The Ogoh-Ogoh Parade is a vibrant and colorful event in Balinese culture, traditionally held on the eve of Nyepi, the Day of Silence. Ogoh-ogoh is a traditional Balinese statue made to celebrate Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence. At CCS, making ogoh-ogoh has become a fun activity for students. Students work together to design and construct the Ogoh-Ogoh, which often takes the form of a fearsome creature or character from Balinese mythology, or any monster they just love and happy to create.
At CCS the Ogoh-Ogoh were paraded around the school field accompanied by gamelan music and loud noises to ward off evil spirits. This not only helps to preserve the tradition and cultural identity of Bali but also provides a fun and engaging learning experience for the children, as they work together to create something truly spectacular.
