What a touching and well described documentary of the beloved 'ohi'a trees. I love them too and am trying hard to protect many trees and other native Hawaiian species in Maui where I live, Ha'iku. So many invasive species here, but no ROD yet... and please don't come!

Please make a video of the wiliwili trees. The nearly extinct native hawaiian tree that used to cover the north west side of the big island before the beef industry and before the wasps killed many of them. #savethewiliwilitrees !

Maybe it's time to restrict the introduction of non-native plants to Hawaii.
