I grew up in the Family because my parents joined back in the 90's and while it wasn't a s*x cult when I was born in the early 2000's (at least not in our group), we grew up reading a lot of the cult materials(we still have them lol) and there absolutely was a lot of weird shit in there, and David Berg was basically considered god. Everytime you talk about /r/teenagers, it reminds me of this story: I had a reddit account, and when this happened i had a bad habit of commenting on NSFW subreddits when "browsing" them. On this same account, i had mentioned that i was over 18 many times... anyone who looked at my account for 15 seconds could tell i was an adult who enjoyed pornography enough to join discussions about it One day, i noticed i was invited to a subreddit with a weird acronym (AAM i think, the subreddit is gone now so I'll mention the name). Upon inspection, it stood for "Adult Attracted Minors"... There was a Q&A thread where the mods claimed it was a "safe space for victims of grooming to congregate" That was CLEARLY NOT THE INTENT. If it was for children, why invite adult accounts like mine? Even if they didn't check my account, thats no excuse; it's unmistakably dangerous and evil to invite people to a "safe space" without verifying their accounts or age or intentions. This was very clearly a subreddit meant to lure victims into a sense of comfort and community, with the mods inviting random accounts they found on hentai subreddits. I reported it to reddit and authorities, and it's since been removed, but just the idea that such a community existed is disgusting to think about. It wasnt removed for a week after my report, and by time i was first invited there were already tons of people, confused like me, that reported the subreddit. It took at least two weeks for reddit to give a shit. Two weeks of moderators being able to potentially DM kids and invite them to a private discord/messenger app that no one knows about. Reddit is either over-extended to the point that they aren't able to keep users safe, or complicit in allowing these communities. Either way they aren't capable of safely running a communication platform, and should be treated that way until they can take accountability

The thing about the tumblr exodus was that it wasn't just explicitly porn getting flagged/removed but anything even remotely sexual or "adult". Even censored images. I literally got a strike over an image of two people kissing. Wasn't even porn... just kinda sensual. A lot of the actual porn accounts were bots but the thriving art community on there basically died because they were also getting strikes over stupid stuff labelled "adult content". Many migrated to twitter though. Kinda explains a lot.

My biggest problem with the new Rings of Power series is that the dwarf women don't have beards! They are supposed to have beards of the same length of dwarf men. i think the biggest problem of the show is just that it is boring. I think the biggest thing people are upset about is how the show was promoted. While in House of the Dragon Velaryons skin colours basically doesnt make any difference, the promotion of Rings of power mainly focused on the activism around the movie and trying to reinvent Tolkien. And theres just some inconsistencies that just really fall out of the universe. They are not "destroying" the show, but it also asks the questions, why they are specifically still chasing the idea of "we wrote the story Tolkien didnt write". Because sure you can race-swap the dwarven woman, but at least give her the signature dwarven beard that all dwarves have. Another one is the bigger role the hobbit-predecessors have, as they just come out of the blue
