Favorite band of all time. Met Dexter twice about 13 years apart and he remembered me as a little kid when he met me and my dad. Met Noodles once as well, they really are just normal ass dudes who love playing music. Talked with Dexter over 30 minutes both times. Noodles signed my guitar that's his first signature model. Dudes are as cool as they come.

Franz Kafka is a widely celebrated writer. He wrote exclusively in German as a German Jew living in Prague, modern day Czech Republic and died young at age 40 from tuberculosis. He was never known or celebrated during his time for his writing. He wrote for himself by himself, never got rich, never got famous, never even got moderate recognition. I had to read his writings as MANDATORY in my high school AP English Class. The point is just do what you do. Make what you can make. If you're writing something from the heart, and crafting something from the soul, don't limit it. Just do it. The audience will follow if it is good enough

I met these guys after the '99 WHFS fest in Baltimore. What and awesome show. My friends knew one of the radio dj's and we were able to get into a hotel bar after the show with a lot of the festival musicians. I definitely recall seeing Dexter talking to Mark McGrath next to the bar. At one point around midnight the bar told us they were shutting down and everyone was kinda pist. I was talking to a young guy that was a roadie for Offspring and he said they had some Heineken on the bus. When we stepped on the bus i swear the first thing he said was "hey if you gotta use the bathroom there's no shittin on the bus"! The door the bathroom was open and the shower curtain rod had a bunch of leather jackets hanging. Great time!

Hey kids Ecstasy/MDMA like the name implies is so good.....the first time. And it's never that good again. Which is why it's never worth it to do it. Just don't do it. It's not addictive like heroin, but it has diminishing returns are just like heroin, and arguably the damaging effects are damn near worse. The drug works by releasing all your serotonin at once which is damaging to your body. It fucks up your eyes, and more importantly it fucks with the the chemical control composition of your brain. I have serious anxiety issues and hardcore panic attacks, some that led me to the ER which never manifested before using MDMA. It's a common complaint among users. Just don't do it. Smoke weed if you're so inclined, drink a few beers. Maybe try a small dose of mushrooms if you're feeling crazy. Don't start wheeling and dealing. There's a reason it's illegal

I once started a band with three friends for fun. The drummer was okay, the bassist was better, but the two guitarist (one being me) were completely new to it. There was nothing serious about it, but we made two different t-shirts and three stickers anyway. We called the band Must Keep Refrigerated. The name literally came off of containers of honey mustard and bleu cheese. One said Keep Refrigerated, the other said Must Be Refrigerated, so we combined the two. I say all that because we made a song off of Keep Them Separated, but turned that part of the song into Must Keep Refrigerated. Heeey, gotta put it away.

Bert I'm thinking that you did some research and knew that Dexter Holland is a PhD I think Biology. "Dexter Holland, also known as Bryan Keith Holland, is the lead singer and co-founder of the punk rock band the Offspring. He has a PhD in molecular biology and has published research on HIV microRNA." Shitting on The Bus. LOL I completely relate to this. From Mannheim, Germany my friend's family and I took a bus from there to Spain and something went out in the plumbing or something on that bus. So the bus went almost all freaking night to the Coast of Spain from South Central Germany. It wasn't the most horrible experience I've ever had but it's in the top 10, however looking back upon it now, it's kind of funny. As my friend was 14 and I was 13 we were even happier to see the topless beaches once we go there out of the horrendous smell of that bus. It was like riding in a shit tube on wheels and all we wanted to do was sleep b/c it smelled that bad. I was afraid the driver was going to get high off of the fumes and that kind of worried me. LOL. So to the guitarist in Offspring would you consider Flipper Punk? I mean a lot of Punks loved the first album, and Flipper was a huge influence on Nirvana(Chris ended up playing with them for a short stint.). Ah Outlaw Country. For me it's Townes Van Zandt.

People love to scramble and define what "real punk" is. It's a genre of music. The Offspring has always been a rock band that's punk-adjacent. They were the gateway band. When I think of "punk" I don't think of The Offspring. When I think music that has punk energy and motifs, but branches out into pop and rock, I think of The Offspring. Not to mention, the amount of money Smash made for Epitaph helped so many other bands get lifted because the label had better resources to help out their talent. tl;dr: The Offspring isn't a punk band. They're a band operating on the outer edge of punk rock that got a lot of people into the genre, which allowed so many people to dig deeper and find all of those other bands. Their contribution cannot be overstated. As for selling out, the only thing I know about ANY band is what I read in magazines or bought. So by that logic, isn't any entertainer a "sellout?" Such a weird thing for people to get mad about.
