When she confronted everyone for not coming to her art show I felt so incredibly proud of her and acting like she doesn't even exist sometimes.. I was so proud of her. She deserves so much credit. She's sweet and helpful to just about everyone in the office and no one acknowledges that.

I think at one point in our lives we all had that moment, like Pam. It's a small victory that's really quite arbitrary, but for a brief period we feel a rush and clarity like we can be so much more than what we are, and depending on the circumstances, say how we really feel. It's almost like being intoxicated, it gives you a moment of courage without losing the clarity of mind. Unfortunately we don't always seize that moment like Pam does. I like how she was only planning to tell people that she did it, because she couldn't believe she just did what she did and was proud of herself. But she found more courage to say more, after she basically told Michael off for being so presumptuous and even sexist earlier.

The fire walk is actually a great metaphor, Dwight is stubborn (and also stupid), Michael hesitates and can’t make a decision while Pam in this moment didn’t hesitate, she just did it and then she goes and tells Jim exactly how she feels.
@stoopidapples1596
@stoopidapples1596 2 жыл бұрын
I actually like what Michael says to Pam to stop her from doing the fire walk the first time "It takes guts to be a regional manager." It wasn't just that he was being sexist and demeaning to Pam, he was pointing out that Pam was a shy receptionist that he couldn't even fathom being regional manager. And thus Pam steps over the fires and immediately changes for the better.

Don Pietro When they were out at the lake she embarrassed Karen and told jim in front of everyone how she called off her wedding for him, and that she missed him, while he was in a relationship. Then the next episode she says to Karen that she doesnt regret what she said, and when karen is interviewed she rightfully says "Pam is kind of a bitch". She ruined karen and Jim's relationship with her petty bullshit. And pams character isnt even interesting, shes useless as a receptionist and at sales. Karen actually had a brain.

Why should he have been regretful? She'd destroyed him with her rejection, which was bs as she wanted him and didn't have the courage to tell him, he was with someone else, so likely didn't want to send the wrong messages and in the previous episode, she had got back together with Roy. He was trying to move on from someone who had been pretty clear in her rejection of him. Going to the art show out of office hours would have done nothing but muddy the water and would also have been downright disrespectful of Karen.

I think what makes this moment so great is Pam was never like that until she made the conscious decision to end things with Roy. I think she realised that he always kept her in a box whereas Jim actually encouraged her to fly with her own wings. We watch her as she's single, where she transforms into a more confident and independent woman who learns more about herself. But she only got the chance to do that after ending it with Roy. My point is, if Pam had the transformation then you can too. She wasn't always courageous. It's never too late to try. :)

Steph Madigan well in GENERAL we don't posess the same characteristics as men do, which is what makes men in general very good at being a boss. Men and women are different, men are better at some things (in general), and we are better at others. There's nothing wrong with us being different, biology is not sexist.

I don't get why everyone hates Pam! She try to do her best for his declaration not to feel like a declaration, she wants things to go straight with Karen! She wants them to understand that Jim made her understand that Roy wasn't good enough for her and there's nothing "bitchy" in this! I mean...have we all watched the same show people?

This was a terrific way to show realistic character development. Pam is not an outstanding character, she's not extremely smart or bold or daring but being who she is, she became better over time and I think, more brave. As Michael shrewdly pointed out earlier, he wished she would become more courageous and she did. For the first two seasons, she stayed the same and didn't challenge herself when she had the opportunity (like when Jan offered her a chance for an art course) but she really did spend much of season 3 on her own and that was important because it helped her get some clarity.
