People who romanticize the Mafia are fools. As for Morley Safer, he was my all time favorite 60 Minutes interviewer.

Because of movies like “The Godfather” and TV shows like “The Sopranos” that romantizes the mafia, these people get treated like celebrities.

As others said it's bc of Hollywood. Also, in America we've always liked rebels. From cowboys to bikers to obviously the mob. People who do what they want is an attractive lifestyle but they don't realize what they really do

Americans are very violent people, they have been stealing to get rich just like the mafia, except they stole it from the natives. It is the same kill and eat mentality.

Not really, they just don't blatantly kill politicians or police anymore. They don't really kill anyone anymore. They know that if they kill people blatantly it brings too much attention and police. But if you look into the laws they dismantled the witness protection program. They run most of the construction contracts. They launder there money like masters and control so much of the society still. Ask a sicilian about the mafia and they will tell you they dont exist anymore. This is proof enough that they very much still alive.

These people are evil man. I am beginning to be more and more repulsed by them as I get older. I used to be enamored, but I think that is because I was young and dumb and it was mainly a product of the cinematic romanticism of the life….
