everyone knows it’s not the person you meet that you should worry about, it’s who they are behind closed doors.

Just because Heather did normal activities, doesn't mean she felt ok. Shed already tried to escape the guy brutalising her. By that point, I'm sure she was terrified, trapped & acting normal hoping she wouldnt be murdered. I wonder if he killed her just so she couldnt date while he was in prison..

I agree she was probably also afraid to go to police because either they wouldn't believe her , leave her unprotected, or even charge her with the murder. The police seriously messed up here. They carried on watching Heather and Kevin and Heather died as a result of their inaction. Let's face it the possible scenarios when the police were watching them were, either Kevin, jealous ex had lured the new man over to the house and killed him and Heather was an unwilling participant in the crime meaning she was now in danger herself or the two of them were working together to kill the new boyfriend but there is absolutely no motive for Heather in that scenario whatsoever so it should have been obvious that scenario number two was extremely unlikely and it was more likely Heather wasn't part of the murder and therefore very likely in danger from her unhinged ex as she was a valuable witness. The cops should have seen this it's so obvious.

@@justmythoughts6313 I'm just struggling to see what benefits the police thought they could gain by monitoring the pair over time, they already knew that one or both were involved in the murder and the most likely scenario was that the ex was the killer and Heather was an unwilling participant. Whatever their thoughts they must have been aware that they were taking a significant risk with her life by continuing to allow them to carry on without bringing them in. I do understand its easy for me to say with the benefit of hindsight but nonetheless they must have been aware of the possible theories and the risk to further lives being lost by choosing their course of action.
