Okay, maybe COMPLETED isn't the right word. Only because they have the greatest stockpile of draft picks the league has ever seen still at their disposal.
But they're the 2nd seed in the West and 2nd in the league in Net Rating, so we get to call it complete lol.

Presti has been adamant in every offseason this is still a rebuild in progress. But as a fan of the team it has been the coolest narrative to follow this team’s comeback to relevance. I think the team finally surpasses the rebuild moniker after this season. It’ll be interesting to see if Giddey is shipped for a top player or picks if at all.

OKC are currently way ahead of their growth trajectory, but they can't settle for 1st round playoffs exits like they did between 2016 and 2020. I wonder which will come first? OKC making it to conf finals or they put 3 players on rookie max or veteran max contracts. Personally, I see a lot of similarities between this team and the 2013 Warriors and 2010 Thunder. Which way will it go will depend on the owner's willingness to spend and the team's performance in the playoffs.

I feel like they could win it all this year they are young and chemistry will only grow. Biggest factor will be their health come playoff time but I honestly don't see any teams even if the Thunder add no one as deeper depth wise which plays a bigger factor then most realize.

The NBA seems to be moving away from dynasties since the warriors. It seems like it's more balanced and competitive now. I don't think Denver is untouchable the way the warriors were (just really unbeatable for those few yrs)
@Kingfisher1215
@Kingfisher1215 5 ай бұрын
OKC has had an easy schedule so far. Few back to backs and a slew of home games. Before you punch their ticket, let them play a full schedule. And that Denver team you are dismissing is a half game out of first yet has had to play nearly50% of their games as back to backs and has played more games than any other team. OKC caught them on a back to back last time in fact. People always overlook the nuances of the schedule, which is why playoffs turn out the way they do.

@@Kingfisher1215as two weeks have passed since this comment the OKC are #1 in the west and and have beaten the clippers and Denver and the spurs and the Timberwolves. This team has heart and potential they will have a chip with in the next two years so long as they don’t try to “fix” what isn’t broken as in trading away their depth and youth for a blown out “superstar”

They are in a great spot, but it was far from a perfect rebuild. They passed on getting Quickley, McDaniels, Sengun, and Franz Wagner. Presti salvaged this by drafting Chet, Jalen Williams, Wallace (although it's a little early with him), and picking Isaiah Joe up off the scrap heap, after the 76ers released him. SGA becoming a superstar is the reason they are already a top 10 team in the league. They have a lot of good role players too.

OKC is in a great spot. SGA is an All NBA guy and Chet looks like he can be a major piece on a winning team and they have other young talent as well plus their cache of picks is amazing. However I would like to see them empty out some of their picks to add a piece to the current team. These windows to win don’t stay open forever and they can’t use all of those picks. It’s best for them to try to add a big piece to take their shot now.

Okc will be giving away a lot of picks over the next few years, already have 3 players who will be all stars and more (sga,Chet,jdub) with Cason,Joe, and jwill on the bench. Throw in dort and Giddey which I think Giddey will be the odd man out even still. The top 3 will get big money, Cason and Joe will get good money, dort will be due for another contract. If 3 of those 10+ picks hit that’s damn near a full roster and 1st picks are guaranteed… about to be a sticky situation.
@SpaceGhost92

Not really, you can consolidate those picks for a player at the deadline or simply trade them and push the picks back a few years like they did with Denver. Teams always need picks especially the contenders

If anyone could handle that situation it's presti. I agree Giddey looks like the odd man out at the moment. But the beauty is the rookies don't really get extensions to their 4/5 season. Meaning Presti has a bunch of flexibility. With how the NBA offseason is so drama filled wouldn't be surprised at if a young superstar becomes available within the next 12-18 months lol

The beauty of small market teams is there is NO pressure to win immediately. Fans are usually loyal, patient and appreciate hard work and effort. Big market teams often feel the need to ALWAYS be relevant by attracting big names…who are usually older, injury prone and too damn expensive. These guys usually undermine the coach and stifle the development of young picks. Inevitably, the coaches are fired, old “star(s)” retire and the cycle repeats. 5,10, 20 years go by of mediocrity and failure….but the teams are making money with jerseys, tickets, and tv deals. It’s nice to see OKC, Minnesota, and Indiana doing it organically. Even Dallas and Boston have rosters filled with “their” guys. I LOVE to see the SUNs, Lakers, Bucks and Clippers fail trying to grab BIG Names. The NETs had a great young team and head coach a few years ago and DESTROYED it all for KOolaid and some chips which turned into Ben and no picks for eternity…..costly tale

They need to package these picks for cheap great role players under long term contracts. My Wolves have Naz Reid and is the perfect example of a guy they should try to get. Isiah Joe, Kenrich Williams, and some firsts could get it done this season. Minnesota loves Naz and so do I, but this could allow us to keep Anderson and Conley next offseason. And we add a great shooter, a good 2 way forward off the bench, and multiple young players long term. It’s a risk, but it’s probably the best move to make sure this Wolves team can last for years to come and improve.

The Thunder need to flip some of those picks for an established player. Bertans contract will help match salaries. Some of these pick swaps to move up in the draft haven't helped them that much. If they plan on doing it all through the draft, they're going to need to get lucky. The draft is a complete gamble. Guys that can be amazing in college can be much less effective in the NBA. Once these young players start coming off of their rookie deals this team is either going to lock in on them, or have to let them walk and keep replenishing with draft picks. I think that this team could be a championship contender today if they went out and made something happen. Nothing crazy, but something reasonable. They missed out on Porzingas. That would have been a great pairing with Chet and the price on Porzingas wasn't high. Marcus Smart and Robert Williams were available. Both of those guys went cheap and would have been great fits for this team. Imagine Chet at the 4 with Williams at the 5 and Bertans contract would have matched straight up with Williams. Portland is rebuilding. They could have got Williams for a late first rounder. I know that he got hurt, but the Thunder should have swooped on him before that even happened. I'm glad that this team is being patient, and not chasing after guys like Zach Levine with a bad contract and a team that's going to want 4 or more first rounders. But they need to do something soon.

Only part they kinda messed up on was trading alperen for 2 draft picks but at the time thats pretty good. But looking back at it now they slightly lost as hes playing decent on the rockerts right now, one of the better players on that team.

Sengun is a borderline all star. He’s been a revelation this season. However, who knows if they even select him. And it allowed them to get Chet and JDub in 2022. The butterfly effect is real

okc will go to the finals and still has so many picks. The future is bright for OKC. They will win at least 4 rings in the next 10 years.

It’s kind of crazy how even though he has made some very bad decisions like with Harden and looking back at it now sengun and McDaniels/quickly but even with that he is still the best gm in sports because he hits so much lol

Hot news???? Bronny James to OKC in the 2026 maybe 2027? They have the picks, think about it. If OKC got James sr in 2025 with thunders extra money if he wants to play alongside his son. Let's go OKC . Think about it. Easy money even if U trade

Giddey clearly looks like the odd man out due to the fact they play significantly better with him off the court, also while being patient is important being too patient can cost a team because the nba changes fast and you never know what may happen in 2-3 years. So I think it would make sense to make a few moves to at get some quality vets in and try to aim for a deep playoff run.

Teams like this don't need to acquire a superstar they just need the right fit. The Raptors in 2019 are a great example with marc gasol.

OKC actually might be screwed, they have expiring great talents next two years and they need to sign 7 rookies who are all projected to be in the top 15 Too much money and players to test their fits Keep like 3 good picks from 2024 and 2025 and trade for a superstar now while you can Don't know what you need tbh but I know you can't have 30 players on your team lol

Sam Prestige "biggest scammer ever" in a good way. I love what he did. Low key OK can trade for KD and lose 0 players 😂😂😂 I like that. They wouldn't lose a darn game. And this upcoming draft kinda sucks so why not actually trade for KD or Lauri Markkanen. KD one sounds absurd but it isn't. They can give Suns 8 first rounders. Which would give them 99.99% chance if winning the next 5 chips

What a great problem to have!! And they can most def keep the ones further on down the line. I follow a really good Thunder beat report named Andrew Schlect who was saying he thinks Presti will trade some of these recent firsts for more valuable picks in future years.
