Hi Bren!!! This is the harp that I really enjoyed to hear at the workshop in Klingenthal. It actually got me thinking after Bertram gave us his mini workshop on Easy Third/DOIT tuning. It's great for reggae, Irish, and cajon tunes. Very rich sounding indeed. Sending a big Bruce hug from Germany.

Thanks Bruce! A big hug back 🤗 Yes, nice to get the OHS out into the wild again! I'm curious to see what players do with it .

Sir, you are amazing 👏. Could you please make a video about valves for diatonic harps. I'm currently struggling putting my sp20 C paddy richter on valves, the 3d valve gets too high when Bb band is played, and it delays the next Ab note, and hits it hard and not really controlled. I'm using my own valves made from cloth tape (DG). Maybe, you 've had this problem too? Thanks!

I wonder if it'd be possible to engineer a 4 hole, 3 octave, mouthpiece movable harp. Also, just out of curiosity, would it be possible to build a oom-pah chord harp -- bass fundamental note and treble third and fifth -- with your modular reeds? Cheers!

Those are very general questions. Do you have an idea of the mechanical structures you envisage to create these harmonicas? If so, I could give a more useful answer on whether I think they would work or not.

Very cool, as always. One of these days you are going to accidentally invent the right part for me and I'll be able to take another shot at my 3 button chord harp. :)

Very cool ! I just watched your video "Making Your Own OCTA-HARP". Do you still have to flat sand the combs ? I have the regular non-selectable OCTA-HARP that I built with Seydel G & Low G 1847 harps. It's a lot of fun, so I can imagine how much fun the selectable one would be !
@BrendanPowerMusic Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, the combs for the OctaHarp Selectable are in a raw state. However we could look at an intermediate Parts Kit where the combs are flat sanded and assembled with the spring, and all the customer needs to do is attach their reedplates. It would cost quite a bit more than the Raw Parts Kit though, because of the time and attention to detail involved.

Any thoughts on bringing back the OctaChrom and OctaChrom Selectable chromatic harps?

You could play some mean Zydeco music with it!
@BrendanPowerMusic Жыл бұрын
Agreed! It would be perfect for that style - plus having the bends available would give it an edge over the accordions that are usually used. Do you know any good Zydeco harp players?
@norfolknwhey4787 Жыл бұрын
@@BrendanPowerMusic unfortunately not. The only modern players I’ve seen use that style is Ricci and Hopwood.

Might this also signal the return of the stand alone gasket valves? I will buy some as soon as they return. Been wanting to try out valving but, you know, I'm lazy. Also great to see the return of Tech Tuesdays.

Yes... ish! I have my new type of Gasket-valves designed for some harp models (obviously, the ones used in the OctaHarp Selectable). Designing them for more brands & models takes time I don't have at present, but I could re-release them progressively... I've had a lot of enquiries about them, so thanks for your reminder. Looking like a topic for another Tech Tuesday pretty soon 👍
