The Official Christian The Lion Video

In 1969 two young Australians Anthony Bourke and John Rendall visited Harrods in London and became enchanted with a young Lion cub, acting on impulse and with no previous Lion experience they immediately decided to buy him. They took possession of Christian some weeks later and moved him into their flat which had a basement under a shop, this was to become the lions home.
Christian soon grew both in size and popularity and his boisterousness caused quite a stir in the antique shop he called home. But all good things must end and keeping a growing lion in the centre of London became untenable. Relief was at hand when George Adamson agreed to help Christian adapt to his new found home in Kenya and the relocation began.
In 2008, a clip of the reunion with Christian was posted on KZbin and became an internet sensation. Overnight people wanted to know more about what lay behind this clip.

On German television, I saw the documentary and I was deeply touched. It's inconceivable that a predator so much binds to this people. Very emotional ! I'm also hurt that many animals are bred in a cage. That has to change !!

Fantastic. I love that they raised him and, at a young age (for a lion) realized he was too big for his surroundings and set him free. Any rescue animal, no matter what, always recognizes and LOVES and never forgets the people that show them kindness and LOVE. Christian was cursed at the beginning of his life (his parents died in captivity) but benefitted from the insane love of these 2 men. So many happy tears for all involved. Everyone (lion included!) is better for these relationships.

What a beautiful story! It doesn't surprise me at all, the love an animal can have for their human. I totally believe that when an animal -that should be wild but is raised by humans- is completely capable of being loving like domestic animals are. There are naysayers who believed that these videos were staged...I think that's ridiculous. Its so obvious to me that these videos are genuine. Incredible story, incredible footage. Kudos to Anthony Bourke and John Rendall for all their efforts

I love this lion. I have a cat who doesn't even like me and she is a domesticated animal that was bred to provide affection. She gets fed and she buggers off. And yet this wild lion who had no obligation to be non-violent to these humans cuddles and provides affection to them like a kitty cat does.

This isn't a sad story at all! It's a beautiful story of a lion and the people who loved him giving him the life they knew he deserved. Ace Bourke and John Rendall are two incredible men, who selflessly gave Christian the best possible life. its amazing how, even know they said the lion would not remember them. he still did. its simply amazing how different breeds can form bonds so strong. i saw an other video where a female lion had taken a calf as her cub. in fact she should have eaten it but she didn't there is still so much we need to know about animals.

The last meeting was not as touching as the first one... Haha! But I'm glad he seemed so calm with seeing them this time, and while watching him it's like his eyes said "Thanks for everything, I'll always remember you and love you, but now it's time to move on." And the two men was also ok with everything as I've seen in an interview. And then Christian head away for adventures. Happy ending. :D But sooo beautiful story! ANIMALS HAVE FEELINGS!

This seems to be one of the success stories of getting a wild animal back to where it should be. These guys did the right thing. I'm sure it was hard to let him go but they were thinking of what's right for the lion not themselves. Even if he died out there that was the natural order of things.
